Bang and Olufsen loudspeakers do not use Philips parts. It is only the television sets that utilise Philips components, and even these are made especially for B&O to a very high standard. I will say, however, that there are better AV manufacturers available such as Linn, Bowers and Wilkins, Naim etc.
@falkenlaser I was thinking the same, I guess if you want pretty good sound quality, have money to burn and don't want to go the aftermarket route this is sufficient. I heard the Bose in an A4 in person and it sounded decent at normal levels, but had noticeable distortion when turned up high.
the special thing of this soundsystem is, that every sound is related to the interior materials! that means if your audi has an alcantara interior, the sound has to be set specially for alcantara seats, sky, doors. if it has a leather interior.... the soundsystem is set for that special condition. (my nephew works for audi in ingolstadt, thats where i know about these things ;))
true however the other thing about B&O is the tuning that goes into the sound systems and the expertise in managing the acoustics, they may well be stupidly expensive but at least you get what you pay for
B&O is th best system ever put into a car. I own an A5 with 14 speakers, 505 watts and i've never anything so clear. I've been in cars with BOSE and Mark Levinson and they're good but this is a whole new sound experience. The bass isn't overbearing its perfect...i cannot stress enough how perfect this system is
Yup. I just bought the New Kia Mohave with INFINITY 750 watt soundsystem. its not 14 but 10 speakers. And a huge JBL sub in the back. i love Kia. They really started making quality cars. i owned Kia sorento before.
yOU can put hertz JL audio whatever the fuck ur talking about...it still wouldnt be as good as B&O....the pure genius of the system is its surround sound feature which makes the car a dance club....U go and do that with ur HSKWVEVRWU JL rwensugsd whatever while i buy an S8 with 1,100 Watts and own the road
...okay yeah do all that self installation that costs 30,000..when i said B&O was the best system ever put into a car i meant from stock.. competing with Mark Levinson, BOSE, Harmon Kardon are the only stock systems i've seen around where i live..i dont know what brands feature Nakamichi, Wilson, & Meridian...u can't compare customization to stock bro
im not so sure that an aftermarket sound system would beat this B&O system - its not only about speaker quality and power, but about tuning, phasing, efficiency and matching it to the car's interior. check out royal device - 16x18' subwoofers but they only needed 11wrms - less power than a car headunit to make people shit themselves. That is audio engineering. that is what B&) do
Well, I'd bet all the Grey Poupon in the world that this system would clean shitters with the B&O system: 2 Hertz MLK 3s (1 pair in the front and back in custom panels that would point the speakers at you), 2 13in. JL Audio W7 subs, 2 Audison Thesis amps powering the MLK3s, and 2 Audison VRx 1.500 amps feeding the W7s. Then, if you Dynamated the whole car (sound-proofed), and the installer had mad skills, this system would have awesome SQ, and about 2800 watts RMS. But, it'd cost nearly $35,000.
You still only listed parts and this basic premise of speakers "pointing" at you. In a car all speakers "point" at you, just others are more off-axis. Then there are reflections...ughhh, you haven't said anything about tuning. b02857 seems to know what true car audio is about.
PS, I'm the only one in N.A. with surround SACD in my car, I know what I'm doing.
Yes, tuning and all that crap does improve sound to a point. But, if B&O used their best speakers in this car, it'd cost more than 10K. So, these are not their best speakers (and I've heard their best, and I was not impressed.)
When you have speakers that are absolutly amazing, such as the Hertz Milles and JL Audio W7 sub, and powered by Audison VRX amps, installed correctly and having the car completely dynamated (sound proofed), the quality of those speakers will make up for any tuning.
Fair enough, I'd go with Seas Lotus drivers instead of Hertz and if I were allowed to go 5-8k in a car I would go with tube amps and Nakamichi amps for the low frequencies. Though, I guess we're just splitting hairs at this point.
Wow, tube amps for a car? That'd be interesting, if at all possible.
I can't find anything on Sea Lotus speakers. Do they have a website you could direct me to?
Those Hertz drivers, however, are awesome. Also, the JL Audio W7s are the core of their Fathom home sub; audiophiles say it sounds better than woofers 10x it's price!(3K) So, a W7 is in your car is basically having a Fathom in your car.
The people that get the really high-end go with nothing but Audison. So, I'd say it's pretty good.
This system sure is cool; those ACLs that pop out are quite are sweet. I own B&O's earphones, which are pretty good; I'm more impressed by the way they fit. Anyway, about this system; if you got a system with Hertz Mille MLK 2 speakers w/ kick panels in the front, MLK 165s in the back, and a JL Audio W6subwoofer, then this system would be greatly outperformed. And, that system would cost about the same as the B&O option. But, most people probably wouldn't go aftermarket with this car.
Idk, this B&O system received the "Car Audio System of the Year Award." But, it makes me wonder who won that award before, and who won it the next year. Mark Levinson, though, is in a completely different league than B&O performance-wise. I've listened to B&O speakers, and I hope I don't offend anyone, but I'd have to admit they didn't reflect their price; B&O seems to concentrate more on looks. But then, I do own their earphones, which I'd say are excellent; they are also well-priced.

für ein auto ein sehr gutes system, ich würde aber das burmester vom panamera bevorzugen.
als hifi-system für zuhause taugt B&O nicht. die technik stammt von panasonic oder pioneer...
außerdem sind die dinger total überteuert.
