  • there is no difference. ibanez only introduced new models as an excuse for new designs. just get whatever one you think looks best. i personally like the original rg4ex1

  • I have the RG4EXQM1 and i love it! can't stop playing it, and I don't even know how to play that well!

  • in case you still dont know, the only difference is the grain style of the top wood.

    QM= Quilted Maple

    FM= Flamed Maple

  • I'm probably too late to comment but don't get the RG4EXQM1, I've got one and it feels great but it's the only guitar I've ever had soooo many problems with and still have! and it goes out of tune constantly! I'm gonna see about the Ibanez 350DX so you might try that out but yea any guitar is better than the QM lol

  • @brando6136 heres the thing i got this guitar and it is perfect IF u get it set up properly and i did my research b4 buying this so u knew wat to do i got it set up and it blew me away this guitar can scream and it never goes out of tune divebombing or doing squeals and the pickups r good too

  • Get the RG4EXQM1

  • @demonzor86 already like october 2010

  • i just bought the rg4exqm1 I dont think the other one is being sold at guitar center anymore.

  • they're pretty much the same aren't they?

    I've been having the same problem

    I'll just go with the first one I can find in a local store

  • rg4exfm1. i bought one. works wonders. and now i got a band together. And Escape the Fate wants us to open for one of their shows.

  • rg4exqm1. im about to purchase one at guitar center for 450

  • is it worth the money?

  • @Guitarded1231 yes it is but i can decide on which one it is ive played both at guitar center in cerritos and i see the difference on the guitar u must be mentally retarded, and depcapataded to not get this guitar.

  • get the gray one. I just purchased one, and the damn thing is a beast! It can growl like a tiger and scream like a banshee. plus the 24th fret helps with stuff like megadeth & iron maiden. Its a fantastic axe, and you should defenitely invest in it.

  • @elPolloDeMuertos have you seen the blue cuz ive been hearing that the blue on the guitar POPS out too much and i want to look like im playing blues and not metal

  • @Tito13theGuitarist i mean playing metal not blues

  • Comment removed

  • i have blue quilt maple as well and i love it the trem is great and the neck is great the only complaint i had was that the pick ups just sounds really .... weird dimarzios fixed the probem but other then that i would recomend the s series with the zr trem. its alot more stable and feel better to me

  • Hey no problem at all. My trem doesn't go out of tune at all. I don't use it like Steve Vai would, kinda more like David Gilmour. All I can say is ya really gotta stretch the crap out of the guitar strings. The neck is very comfortable and fast. I guess its more like a flat area from the head stock to the heal of the neck. Fret access is no problem at all. Like I said in the earlier post, ya might have to watch the vid about the trem from Ibanez.

  • I have the Blue one in the quilt maple top RG4EXQM1 and it is even better lookin then any pic. It plays like a dream. Hope your used to the Edge 3 Trem, if not watch the video from Ibanez called "The Trem is your friend".

  • @texasff630 Awsome thnx for the heads up before i read your comment i wasnt sure whether to get the qm1 but u have convinced me btw how thin is then neck and how much time do u get b4 the trem goes out out tune but i doubt it will oh and how confortable does it feel in the lower frets.

  • all i noticed was the maple top, one is quilted, the other flame, so its mainly about which you like more

  • RG4EXFM1

  • The RG4EXQM1 is a very prime guitar and is top of the line for an affordable metal instrument. the down side is that they both are setlist guitars(guitars with locking tuners or tuner clamps that you see at the top of the neck which is used for only certain songs in one tuning) because it is very long to undo(with Alan wrench 2.5mm) tune, fix the bridge by adjusting it to fit dead center with saddle of bridge, and do the locking and make sure the pitch is correct. total time, 30 minutes or more

  • honestly, i do not understand the differences either. If i could i would write a huge description but im totally clueless. But i can offer you logical advice. I noticed one guitar was 100 dollars more, so it obviously has better craftsmanship or hardware. If your budget is limited, id go with the ibanez rg4exfm1 and spend the extra 100 dollars on some pickups because the 4exfm1 hardware is good iteself, despite being 100 dollars less in price.

  • @AgariRG I have an ibanez exfm1 and im happy with it, but sometimes id prefer a fixed bridge. If you know that youll be happy with a floyd rose bridge, then im sure youll be equally satisfied with the Qm1 or fm1. The greatest factor you should b considering is "do i really want this floyd rose trem." IF you like metal, have you ever considered some of the Schecter guitars with EMG pickups around the 400 ollar price range or ESP guitars?

  • @AgariRG i thought they were the same price $450 it said that on guitar center.com last time i checked and that was 60 seconds ago

  • @Tito13theGuitarist ohh i must have been mistaken then. Have you tried calling Ibanez company itself? That might provide you with the most convincing data. Other than that, you can just try going to guitar center and you can play on some of the random RGs there and see if you like any of them. They are all very similar

  • 2nd!!! flamed maple is an awesome finish.

  • They are the same thing only difference is that the "QM1" has quilted maple top and the "FM1" has flamed maple top. But personally the flamed maple looks more attractive than the quilted.

  • @omfgwtfbbqsauce one a u-shaped neck and the other has a wizard 2 neck and the pickups are different even tho there infininty pickups but thamks for the time u took to comment and help me

  • @Tito13theGuitarist No ALL standard RG's in the about $400 price range have the Wizard II neck. I have the RG4EXFM1 and the neck is a Wizard II, even check the Guitar Center website. The QM1 and FM1 both have infinity pickups but basically they are the same, just different numbers (eg. Inf3/Inf4). Trust me I know my Ibanez stuff. Sorry if I sound crazy and defensive lol

  • @omfgwtfbbqsauce kk thnx again and u realy do kno ur ibanez stuff

  • Go with the Ibanez RG4EXFM1 Because its a very good guitar & i have one that i just got & it plays very good

  • awsome song soad rulez
