Egyptians might be the best, but Lebanese and Moroccans are not half-bad compared to some of the Euro-pretenders who are doing their thing with a punch of props like BD is based on props like wings, swords sticks and not actually knowing how to gyrate those hips to the rhythm. I was told that some of the Russians/ East Euros dancing in Sharm& Cairo take short training courses and start dancing in clubs to make money. Others use belly dancing as cover for their prostitution business.
There are a lot of arab dancers who are prostitutes too it´s not just with the westerns. It´s controversial for a women to professional bellydance in a muslim country, that´s also why only a few arabs choose this path and why it´s easier to hire a western girl. If you research you´ll find out the best coreographers and dancers were/are egyptian. Dancing in UAE, gulf or magreg means you´ll hhave to dance in a more lebanese style, personally i don´t like it. :)
