ah, the days before studios sued each other over their ideas. If this cartoon had been done a few decades later. They'd been sued for "coping" Superman. Just because Herc could fly (or jump far). In the original fables, I'm sure Hercules just ran down the slopes of Mt. Olympus. Trans-Lux was obviously thinking of Superman when they did it this way.
In fact, according to TV Party, the two main writers for Hercules had just left DC comics. Any similarities to Superman are deliberate. (And, decades later, Bruce Timm would base Superman's new look for the 1990s on this version of Hercules, so it came full circle)
