  • somewhere the audio got messed up. maybe replace the file?

  • Quit focusing on the breaths....this is crappy quality, the harmony is spot on....

  • too bad this is in Mono & not stereo (right channel was missing!)

  • I love those old hymns I used to listen to in church in Belgium, Trinidad and here in North America. Great vocal harmony. I agree

  • I love all the old hymns ,that I grew up with in Belgium, Trinidad and America.

  • What Gaither video is this from?

Surely someone must have a copy without the "heavy breathing".

  • What Gaither video is this from? Doesn't anyone have a copy without the heavy breathing?

Even so, I watch this video more than any other - just love it!

  • heart lifting to say the least, my soul felt the words, thank you

  • What beautiful harmonies, great sound!

  • But ktsinginglady breathing is one of the things that keeps us alive.

Well, that along with God's grace. (=

  • the tenor isnt really supposed to be a part that goes "omg hear that tenor!" like the GVB, he just is supposed to harmonize with the lead. the bass supports the lead, and the baritone completes the chord as needed

  • okay, someone needs to warn me when chords come along like the one at 5:25...wow!

  • 5:25...i was not prepared for that! chord to die for!!!

  • Please Dont miss out on ALL the Beautiful singing in Heaven!

  • Also, I think there is too much bass on this clip. On the DVD I have seen, one could here the discant (1st tenor) much better.

  • I will agree there isn't enough tenor.. but you can never have enough bass :D

  • I agree you can NEVER have enough BASS!

  • @missmarple2003 in abrbershop you are not supposed to hear the tenor as the melody... that is the job of the lead, or second tenor, but proper term is lead)

  • I have seen the original dvd, "Amazing Grace", and the sound was not this bad. I am so bummed, because I have longed to hear this song again, but the 'gasps of death' distract me too much. Can something be done?

  • which dvd is this?

  • i think the bass singer impressed Gene MacDonald. Very Nice

  • acoustix are my favorite quartet ever. The vocal majority also does this song, and i love it done by both the big group and the quartet. very nice.

  • Beautiful!

  • Beautiful, i love Acoustix. When i hear this, it makes me tear up.. =,)

  • I think 8,000 of the views are mine!

  • Wow what an amazing group! Some of the overtones I'm hearing are out of this world! The Bassman is the bomb!

  • i just met the bass tonight at a vocal majority rehearsal!

  • dude no way so did i!!!!

  • he is my choir teacher!!! I am blessed :D

  • Ah, way cool! Which one?

  • I love hearing these guys! One of the members is the choir teacher at my old school. He is such an awesome guy and has great insight in the the music world.

I think this sounds incredible I love it.

  • Which one was the teacher?

  • the bass is my choir teacher..he teaches at Prestonwood Christian Academy in Texas! I am one blessed 17 year old!!

  • absolutely beautiful except that everytime they inhale it is sooooo loud, pull the mics down and it will be perfect, the music and the singing is beautiful do not think i am criticizing i feel that it takes away from the beauty though

  • the mics are too sensitive, gaithers do this, also in that church where they sing Holy is Thy name, but even louder, you are right

  • oh wow... im only 19 and im all into the music at the moment like my chemical romance, rihanna, lady gaga but i've grown up in a christian home and i never get sick of listening to this one meldoy. my parents have all the bill gaither dvds and i've parctially been brought up on them. LOVE THEM TO PIECES!!! in this video of 6:55 onwards its just amazing and the look at bill's face at 7:39 - 7:40.... priceless :D

  • 7:28 .. the best part!!!!that part gives me goosebumbs...

    its amazing...

  • that was literally 5 and a half minutes of pure goosebumps. ...oh my. i love barbershop.

  • is that Greg Clancy at 5:56 in the shadows... from max q ...vocal majority... and other

  • No. That's actually Indiana local Woody Wright. Awesome talent.

  • Wonderful...

  • this is still some of the best singing ive heard today. above all pop singers, r&b or anything. natural talent.

  • geezopeat that was gorgeous!

  • i think this recording is better than the c/d recording. this one sounds more natural and equal. plus, in this recording, some of the chords they nail. this is amazing. *****/*****

  • I came across this while doing a search for Acoustix. Man, that is just beautiful. I like to sing barbershop, but that medley puts tears in my eyes every time I listen to it. I wish I had their pitch. Now, if I could just get some of the "boyz" at church to try barbershop!

Wonderful, I will listen over and over and over......

  • 6:13 does he hit a top b?

wow!!! he is so lucky if he can hit notes like that.

  • He does indeed.

  • he can go higher even, I know he hit a Db in their "Shine on Your Shoes" medley...see if you can find a recording of it (I know it's on Jazz Jazz Jazz), it's pretty amazing

  • Near the Cross i mean

  • i was just blown away....wow. In the Cross is one of my favorite hymns

  • The bassist here was my choir teacher in High School and he's crazy hilarious.

  • DID YOU HEAR THAT BASS?!

Simply gorgeous. Gifts from God in my opinion.

  • that bass gives me goosebumps.... simply beautiful!!

  • They have an unbelievable harmony. That was awesome!

  • Dear Hoover4000, This is exquisite listening. I have adored Bill Gaither for so long; it's just like him to sing the praises of others. Isn't The Old Rugged Cross almost unbelievable! I love every note and you are so wonderful to think of us for whom these songs have been parts of our whole (long) lives. I have just heard of a 2008 saying; " something or someone is spot on" and The Acoustix are def. SPOT ON!!!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • The breathing was SOOOO disturbing to me! I had a hard time getting past it! But the song is absolutley gorgeous!

  • hey, you may hear them taking breathes but at least you know they aren't lipsyncing!! lol

  • The breathing is less noticable on the DVD.

  • You are right...purchase the DVD and you will not notice the breathing at all...only the music..hear the angels singing.

  • If you listen to Bill Gaither you will hear the same loud breathing. It is a result of the sound system or video compression or some other outside reason. I agree that it is distracting but I hope you don't think it is the fault of the singers. I have heard them live many times and they are all technically proficient singers with wonderful vocal capacity and I have never noticed unusually loud breathing. Such an amazing group.

  • They still got it after all these years :)

  • Being an old Barbershopper... (We have a women's organization too), It chills me to hear these chords ring for the Glory of God. IMAGINE what the Barbershop Quartets and Choruses will sound like in the "perfection" of Heaven. WOW, I can hardly wait !!! Thank you Accoustix and Thank you Bill Gaither. D.Aldridge, Ohio

  • Acoustix were the cross stones between the society and the main stream. They were awesome. SO is that new quartet "Glory Days" Its the same bass and lead doing bari.

  • gosh this song is awesome!

  • man they look old!

  • You would too if you kept their schedule.

  • ...and not one peep from the group through the whole piece :)

  • Goose bumps, goose bumps! They are incredible! The only small thing that disturbed a little is the laud breathing noices the hand mics pic up. And Todd is absolutely one ofthe best tenors ever, no doubt of that :) Thanks for posting!

  • Yeah that's one of the reasons I like one mic for the whole quartet. It doesn't pick up the breaths as much.

  • puff screens will stop that, too!

  • absolutely friggin incredible! Thank you so much for posting this!

  • The significance of the cross of Jesus to our salvation cannot be measured. Eight years ago, while metastatic ocular melanoma carried my sister to the end of this earthly life at age 57, she truly came to understand the full meaning of the cross, and she leaned heavily on it. Thanks hoover4000, for this video.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!! :-)

  • what year was this. this is a great video....ive had all acoustix albums for a long time....they are awesome

  • this was filmed just this year...

  • I love Acoustix. They will always be my favorite quartet. I like so many but it was these guys who first got me into it many years ago. Pure magic.....

  • thank you for a blessing.

  • awesome....so glad you posted this

  • What amazing harmony.
