@uwique Comparing Skid row and A7X is like comparing Sugar to Piss.

Skid Row's music focused on broaching a wide variety of tones and themes to their Music (Slave to the Grind vs. Quicksand Jesus, etc), whereas A7X tends to stick to one specific set of themes. The music is different because of this. Both groups have had amazing Guitarists, but they're from different Generations, INTENDED for different generations. Calm down the both of you.

Try listening to power metal like Dragonforce, powerquest, sonata artica etc. Or other metal genres, symphony x, even some of A7x isn't really screamy, elvenking. There are alot of non-depressing metal artists still out there. Maiden are still going also.

Both the original and the Halestorm versions are good. Skid Row had the original, so of course its legendary. But the Halestorm is good as well; it takes a different spin on it. And that's the point of cover, you're supposed to make it your own. :)

80's music may have a bad rap at times, but I will say one thing that is lacking from today's generation of metal heads. They don't crank their stereos as loud as those hip-hop bass thumper white wannabees. At least in the 80's we were white metal head proud and cranked our music just as loud.
