i have the same flat iron in purple but i do it different i do it tht way for the ends of my hair but for the other part . i clip it 3 in from my scalp and the wrap my hair around it twice and do i Full rotation by curling it upwards the i go straight down. the i do it the way u do for the end of my hair. ill make a video responce.
