  • did she slip

  • @elchingo1 That was a fall. But I didn't give up. I got right up and kept going. I was proud of that.

  • did she slip or was it part of the show

  • how many crystals are on this dress?

  • how many crystals are on this dress? its soo beatiful!

  • @Figures8erA10 Many, many. And they are strung together and sewn on as they dangle.

  • did she fall or was it part of it

  • @elchingo1 That was the nicest thing anyone has ever said! It was a fall- a bad fall, but thanks for being kind.

  • how many crystals on the dress? It's so beautiful!

  • @Figures8erA10 I don't know- a lot, I think. Lol

  • how many years you have in this video???

  • @ginny2002 9

  • You are so beautiful at 7:05 :)

  • @321mamy Thank you so much

  • i can see you in the olympics someday maybe ill be there with because im with us figure skating

  • @JTWHITE90NOT That would be so cool!

  • i am adout to start level 5.what level do you do the waltz jump?

  • @bethjoybeauty I don't really know. I didn't do ISI. I learned the waltz jump about 2 months after I started skating. I used it in a competition about 6 months after that but it was USFS Basic 3- or toe loop level.

  • @kokotakis Thank you so much! And I love your dress :)

  • Are you greek? :O

  • @stephaniecandy My grandfather was born on the island of Crete and came to the US on an olive oil boat in the 1950's. So, my family heritage is Greek.

  • @Kokotakis You are amazing :] By the way I am greek :]

  • @stephaniecandy That is so cool. Where do you live? in Greece?

  • Hi! I am from Canada, And I do figure skating too. I LOVE your music and I would like to know how to get the same version as your.

I know the title, but I can't find it. I found a lot of music by Porgy and Bess, but not with the same artist. I prefers your version.

Thank you very much, and I like your video, you're very good :)

  • @321mamy try the original soundtrack - the overture

  • This may seam like the dumbest question ever but did you fall inteninaly at minute 1:06 ??

  • @bwzebraslol Hahaha!!!! If only I had fallen intentionally!!! Nope. I let my upper body get ahead of my lower body and down I went!

  • Hi i was wondering if u do ballet or dancing also?

my friend is also a skater and she does ballet :D

    btw ur realllllllly good

  • @rainbowamy1 I take ballet during the summer. During the school year I play basketball, soccer and volleyball.

  • How often do you get ur skates sharpened? When r u competing again?

  • @LadyMaddy2000 Since my blades are Paramounts, I don't have to have them sharpened as much. I get them sharpened about every 2 months. I probably won't compete until May

  • what is this song called i want to use it for my next skating comp!

  • @muzic140 This is music from Porgy and Bess- the overture.

  • I am so excited and nervous for my first competition on the 19th!!!! were you nervous for your first competition?

  • @bgg664 I was really, really nervous until they announced my name and I LOVED the way that sounded. But, I was only 4. I get nervous now, but I keep telling myself that being really nervous doesn't help me skate any better and can keep me from skating well. Sometimes I listen to me and sometimes I don't. LOL. Controlling nerves is hard. Try to figure out what your worst fear is and just don't let that 1 thing happen.

  • WOW! Amazing, I do that stuff but I just turned 12. So your AMAZING for your age.

  • your spins are good, but you might want to work on your jumps and skating skills :/

  • @MsStickyBear I was 9 years old. That was a year ago. I am happy to say that both my jumps and skating skills are much better. Thanks for watching my video.

  • @Kokotakis There is one open all year, but it's outta Athens..in spata about 45 minutes from glyfada :)

  • @SwiftySkater Okay. I WANT to go to Greece SOON!

  • @Kokotakis There is one rink guys:) its in spata though :) kinda outside Athens- about 40 minutes from glyfada Gia! And in winter there is usually a seasonal rink but it didn't open this year for some reason :(

  • @MariliLuvParamore Hi! Um I skate in Athens and there is one rink - in spata! I skate there 4 times every week! It is the only one open all year around! It is not as big as his one of course, but it is 400 square meters :) δεν είναι υπεροχή η τζια? :D

  • omg teach me ;'( i've always wanted to learn but i've NEVER even stepped onto an ice rink D'X you're amazing!

  • You're so talented! I was going to ask u if ur from Greece but I saw the comments below:) I'm from Greece as well and live in Athens:) it's so sad that I cant learn ice skating here cause there are not many places to learn at:( καλή επιτυχία και πάντα να έχεις πάθος για αυτο που κανεις:)

  • @MariliLuvParamore Isn't there a rink in Athens? I heard that there is and was hoping to visit and train there sometime. My grandfather lives in Glyfada 6 months of every year.

  • i thought the fall was apart of the performence like when i fall in dancing

  • @mskaylove99 That is so funny. I hate when I fall. You get a 1 point deduction. I love to watch dancing. Do you watch Dance Moms?

  • @Kokotakis yeah but i dont do competitive i just dance to help with my acting and sining for musical theater

  • @mskaylove99 An actor! Very cool. My dad was on a soap opera and has done 106 national commercials.

  • @Kokotakis thats amazing im still trying to convince my mom to let me audition for something big but maybe after she sees me sing for the first time (i dont let my fam hear me when i practice)in cinderella (i play the herald) ill be able to how old are u now

  • @mskaylove99 I am 10 now. That is so great that you are in Cinderellla. I was in Annie once but only for my school and I don't think that we were very good.

  • kk. thx! would u recomend a coach?

  • @lenabean121 Sure, though I started in group classes and moved to private coaching later..

  • hi are you russian or what i love how you iceskate i am a gymnast

  • @TheRayris8 I am American but my dad's family is from Greece!

  • @lenabean121 Sure. I also suggest basketball and soccer and volleyball because that is what I do!

  • @Kokotakis how many hours do you skate a week? basketball, soccer, volleyball and skating sounds like a lot!

  • @funkymonkey776 I skate about 18-20 hours per week. My practices are during school because the teams are school teams that I play for.

  • Hi Gia is skating a lot of fun would u like to be friends I'm 12 yrs old my name is trinity

  • @glittergirl427 Sure. I would love to be friends. Nice to meet you. I am 10 years old now.

  • Is it funny and hard... Would u like to be friends

  • You're amazing, girl. Just awesome to watch :D

  • ur so amazing! how old r u?!?! and im not a creep. i sware. im a 10 yr old girl.

    :)

  • @lenabean121 I am 10 now but I had just turned 9 when this video was made.

  • Wow Your so graceful and beautiful when you dance , i envy you , such a amazing talent you have and all i can is write i"ve always envied figure skaters is it hard , and is it easy to lose weight when your a figure skater cuse i really need to find a sport that makes me lose weight im really sick and need to get better so :)

  • @arielsims60 Thank you for your wonderful comments. Skating takes a lot of energy, so I have to eat a lot to keep enough calories, but I train for about 4 hours each day. If you do any sport for that long, you burn tons of calories. I hope that skating can help you get well. it can also make you happy cuz it is so much fun!! Good luck.

  • ive got a magor wedgie LOL

  • Hi Gia, sorry to bother you but what size swarovski crystals does your mom gets?

  • @wluu1 My mom says that she uses the 20's most of the time and sometimes the 30's when she needs larger ones. The red dress from the 2010 La Jolla Open has only 20'a.

  • Hi Gia is figure skating your favorite sport? :)

  • @muzic140 Oh, yes! 2nd is Volleyball followed by Basketball. What about you?

  • @Kokotakis My favorite ice figure skating i just got my first pair of ice skates ever today!!!!!!!!!!!! there Jackson Artiste's :) :)

  • @muzic140 Very cool!

  • i do a LOT of off ice training

  • @tulipchic34 I just don't have time with school and everything,, plus my other sports.

  • @Kokotakis i do netball

  • @Kokotakis i do netball and ice skating

  • @Kokotakis but i just cant do a biellmann yet

  • haha SAVE SOME FOR THE PROGRAM!

  • y does it repeat at da end 3 or 4 times?

  • @101supercupcakegirl Nope. That is the way the overture goes.

  • Gia looks like lendsay Logan when she was a kid!!!!!

  • Hi Gia!! I was wondering what the first move you learned in figure skating

  • @muzic140 Falling down! hahaha! Seriously, the first thing they taught us in tot class was to fall down and get up. Then we learned to walk across the ice. My first real skating was the waltz jump. I did them off ice, too- everywhere I went and made my parents crazy.

  • i hate trying to do my prgram whem im dizzy im only in i think its prelimanary but its anoying. were was this comp.? and u did really good

  • @SPSkaterPerson89 Thanks. I loved this competition because it was in San Diego. I don't get as dizzy as I used to because I have to hold my spins for so many rotations now.

  • @Kokotakis "I have I major wedgie". LOL Made me smile. loved how u recovered from that fall, with a big smile on ur face. How do u spin so much without getting dizzy? I always wanted to know that.

  • @MeganTheVampire1 I do get dizzy! Haha. You just learn to skate dizzy. Thank you for the nice comments.

  • how did she place?

  • @mrunicornguypearson I was 3rd

  • Did she fall????

  • @cutiebri912 Yep. I fell.

  • @Kokotakis ohhh

  • can you please tell me what the names of these songs are called? I'm learning a new freestyle program soon and I am thinking about using this music. I love it=))

  • @IcEsIsTeRs1 I DO get dizzy! You just learn to skate dizzy. Haha. Thank you for the nice comments.

  • @IcEsIsTeRs1 This is from Porgy and Bess- the opening overture and summertime.

  • wow she is like a pro spinner no joke

im like about her level double lutz double axelish but hers are amazing

  • AMAZING !!! you will go a long way in skating !

  • Hey Gia, Your really good i'm 10 years old and i'm not as good as you, but I hope to be some day.Your brilliant Please answer back From Portia xx

By the way we both have unusual names no offence bye x

  • @booyaakasha1 Did you know that my real name is Giacoma? Seriously?!? What were my parents thinking! lol. I was named after my grandmother

  • YOUR ONLY NINE!?!?WOW!!

    Your soooo good!!!(:

  • LOVED EVERYTHING!

    Felt sorry when ya fell

  • Are you doing the christmas show this year? And if you are, what song are you skating to? I can't wait to see your new programs soon! :-D

  • @Figures8erA10 I am doing the Winter Recital at Culver Ice Arena and I am so excited to be skating to Hallelujah. I choreographed the program myself! Thanks for watching all my videos. I hope that I skate well and have a really good video to put up. Love, Gia

  • I agree... Wow I feel like a stalker looking through comments one every video lol.! But, triples are much harder than doubles as well as different. A double is only an axle hooked onto a different entry, and the triple is basically a double axle put onto a different kind of entry. It requires more core work, and leg muscle.

    Just saying ((: haha

  • @marshmellokissesDOTT Thanks for watching the videos. This is Gia. My mom answers a lot of the time, but this time it is me. I am the one doing or trying to do the double axel and the triples that they were talking about and trust me, they are WAAAAAAYYYYYY different from all the other doubles. My rear end and hips can tell you that, too. Hahaha. Really, thanks so much for watching. I am hoping to get to 1million hits some day.... Love, Gia

  • @Kokotakis Im Gonna Have To Agree With @marshmallowkissesDOTT ! I also feel like a real stalker but it does seem pretty rediculous to compare triples to doubles! If triples were the same as doubles, they wouldnt be worth so much more in competition, and more skaters would be able to land them! Haha i watch your videos everyday Gia, and I think you are just about the only skater i never get bored of watching.Haha!:) You are almost there!

  • @SwiftySkater Thanks so much. I am standing up on triple sow and triple loop, but both are cheated. I hope to have them clean by next season.

  • @Kokotakis Haha. Yeah i'm sort of working on my double axel but... I am really scared to try it a lot of the times. I know that people usually hurt them self by doing the easy stuff like stroking, but I am scared i'm gonna like crack my head open or something lol.

And I think you will get 1million views one day because you are really good!

  • @marshmellokissesDOTT Thanks for saying that. BTW- I am afraid of cracking my head on the double axel, too.

  • i love everything about her performance!

  • nice job it was very good and well choreographed i liked it a lot nice job :)

  • @2:20 she looked like a mushroom

  • @manleyosaurus Some people call that sit spin position the mushroom. Some call it the tuck.

  • she is amazing and definitely has the right blades for those jumps!

  • No, you are not working on the same jumps as Gia- She has her double axel, triple sow is only slightly cheated, she is landing triple flip and triple loop- cheated, but standing up. Triples are very different from doubles and until you do them, you can't understand. Also, this dress was for National Showcase and she has worn it for 2 full seasons and it still fits- she competed in 2 weeks ago. But, thank you for your opinion.

  • @Kokotakis how do you know i'm not working on them? And triples are just doubles pulled in a little tighter, only difference.

  • @IcEsIsTeRs1 Because I looked at your videos. And triples are much different than doubles- they are much harder on the body and require much more technical precision to execute. I should know these things as a USFS and PSA certified coach.

  • @IcEsIsTeRs1 Is It Really Any Of Our Business How Much They Spend On Their Daughter? Its Not.Whatever Mr And Mrs Kokotakis Are Doing Seems To Be Paying Off-Gia Is A Great Skater And Seems To Be Enjoying It,! So I Don't See Why You Mind. And Doubles Are NOT The Same As Triples. Don't bother lying that yiu are working on the same jumps as Gia when all of us can see that you can barely land your axel and double salchow.

  • @Kokotakis Shes good and she seems very confident and I think she can go a long way if she is working on triples at 9 years old. How long has she been skating?

  • @VictoriousSkater I started at 4 years old. Thanks so much for the nice things that you said. I love skating more than anything in the world!

  • @Kokotakis Shes good and seems very confident. But I do think it is a little much to spend that much money on a nine year old. How long has she been skating?

  • No, you are not working on the same jumps as Gia- She has her double axel, triple sow is only slightly cheated, she is landing triple flip and triple loop- cheated, but standing up. Triples are very different from doubles and until you do them, you can't understand. But, thank you for your opinion.

  • just a question, why do you spend that much money on gia? shes only 9! She doesn't need all of that stuff

  • @IcEsIsTeRs1 I completely disagree with you. I am a USFS certified coach and her boots and blades are the level that she needs for the doubles and triples that she is doing now. Additionally, if you watch the Southwest Pacific Regional Championships on Icenetwork, you will see that Gia's costumes are comparable to the other competitors. Sure, the other competitors are older, but the USFS system is not an age-based system. Gia competes against girls as old as 14 after sept. 1.

  • @Kokotakis I am working on the same jumps as she is and my blades weren't nearly that expensive, its just a waste of money to buy 500 dollar blades. I mean come on there blades! what about the dresses? In my opinion it's rediculous to spend hundreds of dollars on a dress she's just going to outgrow in a year.

  • @IcEsIsTeRs1 I'm 18 and my blade's cost 600 and my boots are about 650. and the costumes are not ridiculous ! This is a sport where dresses are made to match your music not something off a shelf . I only get custom made dresses for my self which are not cheap , in general this sport is not cheap , if you want a cheap sport go to hockey ! or take up running veryyyyy cheap :) .

  • @missanimallover92 Trust me, I wish Gia wanted to be a runner. Get a pair of sneakers and go. It would be much cheaper. But, she loves to skate. She wakes me up in the morning at 4:30am to go to the rink- now that is loving a sport! Would love to see you skate. Where do you train?

  • @Kokotakis Haha my parent's feel the same way it cost's ALOT to be a skater especially competitively . I do the same 4:30am and we have to drive an hour to get to the rink . I skate at NSWC In Vancouver , BC Canada . I do need to post some video's as i've been on and off due to a knee injury .. Suck's but working my way to get all my double's back :) I love Gia's performances tho , very energetic .

  • @missanimallover92 That is so wild- one of Gia's coaches is from Canada- her name is Natalie Shaby and she is still an amazing skater! She is 47 years old with the biggest double Axel you have ever seen!!!! I think that she is from the Calgary area.

  • good job

  • your good

  • how old are you now

    because your really good

  • @kittykattenkat I am still 9 but will be 10 in a couple of months.

  • @kittykattenkat she is 9.

  • how old are you now

  • @Kokotakis How much did her skates and dress cost? Just wondering cause I like the colors of her blade and the coler of the dress!

  • @wluu1 Gia's blades are about $525 but last for 2 pair of boots. The dress was a custom dress made by Franco Martinez, who designs the costumes for the LA Ballet Co. and it was very expensive, but she has worn it for 2 1/2 years.

  • im currently working on my sit and camel spins. any tips?

  • @hockeychick1301 keep your back straight on the sit and go into the camel with an arch in your back. Good luck.

  • WOW even when she falls she gets up and smiles

  • good job!

  • kool program :)

  • pretty dress!

  • her dress is really pretty!!!

  • Wow! You're so good. I wish I had have of that skill!

  • As long as you can move on ice, you should start on Basic 2-3. I started on 3. Keep on taking group lessons until, say, basic 5-6. Then you should start taking private lessons. Having your own coach is much more expensive, but the teacher focuses on you and only you, so it really helps. Good Luck!

  • hey Gia,

im starting ice-skating lessons soon and im wondering if i should get my own ice-skates instead of using thiers because i went ice-skating yesterday but found it hard to ice-skate in them, the ones i'd preferd to have , my friend had but she's really seifish and wounldn't let me use them :/ so i was just wondering because i found a pair which are under 30 pounds and i could just use them for the lessons xxx

  • the olympics is in this girls future omg O.O

  • I Love figure skating, and I have my own skates and all that, I really want to take lessons ( public or private) but my family ( or myself) cannot afford it. Just how much can you learn without lessons, and would you have to start at basic 1 if you did start lessons even if you already knew the moves up to Basic 5, say? Help greatly appreciated :) !

  • @heartbandit99 try taking group lessons- that is how I started.

  • @heartbandit99 Figure skating is a really expensive sport :(

Its a real shame ! You should try group lessons ( because then instead of being 30 dollars for half an hour it would be 6 if there were five of you for example). But if it is too pricey then sure you can learn by yourself! Technique might be tricky though, but go for it!

  • She is so pretty and is a GREAT skater!! Keep uo the wonderful work!! :D

  • She is amazing :)

I am 12, and going to start taking lessons.

I wish I would of started when I was younger!

  • @NessaLoveWoahxP I started when I was 12 (a year ago) and I have to say, if you work hard and do your best you will get good results. Right now I am soon passing to the last stage of Juniors. So work hard and you will get there.

  • @karynaluvspink my coach only charges 16 pound for my lesson but there's a 6 pound charge to use the ice so in total it costs around 22pound for a half an hour lesson and rink time afterwards :)

  • You can build your own ice rink. I was in showbiz and once we built, froze and struck an ice rink in just two days. They've even got plastic ice sheets that interlock together. Everybody could have a rink in their own back yard.

  • omg this made me cry you're such a good skater!!!! I'm 12 and started 2 years ago, and I compete pre preliminary, and this really impressed me since you're only 9! keep going!!!!!! i wish we could meet in person one day you seem very nice :)

  • oh so how much a week

  • @karynaluvspink 18 to 20 hours per week

  • @Kokotakis so how much do u pay a week .total

  • @karynaluvspink Well, it varies from week to week, but with ice time, Gia's training during competition season (Feb-Oct) can be as much as a thousand a week. Sometimes, it is much less.

  • @Kokotakis dang thats a lot, i dont hav that kind of money

  • @Kokotakis It's really that epensive in the states? Wow! we thought Greece was expensive but turns out its actually fine.we pay 30 Euros but for a 1 hour lesson! and entrance is 12 Euros for all day pass :)

  • @Kokotakis How can you manage to pay a thousand dollar in one week for her skating?

  • @wluu1 I don 't feed Gia. Haha. Just kidding. We don't spend $1,000 every week. Just some weeks and we make sacrifices in other areas of our lives. Also, Gia only skates 10 1/2 months a year. She takes 6 weeks off during the year. The cost of skating is hard on our family, but the sacrifice is worth it if it makes Gia happy.

  • @Kokotakis Is this the same dress she wore for Dont rain on my Parade?

  • @hockeychick1301 Yes. This was the first competition of the season and her yellow dress designed by Jan Longmire wasn't ready yet. It was a good temporary dress.

  • oh,so $100 an hour,4 how many hours do u train a day or week

  • @karynaluvspink Between 18 and 20 but most of that is practice- not lessons.

  • how much do u pay for the lessons plz answer :)
