i agree 50 inch is not normal, that would be some kind of record. When i played ball my vert was 39inch, and i'm 6ft., so basically my head would be just about 1/2 a foot under the rim, with my arm length at 36inches from the shoulder...i was getting just over 1 foot over the rim..if i had 50inches, i would have like 2 foot over the rim.that would be sick.....50inches impossible...i like to see someone jump 4ft vert.

Well the problem is people use the word vert a lot, but no most of them don't realize what it actually means.

Technically a vertical is tested from a stand still. It's the vertical height of a standing jump.

When people say vert, about 85% of the time they mean their running vertical jump, which adds several inches.

Still that being said 50 inches is nuts, and like you said very few people actually have a 50 inch vertical.

That's the worst math I've ever heard. Carter posted a 43" off the run at the NBA combine. That's one of the 5 highest verts of all-time at the NBA combine. There's maybe 10 people on the planet who can get 50' off the ground. At 6'6", you'd have to get 42" off the ground to graze the rim with your head. On that Dunk Carters head wasn't at the rim. It's that simple.
