The comments here are laughable. Google his bio, Myke Hawke isn't Rambo; he's the guy who would've taught Rambo. He speaks 10 languages. He's an expert in combat, survival, and field medicine. A survivor of 8 theaters of conflict and 80 engagements; he re-uped after 9/11, completed the Special Forces Qualification course a 2nd time (16 years after first qualifying), earn a commission and served as an ODA (A-team) Commander. The terms legend and hero just kinda fall short in describing him.

I dont mean to sound arrogant or anything but when it comes to jungle survival the Brazilian CIGS are the best. They can live off the land using just a machete or a kabar knife! They mix local indian techniques plus couple of tricks they learnt from The US experience in Vietnam and came up with the best warfare jungle school nowadays, upon which, all the others are based. Brazilian military personnel have become instructors ate the US jungle expert school after only being there for a week!

Well, it's o.k. to use either, because they're both equally easy to use. Except that a flint has a much higher temp. than a lighter (Mine goes up to 5010 degrees fahrenheit). And well, he's not stranded with limited suply...so yeah xD

As for your question: the knife's sides were too symetrical to be a bowie or other design... I'm thinking it's actually a dagger of some sort- bringing it out of the survival knife category and into the "crazy american combat knife wilding guy" category
