Wow I absolutely have to get this immediately after watching this. So beautiful so beautiful. The sensuality and oh god Mozart sounds so glorious as always. Such passion
the ratings for Mozart should be LOVE or deaf ignorant and damned! He is proof of human genius and a constant source of inspiration and the connection to God!!!
Brilliant compilation. A beautiful, real and sensuous performance. The girls beautiful, men handsome. They REALLLY look as if they are in love with one another. Mozart rules.
forse la più grande opera mai composta? perfezione stilistica, arie sublimi, ironia e mistero... intrecci assurdi ma pieni di significati.... Assolutamente divino il nostro Mozart...
Bejun all I have to say is F@*! YOU C&%#!!. THIS IS ABSOLUTE BLASPHAMY TO CUT MOZART'S MUSIC LIKE THIS!!EVERYTIME THE MUSIC IS CUT I NEARLY HAVE A GODDAMN STROKE!!!
Cosi is the most musically advanced of the Da Ponte operas and is a living testimony to Mozart's encapsulation of the human experience in music expressed within the intention of 'enlightenment', and thus forces the engaged thinker and listener to delve and reflect upon a higher sense of consciousness. That is the Genius of Mozart.
Silverlin - I take it you mean BLASPHEMY not BLASPHAMY? Please understand what Bejun has achieved - a summary of the complete opera in You-Tube's 10 minutes, for a new audience to be introduced to the joys of this production of Mozart. Its not good to be profane and then expect people to want to read your pompous synopsis. 'Bravo' to him. 'Buy the DVD' to you.
bejun - Why not just put the whole opera up in 10 minute slots rather then cut bits out of the middle to try and make it fit?Kindness - You deserve a gold sticker for finding the typo. I don't believe i actually used 'profanity', but rather implied it. Just so you know i actually have the DVD and eventually will be uploading the entire thing in 10 minute slots as suppose to cutting and dicing the shit out of the music to make the entire thing fit inside of 10 minutes.
I too love this opera more than any other I think... Would really appreciate if the opening act here could be reposted in entirety. The weird cuts are really disappointing; great sections missing, Alfonso's whole discourse, Ferrando's "Una bella serenata," etc. BTW, where's the final number of Act II?
Sorry, just realized this is a whole-opera highlights. Still, haven't found if you've posted the whole sections of Act I opening and Act II finale... the other arias (Per pieta, etc) I love wholeheartedly. I fyou do repost, could you possibly number the sections? THANKS!!! Love your posts. -Ulf
Last night enjoyed this production (same set design, costumes, Dorabella) in the Opera Festival in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain). A marvelous night! Bravisimo!
I don't agree. This change just makes the plot completely illogical. We have to accept that the storyline IS stupid, seen from a psychological point of view. This is not about psychological realism. It's about philosophy, the thinking of the age of Enlightment. With a good direction, it can be charming and amusing. It'll never be a sincere, realistic story, though - does it have to?
I just LOVE Luca Pisaroni. I'm mad jealous of Anke's Dorabella, and nobody can blame her for the slip of heart to his Guglielmo. He's just as fabulous here as in the Amsterdam production. I can't wait to see his Don Giovanni!
I see what you're saying, and it's a lot less sexist that way, but I would only really buy it with Dorabella and Guglielmo. Fiordiligi has that whole dramatic aria in act two that shows she has no intention of "playing along". If she knew it was Ferrando, she would not have been that serious about the whole thing.
It's brilliantly done, because Guglielmo's behavour towards Fiordiligi keeps the suspense up to this look at the very very very end. Still, I can't see how they will be able to live with each other after this...
They took Fiordiligi and slutted her up a bit, didn't they? ;) The Dorabella and Don Alfonso are fantastic, though...love their voices and expressions. All in all, though, I definitely like the one with Simon Keenlyside and Susan Chilcott better. In that one, you'd actually buy the idea that the women wouldn't recognize their boyfriends...

Just in terms of the music alone, this is even better than the other two Mozart da Ponte operas. Every other choice is number four!
