  • Whats the soundtrack that plays in this scene?!! Im been trying to find it for ages =(

  • Wow, that was so fantastic. The most amazing scene in the entire film is this one... the whole thing is so beautiful.

  • Did anybody else watch the full Collector's Edition & deleted scenes, and feel somewhat... cheated?

Don't get me wrong - I like the movie, love Pandora. But this kind of stuff begs the question: why is it NOT in the final?! James Cameron had a dozen chances to create a great storyline, and he skipped them all.

I don't care what it'd do to the length - Return of the King ran for THREE friggin' hours, IT rocked. They should've done the same... maybe then Avatar wouldn't have lost the Oscar.

  • @HowlingWolf518 especially the scenes that the navi attacked the human. so the human got a raeson to bow of the hometree.

  • @HowlingWolf518

Avatar didn't lose the Oscar due to its supposed "flaws" in storytelling. It lost for political reasons. The Academy wanted to give it to a woman. And they normal hate sci-fi films anyway. But, Avatar was almost a sure thing upon its reason.

At the premiere, Danny DeVito actually said, "Give him the Oscar now."

  • @HowlingWolf518

Btw, as great as the deleted scenes were, Cameron was going for specific emotional reactions from his audiences with that theatrical cut. And, as far as I'm concerned, Cameron succeeded gloriously.

But, all of the cut scenes prove how great the acting and storytelling is in Avatar.

  • yeah.

  • Sa'nok :'(

  • where the fuck is this amazing scene ?!!!

  • I'm sorry I think James Cameron has pulled up the curtain and joined the choir invisible (to quote Monty python) where is the guy who gave us Terminator 1 and 2 have we really dumbed down this much that we think this is a good movie as someone said watch Ferngully and as I say watch Dances With Wolves. No wonder the education of our collective nations UK and USA is going down the toilet and as far as remake city (Hollywood) is concerned try watching the original (foreign) movies with subs!

  • please upload the entire special features :D

  • There's another scene involving the group discussing Jake's betrayal and what it means to the situation. It's a scene that I thought would have been great in the film, however, I understand why it was left out--it references an event that was left out of the film because the scenes were both unfinished and unnecessary.

  • @HowlingWolf518

There is actually very good reason why the Earth scenes weren't in the original. It's not that they were bad or badly done. It's an artistic decision, pure and simple.

I do wish these very touching scenes about Swanna (sp?) were in the final cut, but knowing Cameron, I'm sure there was very good reason.

  • @HowlingWolf518 I'm sure eye-strain with the 3D was a concern of the production team during the processing.

They were pushing it with the length the film was given. It should have been shorter and had the majority of character scenes left in. It would have made it much tighter and therefore stronger.

  • omfg this is a really good scence and they fuckin took it out omfg!!!!!!!. its very touching i was crying. I was really crying-__-.

  • @khonly puss cake lol

  • This is a very touching and awesome scene. I'm so glad we can now appreciate in the awesome Avatar Collector's Set.

  • @shakeyjakey3 lol nice one

  • @Damon242 alright, gay...

  • lovely!

  • Weaver must get really angry with Cameron. In both Aliens and Avatar, for the theatrical run he cuts out the scenes involving the most character development and her best acting.

Her subplot in the Avatar film should have stayed in.

Cameron unfortunately sacrificed character development for plot, rather than balance it. It's unfortunate, because he is a lot better at it than this shows. He can make a balanced, and well-respected film

  • @Damon242

Why should she be pissed at Cameron? You're watching this scene now. You can watch her added scenes any time with these collector's editions for both Aliens and Avatar. You get to see her great acting, over and over again.

But, you're right. She probably was pissed at Cameron for a long time because he HAD TO cut her scenes in Aliens involving Ripley's lost daughter. Now, things are different. I think she's matured. Now, she's barking at the Academy for not awarding Avatar. lol

  • @LukeLovesRose It would be frustrating for any actor if the scenes vital to your character, and showcasing your performance, are cut.

It's always possible that a deleted scene contains oscar-material, but because it was cut out of the theater edition it was never seen in time. That applies for anything. And while perhaps not oscar-worthy, her deleted scenes enhanced her performance and actually developed her character

I would say the same of Norm's scenes but the execution of them was sloppy

  • @LukeLovesRose The core difference between Avatar and Aliens though is that the latter is strong film even without the deleted scenes. The same can't be said of Avatar, unfortunately; it's a solid film, but not necessarily a strong one.

I doubt that she's pissed at him, but I can imagine that upon watching the premiere of the film she was a little frustrated that her character's subplot was sacrificed for running-time (again). Especially given that the film was still too long.

  • @Damon242

Whatever. That's your opinion. From what I hear, Sigourney is quite proud of Avatar and she deserves to be.

This film is strong. It's just such an unusual experience, it feels weak. But, like most of James Cameron's previous, he didn't miss a beat.

  • @LukeLovesRose Not just my opinion, but that of many others. Technically, also.

While perhaps she is, you also only hear what the media will tell you and what Weaver was encouraged to say about the film during its time. All actors proclaim their films to be great, only to occasionally admit their dislike of their own work (ben affleck with daredevil, labeouf with transformers and indiana jones, etc). Only time will truly tell, and whether or not what is said is legitimately reported.

  • @LukeLovesRose "It's such an unusual experience, it feels weak".

...what exactly does that mean? It almost sounds like its masking its own flaws.

It's not a strong film, but a solid one as I mentioned. James Cameron wrote his script before Pocahontas, the film that if had not existed would have made Avatar's story predominately original. However, it came out beforehand and rather than change his script some degrees Cameron kept it the same.

  • @LukeLovesRose The scenes that serve the characters and produce some originality Cameron decided to leave out of the film. The script itself is much stronger than any of the film releases.

It's a shame. He could have spared the film a lot of its criticism if he figured out a better way to cut it. Unfortunately, for the sake of the spectacle, he left a lot of unnecessary scenes in the theatrical cut.

In the end, Avatar is not one of his finest films. Executed beautifully; but only a spectacle.

  • @Damon242

I don't know what movie you saw, but I knew exactly what was going on and why during the entire theatrical experience. I feel like I know Jake Sully, inside and out, without these great, unnecessary scenes. So, I can't ask Cameron for more. 2.7 billion dollars worth of audiences felt the same way.

  • @LukeLovesRose This scene isn't for Jake, it's for Grace. It also helps to explore the history between the Navi and Humanity. And finally it's a well-executed scene.

'2.7 billion dollars worth of audiences felt the same way'. That doesn't make any sense considering that they paid to see the theatrical edition without option, added with the reasons why the film was able to amass such a large sum of money.

There are a lot of unnecessary scenes in the theatrical version of Avatar.

  • @Damon242

I love this scene. Don't get me wrong. It does bring a lot more depth to Sigourney's character. But, it kind of throws off the outstanding pace of the theatrical cut. That's why I still can't believe Avatar didn't win the award for Best Editing last year.

  • @LukeLovesRose It would have been nice for Cameron to have left this in as it's good character development and the background story explained in these scenes is interesting, and original; which is something that Avatar, while beautifully executed, was lacking.

  • @Damon242 As I was watching the film at the theatre (twice) I never felt like something was missing. But when I saw this, I felt like there was still a lot to know, and it made a lot more sense.

But honestly: Does ANYONE notice what an amazingly emotional scene this is? You can literally hear her tears being held back. And this is the point where Jake and Grace really become close friends - a turning point in Jakes view of the whole situation that is much clearer in the full version.

  • @Damon242 i know...geez is 30 seconds of extra film here REALLY gonna slow anything down?

  • @Damon242 Well, if you've seen either the re-release last summer or the collector's edition of the BluRay, that scene is in.

  • @Damon242 I agree, and Weaver expresses a scientist's point of view exceedingly well. No matter how hard to you try to remain objective...you would not be studying something if you did not have a personal interest therein. That is why peer reviews are so difficult...to have your work that you have slavishly dedicated your life to be dissected by other scientists may seem cruel, but it is the only way science can remain objective - no matter how much it hurts.

  • Man! I haven't bought the extended version yet, but until I do... I'd love to see the whole scene here. Sigourney Weaver is such an amazing actress. I love her. I want to see how she delivers her entire line in that scene.

  • It's only a film people get a grip :)

  • Avatar is over rated the hurt locker is definately better

  • Love love love that movie,, 5 stars np doubt

  • @Lucifer986 yeah, ur username can tell a hole lot about ur demonic personality.

  • I didn't want to see this film when it came out, all the hype over 3D and special effects, didn't think it would be worth it. but I saw it on DVD today, on a ten year old TV, and wow was it good! I can see it being over rated to some, but I did not expect much- but got a hell of a lot out of it.

  • @phillapphullper

10 year old TV fucking hell man get some cash together you bum and get a new one. Your pathetic.

  • good movie. predictable plot but still good.

  • does anybody know a website where i can watch the whole film i love it so much!

  • @TennisCoachno1 you download it for free of various websites. some good examples to google are (pspiso) or (warez-bb)

  • Why do people wanna watch a remake of the vietnam war with the same ending

  • @Norris1st lol

  • I worked with them for years at the school, they called me Fanuc. I was a robot manufacturer to them from Japan

  • @jacksite2007

    ...wtf?!

  • @serpentphoenix I questioned myself on why I actually wrote that. Laughed when I heard her version of my sentence in the video xD (google FANUC if you haven't heard of it) ;)

  • This scene should have been left in the actual movie. We didn't really know what her motives were for helping them other than because she was a hippy.

  • Dancing with the blue smurffs aka "Avatar" is the most overated movie in the history of mankind.

  • @killnewb Thanks for your comment

  • yah, avatar, plotwise, was a load of crap, but it's quality and presentation were....wow...

  • i cant wait for the second and third, james cameron said it might be 2013 the second one and 2014 the third one, and it will focus on the seas of pandora

  • There was nothing original in Avatar. A treat for the eyes but boring when I watched it the second time. It was the 3D that made it novelty.

  • IMHO

Its "Dances with wolves" in outer space.

I was very much underwhelmed with this movie and this from the guy who gave us terminator and T2.

And 3D it would have been better in 4D (Time and Space) and not making it

    lol

    Regards to all

  • @abbdoc look up ferngully.... its THAT in outer space

guy working for logging company is turned to a fairy (sorta) and sees the world through their eyes, falls for girl fairy as she teaches him bout her world.. fights to stop destruction of the forest.

But then this concept is in lots of stories. Holywood doesnt do orignality... good film though

  • Carried by special effects. Poor movie.

  • I bought this collectors edition and I highly recommend getting it!!!

  • She's such a poor actress... yet somehow lucky to play in such great movies like Aliens...

  • @tarsus4x4 I think shes a really good actress actually, and the only decent one in aliens for that matter.

  • @Ned406 Oh you're so wrong. But I wont put you out of your happy point of view, by saying, that actors like Michael Biehn, Lance Henriksen, or even Cameron's favorite Bill Paxton are presenting classic, five star S-F acting with no flaw whatsoever... in comparison to that Weaver lass... She's fake unfortunately. I every movie she plays, she looks like cought in some home video cam.

  • @tarsus4x4 My point of view is not "Happy" My point of view is my point of view and cancells emotion regardless to the fact that I think she is a good actress, but nethertheless you might hate her but for the rest of your life youl have to live with the fact that you will never be as succesfull as her or make as much money, or perhaps even be loved as much as her :)

  • its the women from alien :D

  • gaaaaaay

  • i liked the extended start

  • I thought the collector's extended cut was a mixed bag personally. Maybe its coz I've seen the original cut so many times that the added scenes just stood out a lot more and felt tacked on, causing the pace to suffer. But I must say that there was definately a better emotional componant in the extended cut, particularly in this scene and then later on near the end. Grace's backstory informs the conflicts in the movie really nicely. But it's a shame some of the best material remained deleted.

  • im lovin' it!!!!!!

  • I agree...why???? It is short, but I think important. But it happens in movies all the time! toooo bad for us!

  • it should be in it :/ i loved grace role. i wish we could see more of her past in pandora

  • I love Grace. So much.

  • This gives so much more perspective to Grace's character. I can't believe they cut it from the original release of the film :c

  • Yes, in the original script Cameron wrote sa'atenuk for mother; later shortened by Frommer to sa'nok, so we must accept both forms as valid variants of the word mother.

  • I can´t see this.. just want to see it when I get the collector´s edition :D is quite more special

  • As much as I love this movie, there were missing puzzle pieces that didn't allow it to get acting noms, or win for Best Picture or Best Director at the Oscars. Cameron taking scenes like this out that only last 30 seconds just for pacing was a mistake. It would have done good for the characters, plot and actors had some of those deleted scenes been put in the film. From what I hear, some of the deleted scenes between human characters are awesome. Heavy moments like this are what was missing.

  • Grace seems to say "sra'nok" for "mother" instead of "sa'nok" which we hear many times in the film.

  • @AungiaTaEywa it's Sa'atenuk !!

  • Btw, does anyone see the way Grace puts her hand on Jake in the end? It's kind of familiar isn't it? ;-)

  • This is definitely a great, dramatic scene. But, I think it might have interrupted the stellar flow of the theatrical cut. And the pace of the theatrical cut is just awesome.

These deleted scenes don't change our love of anything, they just enhance our love for certain characters.

  • too bad the movie can only be so long.. I had to watch it a couple times to understand it.

  • @TheOnlyVictoria I don't mean to be rude, but are you saying you thought Avatar was complicated? It's basically just Pocahontas seen from the guy's point of view instead of the native girl's. Again, no offense, I just think Avatar has a very simple plot. Enjoyable movie, but simple.

  • @hectorab10 This melody is in the song ''The Bioluminescence Of The Night''.

  • Now that I see this scene it makes me respect Grace even more. It shows Jake and grace have a great friendship. And great acting from sigourney. This scene adds a lot of character build-up and emotion.

  • I like this song.

  • wow, so heavy

  • oh i like this line. "Scientist must stay objective". Agreed. just like every science experiment

  • AWW Grace.....

  • This is truly the greatest movie ever made! James Cameron is one of the best directors of our time.

  • @matrix0071 I agree with you 100%.

  • The best thing about this movie is that you can truly connnect. Even though I have obviously never been in Grace's shoes I can still connect with her. Long live Grace!

  • @rachelh646 ahaha cute

  • ahhh....... Grace :/

  • Pre-ordered! :D

  • Why did this get deleted from the final cut? :-/

  • @NavajoJoeFilms I ask myself the same thing about most of the deleted scenes.

  • @NavajoJoeFilms I agree, this is such an epic scene!

  • @NavajoJoeFilms - It's all "re-released" so they can rip us off, and make more money.

I was and still am a massive AVATAR fan. Although I'm not willing to re-buy a Blu-Ray film just to get the extended cut.

  • @AmH032uTuBe download it then, youve already paid once so fuck them

  • @bricksalegend - I'm not for pirating...

But I do respect your point. You're exactly right. Apparently they're also re-releasing it as extended in the cinemas, I've also paid to see it once cut.

You're absolutely correct - fuck them. But it's still not going to make me pirate it, the extra scenes probably aren't even anything special, so I'll probably just stick with my normal - cut edition. I bet the people who originally pre-ordered the normal cut limited edition will be pissed off.

  • @NavajoJoeFilms makes more money to release the same movie twice

  • @NavajoJoeFilms Simple, add to the 'directors cut' and make more money!

  • @NavajoJoeFilms so they could release a directors cut and make u buy it twice and go to the cinemas again

    cynical... me?

  • @NavajoJoeFilms to make cash from the dvd and blu ray sales =s that is how film work now, about the cash above all other things

  • I've always wanted to know what exactly happened to the school. I didn't think the school was around for so long. And poor Grace.... sanuk... I can't imagine the pain she's going through, that she described.

  • Awwww that was so moving :3

  • I. Love. This. Movie.

  • aws...grace <3
