  • Depending on what Native people you talk to, Indian is not offensive at all and sometimes preferred to Native. I know where I'm from (New Mexico) most Native people call themselves Indian and their language Indian. As far as looking Native, you can't and shouldn't judge a person by their skin. I don't look Native but I do know my culture and take part in my pueblos' doing as well and speak some of the language (and learn more everyday). Some Native people who could pass as FBed know much less.

  • Quite a situation eh?. The people who first migrated from other places on the globe to what we now call North America are called Indians because a european got lost on his way across the Atlantic, and misidentified the land he "discovered".

The only way to speak of the indigenous people of this Western hemisphere is to identify the tribal identity of each individual. To make a block of such vast array of individual ethnic groups is one of the more obscene actions born of a racist mentality.

  • American Indian... is that ignorance speak for "Native American" or fail speak for an American raised in India...

  • grow up on Pine Ridge than talk lady. Exciting time what the heck are you smoking??? Tell your political crap to those freezing and starving on the reservation lady.
