What type of plant and animals are best for a Northwest temperature?
Have you compared your data with regular agriculture and aquaponic plant growth? If you had can you share it with me?
I also need to ask if you have compared the energy and water use comparing regular agriculture and aquaponics. If you had could you please share it with me? Can you make a profit out of aquaponics? How?
Have you thought of having a Community aquaponics project?
I was watching Central Texas Gardener on PBS and Skip Richter the local expert stated that winter is not the dormant season in Central Texas, Summer is. Once temp in the growing medium gets above 85 F biological activity slows down for everyone. I cover my reservoirs and grow bins with foil to reflect light/heat. I cover as much of the surface of the beds with a white neoprene.I keep reservoirs on the north side of my rig, Shade cloth and extra air bubblers also help productivity:)
@DTurbomr2 Sorry for not getting to you sooner, Every bin has too fill at the same time so I adjusted the outflow of every bin individually. I don't adjust the inflow, just the outflow. The pump runs off a programmable digital timer. Once the rig was set up I timed how long it took the pump to fill the tanks when the drains were closed, then I opened them a little and added time. I eventually ended up with a three minute on cycle. They shouldn't drain too fast or slow. Flood/drain method. HOLLAH
i wanna make an aquaponic system and there is none of its kind in my country can u tell me how to make a timer and a homemade pump by the way i am just 13

Are you producing enough food to offset the electricity cost?

@drahm33 Yes. It helps to focus on growing nutrient dense foods

hows the mosquito?

@keithsiao None whatsoever. The fish eat the larvae.

@keithsiao the water is moving constantly too. Mosquitos like still water to land on and lay their eggs.
