  • this song chokes me up every time. then again, my dad sucks.

  • Anyone else notice that the kid is "Bean" from the Disney channel show "Even Stevens"

  • @Elonth

Sad cause I never got back? Hah, hardly the case unlike you I wasn't a annoying pestering child so my father stayed with family. Though I can support your father decision to leave your pathetic lying ass. 'I punched my father in the face cause he tried to make up.' Like that suppose gain you any respect or admiration here. How about you do the right thing and correct your father mistake and kill yourself, the world doesn't need more attention craving lying bastards like you dweeb.

  • You spend your whole life "not thinking about your father," but your goal in life is to spite him. That's the same as spending your whole life on your father.

  • @TomCze18 epic comment but the people on the internet wont thumbs up that.. people dont like looking at things how they are...

  • @Elonth

You just trying make yourself sound like a badass when you're really a bitch.

  • @Elonth

Bullshit, daddy never loved and wouldn't even care to give a shit if you beg him to show up and I sure he'd fuck you to make up for all those years he didn't choose to raise your dumbass.

  • @indeyago sounds like your just sad you never got the chance to get payback. and for the record i gave up on him years ago the only reason i even agreed to meet him was so i could show him how much ive grown to hate him

  • its my birthday today. my father showed up after 10 years to make amends for my 22nd birthday. i slugged him in the face and left. came home watched this video and noticed it was uploaded on my birthday 2 years ago. best 22nd birthday gift ever

  • sorry rockel1986, I meant grinchychristmas, I hope grinchy christmas is bl*wing my j*rk*ff padre

  • f**k my dad, and rockel1986. I hope your both bl**ing each other.

  • It's Beans!

    8D

  • This one never gets old. Wish it didn't ring so true.

  • My dad who left me my mom and my twin sister when we were both 8 for another woman showed me the song wonderful by everclear before he moved and told me to listen to it when i miss him and feel sad....only good thing hes ever done was show me this band was THANKS ASSHOLE!!!

P.S. your music sucks compared to mine ;)

    --Amaliya soon to be Osbourne

  • lol 2 things-

    1- that is definitely beans

2- this song makes me feel better if anything about not having a dad cause ik lots of other people dont either and it makes me feel less alone

  • YouTube=my own personal time machine...*sigh

  • My dad didn't even give me a name. At least my step-dad gave me a beating. I hope I am never as terrible as my father figures.

  • you all wanna know something dumb as shit? My dad told me this was his favorite song because he never knew his father and the jackass turns around and pulls the same shit and leaves my mother bankrupt among other things. So dad I gotta say fuck you.

  • BEANS!

  • is that beans from even stevens at the beginning?

  • @sarcasim18 yup. Steven Anthony Lawrence. haha

  • I just got back from burying my father today, who passed away yesterday. Yes he left me when I was young, and also gave me his same name, but I was able to see him this past month and a half when he told me he was diagnosed with cancer. In his last days he asked me to forgive him for leaving me, to which I told him that I had forgiven him long ago. During these last few weeks, I grew to love him, and even though I only have a few memories of him, I will never forget him, Te amo padre mio!!!

  • It's really sad how some dad's don't care about their kids. My dad is still around but never talks to me or even give me a second look. I used to be a daddy's girl be when I went punk he called me a freak and never gave two shits after that. Ignores my mom then bitches about how no one ever talks to him and how much his life sucks.... It made me stronger and made me protective of the people I love. Some dad's are assholes, but at least most people can learn from their fathers mistakes.

  • CLASSIC 1:16 Portland, OR Everclear- Oregon proud like me

  • When this song came out i was in high school, and felt like it was written for me. My father is a selfish prick, who did nothing to be involved in my life EVER, and also created several other children after me whom he has had no relationships with. He's a deadbeat , alcoholic, pill popping, and god knows what else selfish piece of crap. He gave me my name and walked away, and profoundly changed who i am.

  • i love this song, makes me cry

  • My grand-daddy pased away last Christmas and i didnt know him at all. Neither did my dad. My dad told himself when his father left that he would never-ever do that to his kids..... He kept his promise :) He has 2 Girls that love him but he cant see them often since he lives in WA and we live in OR. But atleast he calls and tries. :)

  • 3:25 choked up when the little boy tries to chase after his dad :(

  • this song reminds me of when my dad wouldnt spend time with me after my parents got a divorce all he did was stay on computer talking to a lady he never spent time with me when i came over :(

  • I was listening to this song when I was like, 5. Little did I know then how much relevance it'd have.

  • man, what happened to music nowadays? there are songs like these that bring up popular issues that can be related to a lot of people in this country that aren't sung anymore and what we have now is music about money, sex, hitting up the parties/clubs, or songs that just make no sense anymore..

  • I made amends with my father when I was 33. He passed away from cancer when I was 36. I feel fortunate that I was able to get that chip off of my shoulder when I had the chance.

  • Deadbeat dads never change. My dad hasn't spoken to me in 14 years. They're shitheads and they don't even deserve to be a part of the families they left. This song eats me up inside. And to all the good fathers out there, thank you.

  • @5393BUBBA I know what you're saying man, My dad ran out on me and my mom when I was 2 and a half years old. I still remember that day surprisingly. Ever since then I barely heard from him and he got married to this other woman. I may be lucky if I hear from him at least once a year. I graduated high school in 2011 (I'm 18) and though he said he'd show up, he bailed a week before I graduated. Now, he owes me $800 which he makes excuses about. This song really hits close to home.

  • My So called father Gave my mother Divorce papers while in labor with me. This song eats me up at the thought of what I missed out of.

  • @xtremegrooves i agree same thing, i found him when i was 18 he borrowed 3k that took a loan on my school money have not seen him or the money since i hope there is a hell

  • LOL it's Beans,

  • and parents make sure you don't lie to your kids telling them the other parent is the bad one. my dad made me hate my mom for 14 yrs telling me she all bad. now i grew up i wanna slap the shit outta my dad :)

  • dont even know my fathers name or his age

  • i only clicked on this cause i saw them on mobbed

  • I dedicated this song to that father of mine on his birthday...all he gave was a name.

  • @StarOfTheMoon32 mine diddnt even give me his name god bless you

  • i still rock everclear in 2012 this is the kind of music im proud to say when im 60 this will be my golden oldies

  • @mitchb88m ..never thought about it like that but your so right..thats funny. Miss the 90's

  • The lead singer reminds me of T-Bag from Prison Break, anyone else?

  • my dad was in this band

  • STILL love this song. When did it come out?

  • @Burnsengine around 1994

  • fuck vevo!

  • I feel so fortunate to have a mom and dad who were there for me despite how hard it must have been. I'm a parent now and raising kids is the hardest job I've ever had. But I love them and would never ever leave no matter what. My heart goes out to everyone who didnt have parents with the sense to stay and do the right thing. I love this song because it reminds me how lucky I am which I will never forget.

  • Oh my Gosh!!! Beans was just a baby, soooooo cute :)

  • I'm a father of two boys who just got back home tonight from an eight hour trip to see them for the first time in almost a year. My wife divorced me for another man and moved him in two months after I was gone. Couldn't afford rent and had to leave my boys behind. Heard this song on the radio and it broke my heart. Don't know when I will be able to afford to see them again. She takes half my check in Child Support. Not all dads that leave are bad, but some don't care and that's so sad.

  • @4thechozen Dude thats sad... im sorry man. in a way i know how you feel

  • you can write and call when they get older they will know the truth, as long as you do all that you can that's all that matters. Life is hard trust me I know, but if you have god in your heart things happen for you not to you just be in there lives even if its by phone, as much as you can and everything will work out everyone gets what they deserve sooner or later!

  • @4thechozen I feel for you man. Im in the same boat as are many others. If you lose your job and cant pay that child support then your seen as a deadbeat and risk going to jail on top of that.

  • @4thechozen So your kids are shown dads only good for money, not love (apparently only mothers are capable of providing that). If the mother doesnt let you see your kids though, its pretty much at 0 risk. They dont have the bruden of worrying about jail looming over thier head if they have a a reduced income or hit a snag in life. Now of course there are many many many exceptions to this...

  • @ryanefoley82 On the bright side, statistics show that children who are alienated from the non-custodial parent usually end up seeking out the other parent on their own when older. Of course there is no replacement for watching your children grow though.

  • @4thechozen You deserve a medal! Good job! My biological father was one of those assholes(sorry for the blunt language)that abandoned me before I was even born and refused to pay child support even though he had a good job, my mother worked her ass off in her own small business to support me.

I'm glad he left though, because he was abusive, my mother's experience taught me one thing, no kids for me until I am sure I've met the right guy, and I agree, absent dads get a bad rap.

  • @TheHDH83 I had the same situation Man- I'm a kid and I know when I have my own kids- I'm not gonna be like my selfish pr*ck of a father!!!

  • @TheHDH83 Thanks and sorry to hear of your experience. My father was also very selfish and I tried to make up for it with my kids. Unfortunately, even those who we think are right at the time can change just a few years into the marriage. Today's society accepts divorce too easily. Best of luck with finding the right partner and kudos for being a responsible future parent

  • @4thechozen sometimes a new guy can be good for the children (i'm not saying your not a good father, or that this new guy is better than you...i'm saying my step dad did shit my dad wouldn't do) i would suggest you check out "The Other F Word" to see a strange angle of parenthood...including an acoustic performance of this song.

  • @4thechozen I'm so sorry :(

  • @4thechozen: Hang on--it'll get better. You have phone and email, and your children will be all the stronger for having a loving birth father.

  • @4thechozen I went through thesame thing man Iam having the same issues. Havent seen my daughter since March 2011 so I know how it feels. were strong and love our kids we will figure it out. keep your head up.

  • @4thechozen No not all dads that leave are bad, just the ones that dont care and leave for good. As long as you try your best to be with them, and call them..stay in touch. The older they get the more the understand the situation. good luck

  • @4thechozen The same sort of stuff happened to my husband. His ex-wife is a complete loser who pretends to be "Christian" and smiles as she takes in half of his paycheck for two kids that she literally turkey-bastered from condoms...he loves his children, but he can't have contact with them anymore because she's so insane. She lives at home with her wealthy parents, he paid for her college degree, she cheated on him and kicked him out, and now she gets half of his check and we struggle. Loser.

  • @4thechozen Keep smiling. At some point, there has to be justice. It's karma, right? :-)

  • @4thechozen dude hope you can pull through and be the man you wanna be ... sounds to me like you have the heart to be the man they need you to be .. be strong bro

  • @4thechozen wow, Bro thats fucked up, I wish more dads were like u

  • BEANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anyone else sing this song as "Mother" of Mine?

  • @madskrillz2 no, but that comment just made me want to give you a hug

  • Does that other guitar guy look like Justin Long

  • @0077dk yes lol he does

  • one of the best songs of all time f all dads let em try but it will never be ok

  • @ompaa8942 not all fathers are like this. dont bash all fathers because a couple of them are assholes. I mean my dad hasn't done much for me but i will always love him because hes my dad. Without a father no person in the world would be alive.

  • Oh my god. It's Beans :D

  • "father of mine, tell what do you see when you look back at your wasted life and you don't see me?" <--- what a great fucking lyric! #everclearlove

  • My Daddy gave me a name and he walked away! I was able to pull my self up and do the best I could to survive

  • Oh damn, this fuckin song makes me cry everytime.

  • Beans!!! Heheh.

  • 23 people had fathers that were there for them

  • This song means so much to me and many other people, it's not right how this happens.

  • I have a non existent relationship with my own biological father, so this song has always hit home with me.

  • do you see the haters bar

  • If you watch Behind the Music: Everclear, in this video Art and some of other bandmates actually started crying at first when they first played this because this song meant so much them and they emotionally was hard for them to play it. I totally respect that, I mean music should be that way/

  • I remember that kid

  • @Maltcider Is that beans from even stevens

    "Did you walk the wayyyyyyyyy..."

Yes I did... god those people are corrupted when it comes to money. They still blame Jews!!! I didnt care actually we all were cool till I met the other "type" of society. Ya I dont like them one bit. (this music video is totally opposite of me but its not what you think)

  • BEANSSSSSSSSS

  • "congrats to proud parents Beyonce and Jay-z" Great ad placement

  • Unfortunately both of my parents were like this, I was put in foster care.

  • @vegedock That really sucks. Im sorry.

  • is that the kid from Kicking and Screaming?

  • It is scary how accurately this describes my childhood.

  • replace this with mother, and i can 100% relate

  • Godammit, Beans had a promising career. BEANS.

  • BEANS from even stevens...bangin

  • DEPRESSION>:(

  • Think I haven't felt pain?

  • have you ever heard of la grange

  • Howcome every time i look up a good song it is from the 90's? ;)

  • @XxHCLxX Because your trying to dip into some thumbs by saying something you know everyone agrees with since they're watching this video.

    And your adopted.

  • @AwfulWalrus You're

  • BEANS

  • I remember when I first heard this song. I was in the car with my dad listening to Now 2 and track 11 cam on with Father of Mine. My dad skipped the song immedietly. I asked him why (cause I liked the song) and he just told me that I didnt nead to hear that song. A year later he disappeared for 7 years. Hes been clean for a long time now, and I hope that he stays that way. I love my dad, but this song still holds true for me whether he likes it or not.

  • @ImaBelieberFTW i like this song to and it suks he disappeared for 7 years :(

  • im pretty sure that guy was in neds declassified

  • kinda sad, my mom took care of me. but i love my dad and try to be so much like him. i should do more for my mom, shes a great woman, well the best. dont take for granted what you have kids.

  • as a man who's father committed suicide when I was 6 yrs old, this song is fucking whiny

  • @comerbp82 a lot of their songs are but its till catchy

  • My DAD never MOLESTED ME! ps what whinney bitch song

  • My dad pooped too much.

  • its beans from evenstephans!

  • @Maplesohie

I was just going to say that.

  • I only had my mom up to the age of two years, never to know her voice or remember her face due to my father's hand. He is currently in prison and I have found it in my heart to forgive him. Life has been hard, but holding on to painful grudges only causes you to misery.

  • It seems like the 'perfect home' doesn't exists... Everybody seems to care about themselves more than anything else and others eventually stop giving a damn. I came from a really fucked up home, but I will, when it happens, make sure that my family has that 'perfect home' or will try my damn best everyday to make sure that we're moving towards it.

  • My dad didn't want me and wanted nothing to do with me when I was born. Now he wants a relationship and tells me he loves me. FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK HIM!

  • @boostain12 He was propabley young and scared at the idea of having a kid, so he ran.

Now that he's older he's wiser and wants to make up for his mistake.

  • That kid is totally beans from even stevens

  • beans!! :D

  • my dad left before I was born and moved to England where he re-married and had a daughter a couple years younger then me I found out about here when I was 17 after giving my dad another chance when I was 15 where he walked out on me again because I'm a fuck up as he puts it he now has another wife who he has 3 kids to my sister won't speak to me because she thinks I'm like him I'm not though and never will be I don't hate him but I'll never forgive him

  • Father of mine where the FUCK have you been. I just closed my eyes and the weed is gone again!

  • @simplysherif It's not racism; it's truth. It's not saying that "blacks" are bad or anything. It WAS tuff living in a black neighborhood being a little white boy in the early 70's. Thats just the way things were back then. ( the lower income apartments was the only thing my single 20-something mum could afford)

  • this song hit a nerve when it came out and still to this day it hits that same nerve...

  • BEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNSSSSSSS

  • BEANS!

  • that white singer is fuking racist

  • @TheCristian1404 no way man.. maybe you have never been a scared white boy in a black neighborhood

  • fathers of the 80s generaly did suck ballz not everyones but alot of them were pretty fail

  • its now easy being a white boy in hawthorne california

  • BEANS

  • BEANS!!!

  • ITS BEANS

  • This is A Boy Named Sue of the 90's.

  • this song deserves 100,547,703 views... This Song doesnt apply to me but I still Love it!

  • It's Little Beans! from even stevens!

    #90's kids :)

  • So many kids end up like this it's so sad.

  • Its that kid from every tv show and early 2000's movie! hahaha!

  • I don't hate you dad, where ever you are or have been I still love you. I hope to meet you someday.

  • my father left me when I was 12. 20 years later, he is offering a place to stay and a chance to heal (the way I see it). He had his reasons. Better than my mom who gave up on herself a long time ago. He still wants to make a life and so do I. Great song. However, my father has always had a good heart. I hope Everclear finds peace one day.

  • @grantleniency not all of us are lucky as you. i haven't seen my father in 8 going on 9 years. this song has more meaning to me than he does sadly.

  • This band is so overrated! ACDC rocks!

  • @MikoAmuChan FUCK U PREP!!! THIS BAND ROCKS!!! FUCK UR MUSIC!!!!

  • @SimonXAmu At least it isn't poser music!

  • this band sucks backstreet boys are better

  • @theprincesskairi18 hey kairi. backstreet boys are poo poo. everclear is one of the greatest bands to ever be formed. also BE MY AUNTIE AGAIN U DUMB PREP!!!

  • @SimonXAmu

leave amu alone she hates u

  • 18 ppl actually had dads that gave a shit about them

unlike the 2597 of us who know what it feels like to not have a father figure and plans to do better than our own "biological" dad

  • @jeadlz So I'm supposed to dislike this song now?

  • @jeadlz It hurts so fucking bad.......

  • Hearing all these sob stories makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. c:

  • One of the best songs out there for people with "daddy issues" (yeah, me). It's so raw and on point.

  • this video makes me want to be a good father more than anything.

  • My son's father abandoned him and his sister when they were toddlers. My son swore he'd never abandon his own child. Now, he has. I never thought he'd do something like this after knowing the pain of being left by his own father. My grandson is really messed up by it.

  • @baghdadroz That's how it would seem but people usually follow their parents footsteps even if it is the bad ones.

  • @baghdadroz oh.... I'm so sorry about that. I really mean it. Hopefully someday soon your son will see the terrible mistake he has made and try to make amends. I hope it turns out well for your grandson

  • My dad left when I was 4 after beating the living shit out of me and then came back when I was nine just to beat the living shit out of me some more. He lied to my mom and me and we had to move to a bad part of town. Im 13 now and I have to work just to stay in school and help keep my mom and brother and sister ok. All cause the sorry Rat basterd is to much of an asshole to pay child support. I hope you burn in hell Dad.
