@SquareHeadSlacker WTF are you smoking. I love the Troggs on most of their tunes, but the Liverpool Five's version of this tune is FAR superior, vocally and musical arrangement wise.Treat yourself to some good weed and clear your fucking head before you make any more stupid statements.
@SquareHeadSlacker My humble two cents, bro: You are righteous to the bone. I've been on that other tune and stopped at less than 1 minute. One of the thou tunes that plagued the sixties under the line.... Then came the Troggs and made this marvel...
@MsLoosylou I first found that LP5 version on " Nuggets from the Liverpool Five ( Part 2)" on You Tube a year or so ago. Just now following your tip I found it on its own and the chick there is pretty athletic. I like their soulful approach too.

@DoctorRadio - If you're still interested, "Any Way that you Want Me (Troggs), original recording is posted on YouTube by MaxDerPeter; he titles it "Any way you want me mit Lyrics" so if you search by his name or that title, you'll find it. It's a very nice version.
Just found another posting on You Tube with the great version of this song by the Liverpool Five, another group from the Uk that recorded this first.I like that version best but the girl in this video is so sexy!!!!
For the last six months I have been carefully chwcking out the various versions of this Kool Toon on You Tube. This site gets the award for by far the best and most artistic video and the Liverpool Five version wins for sound and vocal performance. Congrats to Gband 66 for this video.
Thanks, fella, whoever u are, wherever u are! Thanks a f***king truckload. Been boiling my skull for years lookin' for this little jewel! Damn far out da usual pop...
I love the Troggs. Far off the subject here, but the girl in this vid is super cute. So shut the fuck up. Is the guy who made it a bit creepy? Yeah....
Define creepy...there was no intent for creepy...strictly going from an angle for me that someone this beautiful just fit the inspiration of the song.
Hey ENS64 and others, the Liverpool Five original version of this tune is on You Tube...it's my mom's favorite tune and she introduced me and my friends to this fantastic group.Troggs are not bad either.
It's written by the same guy as who wrote " Wild Thing", Chip Taylor who is Jon Voight's brother ( and thereby Angie Jolie's uncle). First offered to the Liverpool Five before the Troggs and their version made it only to #98 in the US and so the Troggs gave it a go in England and got the hit there. The LP5 have some stuff on You Tube that is well worth checking out but not including this song. That's a shame 'cos their version is a knockout, found only on their second RCA album " Out of Sight",
Maybe somewhat right about the Troggs...and Evie's version is no slouch but go listen again to the versions by Spiritualized and the Liverpool Five, the latter being the first recorded version. All have their plusses and minusses, but it's a varied world and music is a varied art.....in the ears of the beholder..Peace Out!!!
Very Kool Video. Came over here after listening to versions of this tune by Evie Sands, Liverpool Five and Spiritualized. all worth checking out if you have only heard the Troggs.
I found it too as one of three tunes on "Nuggets from the Liverpool Five ( Part 2)". Well worth a listen if you like a more soulfull rendition with backing vocals.
Congrats this is the best video of all the versions on You Tube. I think that I heard this a long time ago by HP Lovecraft but I think that the Liverpool Five were the first to record it.
I have the Liverpool Five's 45rpm of this song and it is one of my all time favorites . The vocals are so far superior to the Troggs and yes their recording was first and I just found it on You Tube.
This is not that bad but I just cruised by the " Nuggets from the Liverpool Five ( Part 2) " noted by others below and I also have to admit that their version is superior to this one by the Troggs.
Although this version is good, I just came over from the Liverpool Five version and have to agree that that one is better. Another version that I found interesting ,also on You Tube is one by the group Spiritualized. This video may not offer the best music is still the best to watch.
Glad to see that the Steve Laine vocal on the Liverpool Five version of this song is getting good reviews from many Troggs fans as noted here. Reg does fine for the Troggs but has done better, like his fantastic lead on Wild Thing.
JackLondon13 I really like this song Troggs version is OK . I really loved Evie Sands version. But for me the Best is still the Liverpool Five 's Version. Listen to it on their site I bet you'll agree It's gor a great Bluesy feel plus a great Lead from Steve Laine and nice Harmonies.
@JackLondon13 Fabulous chick in the video but I agree that the Liverpool Fiv'e's version is even sexier altho the band is not asf good looking as her. Perhaps if she was in that band theirs would have been a top ten hit.instead of this one.......she is stunning.
After listening to Evie Sands version how could you listen to this crap? Her version is one of my favorite songs of all time. Regarding the girl being beautiful, to each his own. Not my cup of tea.
I'm not sure exactly how Dave would take that, (lead singer for CWB) he was very competitive back in the day. The L5 was more blue-eyed soul than this version. I've always been a Troggs fan though.
Regarding versions of this song, I also really like the one by Evie Sands and also the versions by The American Breed and H.P. Lovecraft. I'd love to hear the one by the Liverpool Five, I've never even heard of that band before!
HP Lovecraft I have always liked but you should check out the really soulful version on You Tube's "Nuggets of the Liverpool Five (Part 2)". It's one of three songs on that video...unfortunately there is no cute chick but that and other LP5 stuff is now getting a lot of attention. Check them out and you will know why I really like them.Check out my site too.
I haven't seen a synthesizer credited on the recording of this song but that may not necessarily mean a lot. The UK across the board had much better facilities for recording and arranging than here in the US with the exception of Capitol records. Many local studios just didn't have the tech.
I love the Troggs, especially their song, Wild Thing, but they don't really do this song justice. You should listen to it by the Liverpool Five...much more soulful and satisfying.
I have heard that version and I still find this one more appealing to me. Mostly because of the muse in the video; I just do not believe it'd work as well with her in it. Just my opinion.
A wonderful song and the Troggs do a nice job.I used to have a version of this song which was recorded by another lesser known but extremely good English band The Liverpool Five.My girlfriend and I saw them play in the Seattle area and that song was one of our favorites very romantic and soulful.I purchased the recently released "The Best of the Liverpool Five" cd on sundazed records and it is great and worth checking out unfortunately this song is not on the cd which is very surprising
I think the Troggs were a wonderful band who left some everlasting memories. In particular their version of Love is All Around leaves the Wet version for dead.
But in this case, Evie Sands blows them away. She took it from a pop song to almost a soul ballad and left us with an all time classic.
Not a bad version but it is sorely lacking when compared to others by Evie Sands and especially to the much more soulful version by the Liverpool Five, both of which are now on You Tube. The former is under the song title and the latter is one of three songs on " Nuggets from the Liverpool Five Part 2". Give them a listen and form you own conclusion. The Troggs had a big hit with the song in the UK, The Liverpool Five's version did hit the Billboard chart in the US, but never got its due. .
I have not heard Evie Sands version but I have heard some other cuts and I am not that impressed. But I am always willing to give most anything a listen. I never heard of the Liverpool Five, ever. I will check them out.
Glad to hear that you will check out the LP5 version and I am pretty sure you will appreciate the approach taken by that band, most of whom were playing in London before Reg and the Troggs got together. Both records were released at the same time but RCA did not promote the LP5 version as they should have. If you agree, you may wish to add their You Tube video to your favorites and join with others who are trying to get more appreciation for this "Best Kept Secret of Brit Rock"
I did give it a listen and it reminds me a lot of the blue-eyed soul versions by groups during this time. I hear a lot of the Rascals in the LP5 mixed with the sass of the Sonics and Wailers.
Can't take credit for the photography or the model but I did make a great choice to use the photos. I knew when I saw these shots she was the right one to use.
I have a flickr account for photos and she is listed there. She is a photographer, (and an even better model in my opinion)and people do not use names there so there you go.
when i was 15 or so i was lucky enough to be allowed to borrow a crate of 45s from a guy who'd enjoyed his teens here in the Uk thru the 60s. Troggs, Small Faces, Donavon (Hurdy Gurdy Man amazin) Manfred Mann, Spencer Davis, The Marbles - Only One Woman I could go on and on ...
I know this song as done by others, including Evie Sands and the American Breed. When I saw the title, I pretty much expected it to be the same song because I think it was written or co-written by Chip Taylor (Jon Voight's brother), who also wrote the Troggs' biggest hit song, "Wild Thing".
