Hold on, that's not entirely true. Fish are being kept for eating every day, and that's not a bad thing to do as long as you keep a reasonable amount, or what the law permits. Here zander fillets costs 30 € in the supermarket, I'm not crazy to pay that kind of money for something that i can catch myself. Just keep what you need and release everything else.
That's just dumb. If the fish i catch are big enough, i kill them. And i eat them. And they taste a hundred times better than the ones from the supermarket ;)
fisherman, when I was a young man, learning from my experience.
You will not find Pike in our supermarkets in UK by the way!
I mainly fly-fish for trout these days, and if they are over the legal limit, I kill them humanely and quickly, even before I take them out of landing-net, or taking hook out.
What is "big enough"? I think you are talking about YOUR OWN PROBLEMS
i always release my pikes, so they grow up to over 5kg and the i will fish again..! Sportfishing is good for world.. Btw finland is a very good country to fish
Watch Americans fishing for big game fish, big tuna, it makes me sick, as most of them seem to have no respect for the fantastic fish they catch-they do not even kill them humanely-I mean, knock them on the head-they just GAFF them with
hook (this should be banned) then throw them in the chiller on their fishing boat, to

Okay, but I did say we never ate them
in my story-we buried them in woods.
Tell me, why cod fished out in North Sea, and even worse in Irish Sea?
Why, because too many of the big hen fish have been taken
A lot of salmon fisherman are now putting back big hen fish, for reasons of conservation, and they pay a lot of money
for this fishing
Here in England, a lot of Eastern Europeans have a bad reputation for
killing everthing they catch, from very small sea-bass to small roach

I ADMIT
When I was 17 years old, I caught two pike in one day, both around 18lbs -I killed them both,
-took them home to show off to my family, what a clever little fisherman I was
-they ended up in deep-freeze, but we never ate them, and eventually they were buried in nearby forest.
As the years went by, I realised my mistake, and still not have FORGIVEN myself for that day of killing
but
I learned a lesson, which I have never forgotten
please take note young fisherman

Thanks for your most considered response.

Yes you are right on putting back big hen fish.
In Uk the trawlermen (netting fish) have taken too many big hen fish (thousands of eggs lost)
=North Sea fished out, and Irish Sea very
few cod left
-now they are going to fish-out
Pollack as well-all very sad
'Pollack fish fingers, here we go!
-total madness
darkmossie633 2 years ago
Seems like good fisherman, good catch and release, as Pike are not very good to
eat, and keep water free of diseased fish
and too small fish
darkmossie633 2 years ago
Just posted a new video with a bigger pike, check it out!
XquiZZiT2007 2 years ago
Pike are fantastic to eat you just have to keep the smaller fish! and throw those big hens back. and always remember to remove the Y bones.
