  • A crucifix shaped sword? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there a lot of swords with that basic shape? :)

  • so hilarious

  • everytime i listen to david mitchell talk i feel i know less & less.. but much enlightened by the knowledge he imparts thro his rants. brilliant guy.

  • AWESOME!

  • Is that Bill O'Reilly at the end? lol

  • cooking with Ian Brady? Does Myra know?

  • Mitchell... you're a beautiful human being! If you were a woman, I'd marry you!

  • Fuck off with your ghost ideas!

  • 2:40 "Everything I know, which is not a lot,...."

    I bet.

  • I would pay to watch a cardinal say "fuck off with your ghost ideas".

  • 5:35 lmfao!!!!!

  • are you fucking kidding me?? is that footage real? first he makes as if the guy is blowing him, and then he hops and looks constipated??

  • This is hilarious, he's great, there's this great new fansite I've found, called that david mitchell fansite, it's great.

  • Sean Lock's brilliant: "The Argos Christmas catalogue's more spiritual..." Haw!

  • I'm laughing so much it hurts at the final clip! It's the way his fit just so suddenly comes out of nowhere. Amazing!

  • @Hyperion004 : To be fair, when the priest waggles his hand about over the guy's head like he's shooing away a wasp, and babbles, "bythetrueGod the livingGodtheholyGod", ... it's a bit of a preview :0)

  • 5:33

  • oh my shit that's hilarious!

  • Anyone wearing robes, and doing spells - which let's face it, is what all that bullshit "I expel thee" stuff is: doing spells - should never be taken seriously. Ever.

In fact, the robes on their own are usually enough.

  • @flankspeed Good to see such tolerance in the YouTube community

  • @matcost92 : There's a BIG difference between tolerating something, and taking it seriously.

  • My Dad said the Priest in that clip was famous, he was meant to be serious when doing that.

  • Yeah, his name is Rev.Christopher Neil-Smith, he's done thousands of supposed exorcisms. Hilarious clip

  • So obviously fake.

  • that priest looks like a midleaged guy with epilepsy trying to take a dump in front of a strobe light

  • its weird wen u look at this u see how thin he is now

  • lol, actually Christians do believe in ghosts, silly David. If they've read the Bible properly anyway.

  • I concur.

  • And zombies.. Matthew 27:51-53

  • ...and a talking donkey...

  • Religionists should just GROW THE FUCK UP!!

  • Best ending ever!!!

  • "Fuck off with your ghost ideas"

  • omg,

I literally lol'ed like crazy at the priest shaking the martiny/blow job

  • Where would we be without David Mitchell?

  • it truely would be hell on earth!

  • In a far less colourful world. He's the nearest thing to a god we have :D

  • Well, it just goes to show you can't be too careful.

  • Hardcore.

  • Bless Melinda, she says 'Everything I know, which is not alot...'

  • It just goes to show you can't be too careful!

  • It just goes to show you can't be too careful.

  • what's the "invalid comments" bit about above the video??

  • I was just thinking that myself. Maybe Youtube has taken to deciding whether or not people's opinions expressed within the videos are suitable for everyone to hear. Some form of censorship ? Fail.

  • It just goes to show you can't be too careful!

(I'm glad this has caught on by the way)

  • Is there anywhere I can see the whole interview?

  • I think the whole episode is up on Y-tube.. Try putting "David Mitchell TV heaven Telly Hell" into the search. Well worth a watch =)

  • i wan't to marry David Mitchell

  • Unfortunately, given your inability to use an apostrophe properly, you're probably not his type.

  • Comment removed

  • LOL owned.

  • what did beter4niu say?

    why was it removed?

  • Eh...don't remember, sorry.

  • ''...f**k off with you're ghost ideas.'' XD

It just goes to show you can't be too careful.

    David is legendary.

  • It just goes to show you can't be too careful!

  • Just goes to show that you CAN be too careful?

  • 'how long on your ceasar salads....?'

lol - religion really has no point and even the show's producer knows it. hahahahahahaha

  • It just goes to show, you can't be too careful!

  • It just goes to show, you can't be too careful!

  • lol@ 'crucifix-shaped sword'

    David Mitchell is awesome.

  • It just goes to show, you can't be too careful!

  • It just goes to show you can't be too careful.

  • Love this clip, think of it often.

Mainly because I spotted something lately that a person I know wrote. They wrote, 'why should I read books, this is the 20th Century'.

Needless to say I laughed for a while.

  • It just goes to show you can't be too careful.

  • "That's a spectacularly banal point" haha

  • 5.39 how ridiculous LOL

  • Is David Mitchell is the secret love-child of Christopher Hitchens?

  • i admire the way david mitchell is able to convey his thoughts so articulately and with such humor. Legend.

  • I like David Mitchell because hes not afraid to show he is pissed about something and at least he gives reassons about hes opinion.

  • Lmfao 15th century graffiti... 1671. rofl wtf

  • It's one thing that the presenter got it wrong, but what's more odd is that neither the director, none of the crew, nor anyone editing it or whatever, noticed it either!

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!! david mitchell is great! so funny :D

  • Good to see more people bashing religion.

  • I was enjoying this until 5 minutes in...and then I REALLY enjoyed it. :P

  • extras....=P

  • lol@ the religion debate. stfu and just enjoy the humour. :| fail

  • I cant believe people in this day and age people still choose to be religious; In an age of science and technological advancement.

I always thought religious folk accepted the concept of there being an almighty as untrue and however accepted it is a faith in which one can mould their existance by.

Religious education lectures should maybe be a part 'role play' activity too, the children could imagine they are medieval peasants attending the local convent :-)

    !

  • Do you believe in fairies as well Restayvien? There is no more proof in god than there is in fairies. You gullible fool.

  • lol funny as hell

  • Lmfao @ the end clip

  • Absolutely hilarious.

  • 'fuck off with your ghost ideas!'

lmao. i think i love david mitchell

  • Me too!

  • Fucking hell. Laugh at the god damned joke. David Mitchell is a genius and tbh if you guys can't stop wittering on about your petty religious differences then you are so pathetic that I could actually cry.

Go and watch Peep Show. That man is a legend. End of. x

  • I agree! Why does any comical clip on youtube have retards bickering about the subplot?!

  • 100 percent agreed. im especially surprised at how many seemingly funny, silly sketch shows have long rambling comments about the second world war or existentialism or something totally unrelated. haha. go david mitchell!

  • Yes I 'dare' to call it unoriginal. It's getting boring. It may be current, but it's ALWAYS current, which is why it's unoriginal. It's a last refuge - if you run out of jokes (and you're an atheist) just fall back on 'religion suxxorz11!"!

Most of the human race is ludicrous to the extreme, not only religion.

"Religion seems to be exempt from insult"

BS. It's insulted all the time all over the media as it's dominated by people who don't understand it and are too ignorant to even try.

  • You have to admit it though Restayvien. Religion is so unbelievably insane that it's just the natural target for ridicule.

  • People laugh at what they do not understand. That makes you ignorant.

  • I understand it ... very well actually, and I still find it amazingly stupid, not to mention vile and petty. I invite you to make me see it in another light. Perhaps I don;t see your understanding of religion. Which God do you follow?

  • Jesus tells us to love and help one another. To put faith in God and to have hope. How is that vile?

I am a Christian, so I follow 'god', or Yahweh as pagans I know refer to him as.

  • No, you worship something you have never/will never see, hear, touch, smell or have any evidence for - and you call me ignorant. Only your ilk cannot see how gobsmackingly stupid you really are.

  • I haven't seen many things that I believe exist, same goes for you. And I do have evidence, just not proof. But I don't need it. We accept many things on faith, I accept god on faith and logic.

You know very little about me and you think you know my 'ilk'. You're just lashing out at something you demonstrably do not understand and are making yourself look foolish in the process.

  • Not at all.

I believe in everything that I can see evidence for (the difference between me and you). I don't wish you personal ill will, but I (and many of my 'ilk') want your primitive ideas vanquiahed so that we can get on with the serious issues that science can help human kind with.

Your views, and I hope you come around soon, are retarded. That is not an insult, purely fact.

  • Setting aside the fact that theologians have gotten nowhere in the past few thousand years concerning extrasensory experience, what do you rely on other than your sensory experience?

  • "The theory of God goes beyond 'how does light travel'...."

How convenient for you. Sounds more like 'Don't understand so won't even bother trying... magic man done it, that'll do'.

You don't even know what evidence is.

Also, I wouldn't care about your views if it didn't actually affect the sane amongst us. We have to constantly deal with the fallout from your retardedness on a daily basis.

Please don't bother pitying me. I am only after the truth. You are living a pitiful, childish lie.

  • What's wrong with you? I didn't say I didn't trust or understand science. I work with light, I know what lambda is and how to kohler a microscope. I also know that discovering what created the Universe is more important.

"We have to constantly deal with the fallout from your retardedness on a daily basis."

    Likewise. Fun isn't it.

You may be looking for the truth, but hoping you can find it without considering anything other than observable and repeatable experiments will not get you far.

  • 'hoping you can find it without considering anything other than observable and repeatable experiments will not get you far'

What will? guesswork? I work with Quantum mechanics, that doesn't make me Niels bohr.

You set yourself up when you said "I see evidence for God all around me".

You can't explain what you see so you give credit to God. That's NOT evidence so don't throw in the odd greek letter and disguise it as science.

I don't mean to offend. Merely debunk the unscientific.

  • I don't use a 'God of the gaps' at all. I don't use him to explain things I don't understand. To overuse the example of light, I know how it works and what it is - but I believe it is God that created the physics that govern it.

And you seem to be under the mistaken impression that all evidence is empirical (scientific). Evidence in court does not have to be scientific for example.

  • evidence in court is not supported by the supernaturual - but by physical events

  • What is religion but trying to understand the world around you. What is Science but he same thing in a different perspective. You have your beliefs, i have mine, just accept it and stop whining .

  • Fuck off

  • Win.

  • yeah i understand where your coming from. but if your trying to understand the world around you then why not use facts and evidence?, rather than a book of unrealistic stories

  • and the bible will? lmao

  • While I am not religious, I must argue that "your views are retarded" is not a fact, it's your opinion.

One of the great things about intelligent thought is the right we have to differ in belief and opinion. If someone wants to believe in an invisible man in the sky, that hardly is any of your concern. As long as people keep their beliefs to themselves and don't try and force them on others it really isn't a problem.

You are just another brand of extremist, no better than bible thumpers.

  • the problem comes when they dont

  • Agreed on that front xhalmers860. And it's a dirty shame lol.

  • I think you'll find that intellect and religious belief are two things that almost never go together

  • Wait, wait, wait. Religion (AKA-belief systems that the majority of the world believe in) is ever-present as a topic for many reasons (Terrorism being the main unfortunate one), so you dare call it unoriginal to poke fun at it? Most comedians joke about current issues, hence the term 'topical comedy'. It's easy to joke about religion in particular as it's (And I apologise) often ludicrous to the extreme. Religion seems to be exempt from insult, so can't we even joke about it any more?

  • David shows how great he is as an intelectuel here. He's right that the heaven and earth show is utter crap. I agree 100% with David's views on religion: he is more right than you can possibly be. They should give him his own tv show where he shares his opinions in those great rants of his. They could call it "David Mitchell tells it like it is" or something. Anyone know a better title.

  • "What you really want is an extremely angry muslim cleric"

    ROFLMAO

  • hahahahahahahahahahaha!

  • I bet there's going to be a GIF form of that last bit of the priest out there in no time.

  • amazing,

    literally I lol'ed

  • You are a premium-traveller prick, and I have decided that only for your comments about Thom Yorke.

  • How ridiculous! Very clever!

  • someone please put the whole episode up!

  • Best bit is at 5:33 XD I laughed so much it's unreal.

  • melinda messenger "everything I know has come from books" haha - yes, that famous book How to get Your Tits out for FHM

  • everything i know also came from books. but, the only book i ever read was "Syrett76 Blows Dicks and Eats a Doody" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. And also, syrett76 is gay.

  • Oh dear. Punkyburger has gone to the trouble of looking at my profile, looked at all my favourites, gone through them to see which ones I have made a comment at, and made a comment at all those videos. Three words for you "Mr bored out of my head" - a. girlfriend. get. - rearrange those letters into a popular saying. Also, your obsession with the word "gay" leads me to the conclusion that you're 100% repressed fag. Go on a road trip and discover your redneck self. thanks

  • Lol ,:) I have`nt read the comment your replying to ,but your retort is 1st class

  • That last clip is b e a utful!

  • This show is blatantly an answer to room 101. Seriously tv execs are pathetic. Dave Mitchell's funny though.

  • yeh defo. TV execs think they're genius aswell. anyone could do their job

  • Lmao crazy Vicar.

Yeh I totally agree, non-denominational religious Tv just doesn't work, because it'll never get passed the surface of any real questions on religion, spirituality or morality. It'll just be dumbass 'I'm a bit spiritual' (as if it's some sort of affliction) celebrity or presenter fucking off to retreat and getting paid for the privilege.

  • Comment removed

  • two brilliant comedians!

  • lol religion

  • bit at the end is insane lol

  • "He can't read numbers!"

    ROFLMAO.

  • he is a genius and I would like to fuck him. That's all for now.

  • I had the same reaction when that idiot said '15th century graffitti' - wtf? And they still broadcast it?

David Mitchell just cracks me up!

  • Yes-- it's even more hilarious that this wasn't just ONE guy's mistake. What's worse, that he says it's 15th-century graffiti or that NObody on The Heaven and Earth Show (which presumably has a big budget and sizeable staff) corrected it? What's worse, a semiliterate who's paid far too much to fake piety and inspiration, or the two dozen or so OTHER people on staff who clearly can't read numbers, or maybe just aren't watching the show they're producing? I suppose I wouldn't blame them...

  • 'i believe in ghosts...'

'oh right, does that help you?'

  • a bit of meee time - so funny

  • Could someone please upload the whole episode??

  • it's pathetic how people go through life treating religions/ideolagies like bus stops -ooh - i'll have a go at that one...oh look at that one! you know, the madonna's of this world - get a grip people - deluded nonces!

  • True, but better treating them like fads and then giving them up, rather than actually believing it.

    Mitchell's right.

  • In fairness, some people - myself included - kind of "go through" religions, because they're trying to find the right one for them, one that suits their lifestyle and their ideals.

But you are right; there are certain people that treat religion like fashion, and that's plain wrong.

    .x.Sess.x.

  • i take your point, but i grew up with a religious affiliation myself, so i know that your personal philosophy is what always serves you and your life best, whilst philosophies external to yourself are detrimental to your own nature, and thus your life.

  • There's a difference between choosing a set of ideals and philosophical beliefs and choosing a religion, which also involves a set of concrete claims about the universe. Either the universe was created as it says in Genesis or it wasn't - and that fact won't change depending on an individual's "lifestyle".

  • Well, alright, maybe 'ideals' wasn't quite the right word I was looking for. I tend to write these things in a hurry and I don't bother checking over for better ways of phrasing my words.

My ultimate point was that there are some people who dapple in different religions to find the right one for them, which I think is fine, and some who go through religions for the sake of it, which I think is wrong.

    .x.Sess.x.

  • 'that's a spectacularly banal point' - wicked

  • love this! but one good thing that did come from the heaven and earth show was a kd lang performance of hallelulia - which then lead me onto discovering the magic of jeff buckley!

tangent i know - thought i'd say something irrelevant.

  • david mitchell is a legend....

he has the same views as me lol about religion

  • more david mitchell he's awsome

  • LOL!!! He's right, IMO, that religion, belief in ghosts and superstition is absolute unequivical BOLLOCKS.

  • this was funny...

  • David Mithell and Sean Lock. Need I say more. 5/5

  • omfg that last part had me in so much laughter

  • figlio di puttana

  • I love David Mitchell. I love Peep Show. I wish his character was a real person I could meet and marry. We'd be very happy. I like being humourously repressed. Young and wild was so stupid.

  • is there more to this episode

  • I love David Mitchell! I'm only 17 but I would so marry him!! Hahaha x

  • Did my ears decieve me or is the chef called Ian Braidy? Isn't he a notorious murderer? Fast forward to 1:20 to see what i mean.

  • peepshow <<<<< best thing on tv easy
