This selection is also in "Water Music". Handel frequently recycles his works. In several "Concerti a Due Cori" are choruses from "Messiah", only for instruments alone.
I've uploaded some more videos of Crispian, but for some reason they are not showing up if you search his name. Please visit my page in order to see them.
the video seems to be out of tune with the sound. the trumpet sounds allready before he sets it to his mouth. but for the rest I like it!

I love your playing - so smooth and controlled, with such a lovely tone.

THIS IS FROM WATER MUSIC.
Kybabiee 2 years ago
This music is used both for the Water Music Suite in D and the Sonata for Trumpet and String in D.
The Water Music Suite features two trumpets, however.
There is often confusion because Handel wrote three Water Music Suties, the most popular of which is in F and opens with the famous horn line.
The point being, this music is used to open both the trumpet sonata heard here and the Water Music Suite in D, HWV 349.

Pardon my humor, but it appears that the same gentleman is playing both the harpsichord and the cello simultaneously.
Impressive!

At my point of view, the best and confident interpretation ever. Respect!

its keyed, i see.
poorfatmarvin 3 years ago
It's not keyed. It is a natural (valveless) trumpet that has a few small holes to help correct the intonation of the "naturally" out of tune notes.
DueTrombe 3 years ago
thats not valveless..??? :0

Very nice! Very hard to play with that trumpet. I can't see, but, is it keyed? I believe not.
idock02 4 years ago
Nope, he's playing a natural trumpet. The only openings on that horn might be some vent holes, but they're simply there to assist with pitch.
