27 years maybe(since 1982)?and they splited in 1997, they held a last concert for that(which most films on youtube are from). A year after that, their lead guitarist Hide committed suicide, and that caused a sensation at that time, cause they were like the biggest band ever in Japan's history. And they collected and performed this song " tears" on his ceremony, that was a really fxxking sad scene. In 2007 they united with the lead guitarist from Luna Sea until now...

well... aparenteley he died doing something that should be helping him instead... he used to have problems with his shoulder/arm... and in his physiotherapy he used to tie something up to hold his arm while he lengthen it... possibily drunk he ended up hanging himself...
