Dingon ja Kirkan sekoitusko tätä laulaa? Ihan kiva swengi ja show, mutta vokalistin ääni lähinnä ärsyttää. Liekö syy sitten korkeaksi sävelletyssä biisissä vai äänenkäyttötavassa...
I don't really understand all the bashing around this song, it's not your average pop-composition but it's not bad either. Cheerful and wild songs like this in ESC are rarities these days. Btw. check out composer (and keyboard guy) Jim Pembroke's band Wigwam, i recommend searching song "simple human kindness" from youtube.
Don't forget that in 1982 was the Cold War and message is against nuclear bombs (that USSR and USA had and could be a war and was the end of the WORLD.
So, this is the notorious performance where the singer hit himself in the head in an effort to gather votes - and this in a song that spoke of nuclear holocaust! Of course, this gimmick worked pretty well, since the song managed to gather an impressive sum of... 0 points :-). Not that it deserved any better than that, IMO, although I imagine that, in the televoting era, it would probably have achieved a higher scoring.
If nothing else, it's one of the weirdest songs I've heard in this contest. I really don't know what to think about it; can you call this a melody? And was this meant to be serious or not? The only word I can find to describe it is: strange.
Yes, it seems that the Finnish juries from early 80s had a pretty wicked taste in their selections. Just listening to their entries from 1980 and '81 - and this one of course - proves so (and, despite acieving a top-10 placing, their 1984 one also belongs to this category, IMO).
Yes, "Reggae OK" was definitely surreal, though its packaging moreso (I can't believe Riki Sorsa actually wore that outfit on stage!). But you could hear the audience loved that and it was definitely a melody. It was rather humorous, though, especially the accordion instrumental break. Nothing about it other than the name and beat was reggae. This... well, a message it is.
I do not think it deserved 0 points cause IMO there where worse songs than this in 1982, the Dutch silly horror could have gotten that one instead. I agree that this song has awful melody but it has a message and it's craziness fits the message of the song cause neutron bombs are crazy. And at least Finland once again showed that they are not afraid to be experimental and creative and with there entries. And I have to say that I am weak for guitar solos and it exist in this song:P
What happened to his voice? Did he eat a can of nails prior to the performance?

This song is a peace-song too, but its not as clever performde as "Ein bißchen Frieden".
Finlands Revenge was in 2006 when Lordi "smashed" Texas Lightning.

it certainly is refreshing - compared to the old school eurovision & pseudo quality songs in most ESCs - WELL DONE!
