Interesting and sad case; but this video has several flaws. Firstly, what happened to the sound? Why am I hearing the right channel only? And why is it so distorted? Secondly, fails to explain why doctors would diagnose severe leg pain as being tonsillitis (wtf???) or why a child who's legs are rotting off would be "bounced between hospitals" (wtf???). (Seems to me that *dozens* of people need to have their legs amputated as punishment in this case.) Thirdly, needs a better Description.

Meningococcal disease is difficult to diagnose early on. There's high rates of it in my country (NZ) but even with familiarity it escapes detection too often here. I wonder of Russia has low rates so is unfamilliar? Russia isn't on the list of deaths due to meningoccal disease at the nationmaster website. I don't believe that. Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are all on the list, but not Russia? Methinks Russia has a dirty little secret their keeping about meningococcal disease.

@27pocket failure to see necrosis on the legs is something anyone can see, the staff just didnt seem to care, I have witnessed this sort of practice here in the UK, the staff preferred to chat over coffee whilst neglecting sick people. dismissing some people with necrosis for 'blood blisters' pffft.

this video was so sad for me as a new mother. to see an innocent child suffer, reach and cry for his mother, helpless from a hospital bed is heart wrenching to me. Then I see a string of comments between people arguing. I wish so much that everyone else felt with the same sensitivity as me, especially when it comes to children. This child deserves to be honored by all the comments posted on a video about him.

I don't see any fault on the doctors' part for the first child. Based on the symptoms, the doctors had to make that critical decision. The child probably DID have necroitis. The botched injection one though, was just plain out unprofessional.
My heart goes out to the family. I have a 3 year old son and I would be dam pissed off if those doctors made a medical mistake on my son. They should reeducate the doctors like they do to EMT's certification. EMT's have to recertify every 3 years to make up for new protocols and procedures. They should do that with the doctors let them recertify them every 5 to 7 years.

An RNFA has a MSN (Master's in Nursing) and they do a lot more than what you consider "holding a few instruments". Where's your experience closing a trauma wound? Docs don't do that!

Interesting and sad case; but this video has several flaws. Firstly, what happened to the sound? Why am I hearing the right channel only? And why is it so distorted? Secondly, fails to explain why doctors would diagnose severe leg pain as being tonsillitis (wtf???) or why a child who's legs are rotting off would be "bounced between hospitals" (wtf???). Meningococcal disease is difficult to diagnose early on. There's high rates of it in my country (NZ) but even with familiarity it escapes detection too often here. I wonder of Russia has low rates so is unfamilliar? Russia isn't on the list of deaths due to meningoccal disease at the nationmaster website. I don't believe that. They should reeducate the doctors like they do to EMT's certification. EMT's have to recertify every 3 years to make up for new protocols and procedures. @GabeForSale2K RNFA's don't "run pre-ops". Do you know what "running a pre-op" means? I don't! I've never heard such ridiculous terminology in my entire career, and I am in the middle EVERY DAY! Running pre-op's? Hysterical, son. That doesn't even deserve a response because there is NO SUCH THING. Go to college then comment to people who you can keep up with when it comes to intelligence. @GabeForSale2K I am a CRNA, and I dare you to criticize my career! You being 17 yrs old should not be arguing with college educated people. You're not even out of hs yet, so until you can COMPETENTLY and SUCCESSFULLY discuss this with knowledge and experience under your belt you should really watch what you say. An RNFA has a MSN (Master's in Nursing) and they do a lot more than what you consider "holding a few instruments". Where's your experience closing a trauma wound? Docs don't do that!

@Gabe Here's some advice- big mouth know it all's like you don't survive medical school because your behavior will not be tolerated. Looking down upon others in your field will not be tolerated. Popping off at the lip like this will gain you nothing but enemies among your medical student EQUALS. I would suggest you clean up your mouth and listen instead of speak when you enter medical school. It's no fun to work in a field where you are not respected by your work mates. Life can be very hard....

If this kid does that and he hasn't even graduated high school yet, still chanting out SAT scores like we give a fuck, as if it's impressive or something (NOT, we all been there!) he's in for a very unsuccessful career. That attitude he has is only a smoking bomb. Anyone who talks about those who are far far ahead of him (not even accepted to a decent college yet, only a SAT score, yippe) usually end up with a reason to be jealous because they can't make it through the first cut! We have really laughed at him here in our hospital.The surgeons have even had a cut in on it He don't realize that we all are very close because of how we work.We,including everyone in the OR, have really enjoyed his "SAT scores" and his "aspirations of obtaining a Bachelor's in Bio"! (which we all have, duh) and how he just knows so much! RUNNING post ops, bwah, WTF is that? Did I miss something when I was in school, college that is"! l guess he knows more than me!

@fishin1111 Hi. I'm a CRNA and I work with RNFA's daily, as you know. I have much respect for RNFA's. They do more, in some cases, than the surgeons do. This little kid has no clue what happens in an OR. He doesn't realize that the surgeon doesn't even run a call for a code, the RNFA STARTS THE CODE AND WE FINISH IT BY SECURING AN AIRWAY, IF NOT ALREADY SECURED! This baby has a lot to learn. @MrZimzam11 I am a surgical PA also who currently practices in Atlanta. This young man is way out of line. Most OR's have u-tube on for their pleasure b/c it's the only non-medically related website allowed inside dept.'s via FACO's and JCAHO. To see these comments really alarms me. I am concerned over our future medical community with big mouth young un's like Gabe. It appears, with that attitude that our medical society in the future is doomed. I hope his father doesn't behave like that!
