The most memorable scene from the book is when the mayor is about the throw Lina into the prison room and says something like "now you'll find out what it's like in the dark." It's ironic because the town has been both literally and metaphorically "in the dark" for the past 200 years. Also at that exact moment, the lights go out, allowing Lina to escape.

Some people have a deal with the fact that the main characters were kids, but I'd just like to point out; you're talking about Saoirse Ronan here. One of the best child-actors (if not the best) of our generation. So that totally makes up for it. Saoirse makes this movie.

OMG! I love the books and LOVE the MOVIE! They didn't change much and they did almost everything like the book. It was just amazing. Not many movies are made exactly like the book, but I think they did a wonderful job on this movie.

Because it's a movie, it's actually a lot harder to hide the fact that it's underground. It's easier to tell it from the beginning and use the drama within the city to keep things moving and interesting rather than hope that no one makes the realization that it's underground until the end.

it was a great movie. the characters were portrayed just how you imagin them reading the book. the visuals were fantastic. if there was anything wrong with the movie it would probably be the effects which were quite cheesy at times

the movie actually is exactly how we both imagined it would look like from characters to places and it really kept to the book- with only 2 or 3 minor changes that in no way affected the plot at all

watching this trailer makes me want to go watch the movie again xD

and reread the book ;)
