According to an interview, when this album came out, no one had heard bass solos like this, and everyone thought that it was Pete playing these solos, so when they played it live, everyone looked at Pete first, then was surprised by John! I would guess that the eye rolling is because according to John, every time he would change a note, the audience looked at him like he screwed it up, so he had to play the same thing every time so people wouldn't freak out. This guy is my hero! Haha
