  • Music that would make the hardest atheist think again about the possibility of Divinity. It is wonderful to see the score and to follow the sublime alto parts. Overwhelming feeling reaches climax in the full choir bits.

  • @baconsplace OK first off those atheists would have to deal with 1:37 of constant eight notes in the instrumental opening without losing interest. :) And I don't know what "overwhelming feeling reaches" of "climax" you were feeling but I just had the overwhelming feeling of repetition. :) Sublime alto part? Really? I love alto sections in choirs, please understand, but this alto solo just sorta laid there for me. Even alto solos should have SOME upper range to them.

  • @RedNekLvr22 I'm an atheist. That said--the eighth notes of the opening are a passacaglia (and a very difficult one at that); I do find this interpretation very stilted, but that's not the fault of the composer; regarding the alto solo's range, remember, this is written for a countertenor, whose range is reasonably and fully explored in the solo.

  • Indeed, you do. Henry Purcell alone was an immense blessing.

  • wow....dynamics at 6:05 ish

  • I have sung this beautiful peace in church with organ only of course but I have never heard in this orchestral version. We such an amazing musical heritage in this country - England!

  • splendid! Thank you indeed!

  • Thanks.....as always!
