• Sure. Because we all know how credible Starbucks is.

  • starbucks is not the only company joining up with (red) many other companies are as well. Not only did starbucks do the exclusice drinks they also made a gift card that is (red) and for every drink no matter wich drink it is 5 cents goes towards it. I think it is a great thing they starbucks is doing.

  • Heres a thought before complaining about it being "only 5 cents" think about how many of these beverages they sell a day. Lets say approx 200 per day per store minimum. That is 10$ per store per day. Not much? think again. Multiply that by 16,226 stores. Thats is $1622.60 per day now multiply that by 36 days that makes the minimum amount donated to charity $58,413.60 which will defiantly make a HUGE difference

  • wow, starbucks, you're too good, really.

    <3

  • Something better than nothing

  • Only 5 CENTS?!

  • Why complain about how much money they give away to Africa?

    Most companies doesn't give ANYTHING ! ! !

  • The idea behind Product(RED) is to tackle a difficult problem by getting commerce involved in the fight. Governments sure aren't getting it done. Public companies like Starbuck's need to be attentive to the bottom line. They are answering to shareholders. Five cents is something.

If you ranked (RED) against countries that contribute money for fighting preventable disease in Africa, they would be 13th and the anount they contribute grows every year because companies like Starbuck's get onboard.

  • how bout we just go over to their country and fix their problems instead of fighting 2 wars in other foreign countries

  • Starbucks always makes awesome videos !

    i love Starbucks!♥

  • 5 cents donated only on three drinks? Cheap Bastards.

  • Starbucks, if you REALLY want to do something about the AIDS epidemic in Africa, then do more than just only 5 cents per drink for only one day!

  • If you want free stuff before thanksgiving, like video games and iphones, ipods, etc...

    send me a PM

  • I still won't pay $3.freaking85 for a capp. Sorry.

  • 5 cents...pffftttt...

  • im maybye goin

  • Pff.. Only three drinks does this?

I mean, you use exploited farmers, sell the fair trade coffee at more expensive prices, and claim you're helping?

5 cents from a 5.00 drink.. so from 100 customers, buying one of these three drinks you offer, you make 495 dollars, and give 5 dollars to help others??

Stop pretending like you give a damn, and if you're going to pretend, try making it believable.

  • man this Retarded... I work for "censorsed"in Africa.. protecting NGO's and other Humanitarian Aid workers.. No money gets to those starving it is stolen by corrupt govt and given to tribal warlords in the Area.. this happens in Somalia,Sudan,DRC and other places..you can't fight poverty.

  • nice motion design. i like.

  • Ok this is a great gesture Starbucks but those drinks cost like 5 bucks all you can give if $.05 of each drink!?!?!

  • It's like 3 for a vente.

  • America doesn't run on D.D. what are they doing to help?

Nothing Starbucks Rocks. better bean! better service!

  • sub me and get 5 subs back

  • Only 5 cents? I don't need to buy a Starbucks to donate that much.

  • Oh, the irony.

  • I for one thinks it is brilliant! Thanks Starbucks for taking the lead and showing some incredible corporate social responsibility. I am proud you have gone (RED)!

  • hypocrites

  • so youll support aids but still use child slave labor and abuse labor laws??? Drink coffee drink FAIR TRADE!!!

  • HUH WHAT DO U MEAN?

  • I work for starbucksv=]

  • I like those parenthesis around the starbucks symbol raised to the red power. Looks mathematical.

  • so youll donate to aids but you still will use child slave labor??? Drink coffee Drink fair Trade!

  • starbucks has a youtube channel?

    seriously? I mean, SERIOUSLY?

  • starbucks is a jewish company. its very typical from jews that they will help black africans but not help poor white Europeans from Moldovia.

  • i was also going to say that without afriacns how could any sports team do any goo

  • if they did this with dunkin donuts, it'd be better

  • Well arent you a hearless person jeez..

  • HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • its more like . "help to end lives in africa" since all the money goes to the goverments of those countrys (IF the money goes out of usa)

  • 5 cents? That means one store would have to sell 2,000 cups of "specialty" coffee a day to make $100!! Also is this only for the US or the entire world?

  • Poor kids,

It makes me grateful that I live in a great country, South Africa.

  • nah dude if we did that we wouldnt be able to prosper on its agriculture

  • OMG! I'm from South Africa and I'm not poorr. I'm tired of everyone thinking we are people that eat dirt for dinner, and have AIDS. We are a developed country just like USA, Canada, or Australia. If you want to see the sterotypical Africa go to Central African Republic. omgg.

  • clever marketing

  • For all of you IDOTS who think that this is a joke, we live in ONE world. Even if its a small profit, every second someone is DYING from aids, do you understand that.... DYING, due to lack of antiviral aids medicine. So lets hope no one you know will ever be affected by this disease. For all of you awesome people out there, BUY EVERYTHING PRODUCT RED!!!!!! JESS

  • put your ads on tv, you can afford it right?

  • Funny how starbucks begins doing all these humanitarian promotions for the people in Africa right when they lose a huge margin of profit. Pathetic, and obvious. But o well. At least some money is being put to good use.

  • Making profits by using people's good-heart is just pathetic!

  • After years of protesting of people, 5 cents is what they give...And why? Because they going to the shitter with their profits with a cheap corporate marketing tactic...

  • (What if)...starbucks sucks? haha..had 2 say it..

  • I think this is a great idea. There is a large number of people who do not donate any amount within the year. Those people will be giving without doing any additional spending. And as for you people who think 5cents is nothing, its something. Many companies are doing nothing to aid the people who need help. Starbucks, a company that is on the downfall, is going out of its way to help! A donation of any amount is better then nothing! This is not a cooperate scam, called supporting a platform.

  • cool first ipod nano red and now starbucks red cool

  • I think the current CEO for starbucks has been doing a lot of good compared to most money grubbing CEOs out there.

Granted the whole point is to build up the company's rep to increase profits. They're still doing it in a lot better way than most places.

  • Africa for sure doesn't care about the majority of the USA

  • it only applies to three drinks though, it should be all of them, but I guess it's better than nothing.

  • 5 cents? this is a SHAM, you freaking suck starbucks

  • totaly false , this is a marketing scam , there so many other ways help out , like for example ; if we only took 10% of the money put in publicity or ads, there would be no more hunger on earth.think about that

  • starbucks coffee makes me shit a lot.

  • haha "Not sure if you noticed, but there are a lot of starbucks out there." HILARIOUS.

  • I honestly believe it should be more than $0.05. I'll just donate more to UNICEF when I see someone from there again.

  • remind me to never buy a Starbucks red beverage.

screw AIDS in Africa, lost cause.

  • oh give me a break... nothing is ever done with out thinking of profit...

  • indeed, i agree with you 100%

this is just a scam to make us think they are ecofriendly.... (is that the word)

  • Dude is this a joke? why is this a number one most viewed video.

  • Starbucks probably bought an advertising deal with youtube. More people look at the videos section than ads, ya know.

  • 5 cents a cup! after millons of cups daily has to add up!! Moreover, it's better than Most other billion dollar business that don't even give a PENNY.........

  • star bucks sucks

  • Has this anything to do with Apple's RED-products?

  • yeah, same organization

  • RED is not a product of Apple, it is it's own organization. You can buy a red ipod in order to support their cause though.

  • Well, this is an interesting publicity stunt. Profits down 97% in the fourth quarter, so they pick up a charity to get attention. And this deal only works with 3 specific drinks except on December 1st.

  • 97% are you serious!?

You didn't mention those 3 drinks are their most expensive drinks..

  • The donated money should be going to aid our financial woes in THE UNITED STATES! Not going to aid those in a country that endless money and resources has NEVER and will NEVER be able to fix their issues. We have people dying from AIDS in our own country, now is the time to help ourselves first and right things here before throwing more money into a country that could care less about us to begin with.

  • Republican? Still hurting?

  • Don't forget we're talking about a private corporation whose only wish is to take benefit of every situation, they are not really commited with you, America, Africa or all the crappy jobs they're offering in your contry. From my European eyes and with my best wishes,I would recomend you to enpower your state to regulate your economy, since the autoregulable markets has proved to be a real failure. Socialism isn't that bad ^^

  • And I wonder who's fault it is for making Africa the way it is now...

  • 5 Cents better than most other billion dollar companies that not even a penny!!!

  • Business interests will always be pursued, even if disguised, no matter how good........

  • Nice to see something good coming out of Starbucks for once.

  • Marketing, along with a few others, is the bane of modern human existence.

    Mediocrity never seemed so plausible.

  • 5 cents....THATS CHEAP STARBUCKS!!

Fuck you, I'd rather donate $20 bucks to a charity instead!!

  • well this is very inspirational.

i think its great that starbucks is doing something.

so people need to stop blaming.

  • Ok, here is the deal. If I am approved by the freemasons to post this. Do you really think Starbucks is doing this out of generosity or caring? That is the point. This is clearly a deception campaign to feed off of the generosity or ignorance of others to increase profits for a company with dwindling stock performance. Another thing- How much does Starbucks or their contractors pay the ethiopians for the coffee produced? Pennies at the most on the dollar. What a joke, a terrible selfish joke....

  • Corporate scam at its best.

  • People who work at starbucks know what a great company this is. I'm one of those people. I used to think starbucks was just another money-grubbing corporate business. But now that I work for them, I see what a great company it is. Stop the hating when you have no idea about the company.

  • check out inandoutsolarsoccer

  • "US coffee chain Starbucks is denying Ethiopia farmers from earnings of £47m ($88m) a year"

source from BBC, few years ago.

ALL WE NEED FOR AFRICA IS FAIR TREAD AND OF COURSE GOOD GOVERNANCE.

  • good starbucks

  • awl that's so sweet.

  • Oh sure, they'll donate millions of dollars for foreign countries, but when my Brother's Bot Scouts troup asks them to donate to the Soldiers and Veterans of their OWN contry, they refuse. I love America deeply, with a passion, but I have to admit, if America has one down fall, it would ignorance.

  • Yes, great idea, lets throw more money in the giant bottomless pit meanwhile our economy is in shambles. If you look at the statistics, all these efforts at throwing money at Africa has paid off! Tax dollars at work! (sarcasm)

*Copy and paste if you agree.

  • how is this second most viewed today?

  • im sick of seeing this style of video. theres a program that does it all for you and people keep doing the same thing. yeah it was cool when it was new now its just lame

  • Can anyone just tell me the name of the artist playing this song? I love the guitar parts...

  • right, like Africa is the only place on earth that is poor and needs help, Central America? South America, much of asia and the Middle East? Eastern Europe?

how typical, ohh no poor AFRICA

  • Hahaha why yes, there ARE a lot of Starbucks, aren't there??

  • Is Starbucks asking for bailout money?

  • For everyone hating on this whole idea, stop being idiots. Those of you who are saying that you're better off donating money directly to charity then stop talking about it an do it. This isn't an alternative. This is another opening for donations for people that wouldn't even consider donating in the first place. (RED) approached Starbucks about this idea, not the other way around. Starbucks could've easily said no and kept all their nice little money. Starbucks isn't JUST a money machine.

  • aww..starbucks sucks....dunkin all the way

  • i have to say, as big as Starbucks is, 5 cents is NOT a lot ...

  • why only 5 cents? i swear a cup of starbucks is at least $3 on avg.

  • Forget this corporate propaganda, we should be looting starbucks instead of doing them favors and buying their product while thinking we're doing something for the poor. No poverty can be solved by donating 5 cents to a charity, we have to destroy the very corporations who perpetuate poverty like starbucks itself. We need another movement like November 30, 1999! $millions of damage was done to starbucks and their sickening institutions, remember that you sons of bitches?

  • you know that peole in africa are being euthenized every secound including children thats wat the campaing is about

  • too many brackets

  • These campaigns are so great...but why Starbucks? lol

  • How bout we help save lives in our own country first?

  • So they're giving 1% of their national profits away to starving children for a few days out of the whole year and they're doing a good deed? Wake up people, this is the same corporation who has invested in international institutions like the WTO and has empowered the central bank with not only their profits, but their cups they sell filled with poison and false-reality. Corporatism is accountable for millions of deaths, countless murder, and we subscribe to this sad excuse for a good deed?

  • Apple is doing this too. They released iPod Nano (Pruduct) red to support people in Africa.

  • 0:50 agreed.

  • Hey corporate scum known as Starbucks.......Why not help some poor and starving Americans, build houses for people misplaced by Katrina, give food and clothing to our homeless suffering through the cold winter, help families with no food or money during the holiday thanks to outsourcing of jobs??? I guess it doesn't sound as trendy as what you have decided to do. Your profits will still continue to fall, we now the truth about you giant family destroying corporations....

  • normally people wouldn't donate money to such reputable organizations, so while I think SBUX should be donating more per cup of coffee, it is a good cause. every 4 cups sold = 1 child saved (vaccination cost). Besides, people are going to go buy SBUX coffee anyway, but yes there is such a thing as a "double bottom line" meaning the corporation profits and so does a third party that needs charity- for example, African mothers in need of a cheap vaccination that would save their child's life.

  • You want to help someone? Help them first hand, someone who really needs the help. Giving money blindly is just ignorant.

  • There is such a thing as a "triple bottom line"

    Social, Environmental & Financial

  • I cant believe the ignorance of some people. I've lost 2 uncles and an Aunt to the AIDS epidemic in Africa and sum people r complainin. damn

  • i know

  • saintviper67, then you should be angry. You can't blindly trust corporations to do the right thing as much as you wish they were trust worthy, they arn't. Ive seen corruption first hand.

God help the diseased people, God damn the corporate middle-man. THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED!!!

  • People are complaining because this is clearly a ploy to increase profits. Can you really believe that a corporation of shareholders (with stocks that have been declining) is doing this out of their good hearts? That is what is is ignorant, ignoring the deception. Can you really say that they did not try to increase revenue by this? Ignorance is believing their tactics or preying on ignorant people like yourself.

  • sorry to hear that, but remember in almost all cases AIDS is caused by personal choice

  • Why Africa? Why not focus on rebuilding Iraq after the US invaded?

  • because africa is in more need

  • ??? wdf are you stupid

  • because iraq has a several tens of billions budget surplus >_>

rebuilding iraq takes management, as the funds are already there. the US would have to manage iraqi institutions to get those funds for reconstruction, but i can bet you what iraq would say about being told what to do with their budget, less of all then by america, with out budget deficit and all

  • cause iraq has a budget surplus >_> we could just use their own money and rebuild it ourselves... but i doubt the iraqis would trust us with their money...

  • ... cause iraq has a budget surplus? we could just use their money to rebuild iraq... <_< but for some reason i dont think theyd let us manage their money, do you?

  • i think the government should go rebuild iraq and also that some parts in africa (ie. Uganda) could use more help than iraq

  • Because Africa's current situation is way worse than Iraq's right now. There are much more people needing some help there also, remember that it's a whole continent.

  • omg, africa needs sooo much more help.

  • alot of folks don't know this, but the money goes to help with preventing the transmission of diseases from the mother to child during pregnancy. The illnesses transmitted give the child a small chance at survival. The vaccination is very cheap to prevent the transmission of infection, and gives the child more strength and immunity to certain easily preventable diseases. It only costs 20 cents, but they are too poor for that. So they are offering to donate 5 cents per cup, which is not much

  • the aids is not transfered during pregnancy, but during breast feading. the Baby makes his OWN blood and that has nothing to do with the mothers blood, which is the means of transfering AIDs.reasons towards throwing away bad needles and not allowing AID victims to donate blood.

  • ijuh22, just because you tell people something, doesn't make it true. Just because you claim it to be a good thing, doesn't make it good. Your talking about blind belief, most times it doesn't work for the better and I hope more people with realize that. If they don't I feel sorry for the world.

  • Where does the ethiopian coffee come from? What are the wages given to these people by Starbucks or their contractors? This is appalling.

  • Wow... It's funny to see Starbucks marketing this way. They are losing business because no one can afford $5 coffee. So now they are using the "Save the world" message to just put money in their own pockets. Sad.

  • and it only has 180,000 views and it's seconde most viewed today? i doubt it

  • i agree their drinks are expensive but so is every other coffee shop. at least in canada all their prices are pretty much the same

  • Yes they are, but if you think what they say on this commercial isn't true, you need to stop talking and starting listening and learning.

  • Actually, Starbucks has been invovled in charities since they became a major corporation. They've done alot of environmental work and this isn't the first time they've partnered with AIDS help groups. They've been doing it far before the economy crashed & burned. Oh, and Starbucks profits have been on the rise since they got a new CEO. I know it's crazy to think but some people really just CARE.

  • Well that's a clever marketing campaign if I ever saw one...

  • It feels good to think your helping, but do you know your helping and not hurting?

Picture that the color red in that advertisement stands for the very greedy people running Starbucks and they are laughing at you for giving your hard earned money to THEM!!!

Even if they didn't raise the prices to do this, they are expensive and they will likely get more people buying their coffee just because those people think they're helping.

  • Yes, great idea, lets throw more money in the giant bottomless pit meanwhile our economy is in shambles. If you look at the statistics, all these efforts at throwing money at Africa has paid off! Tax dollars at work! (sarcasm)

  • fuxthisshiet, very much agreed.

Did you hear? 30 years ago we were, "so close" to curing cancer. Today we are also, "so close". Hold on to your money everyone, unless it's going directly to a friend or family member truely in need, you can't trust it's going in the right place and that's dangerous.

  • yes, its true our economy is terrible, but other people are dying, and we can help them. I'm not saying go buy Starbucks...they are WAY to expencive... but at least they are giving back to the world...its better than nothing...

  • last year starbucks profits were 5,412,473 dlls. 5 cents for every drink would equal 270,618.. and for me thats a lot of money for a good cause so stop blaming.. because they're really helping people in need.

  • mdurazobxx, as far as YOU know, they are helping. Take my adice, save your money and if you want to help people, do it first hand. That way you know the money is going to the rightful place.

  • it is not 5 %.

  • where did you come up with $5,412,473? Not that it really matters because it is based off of the number drinks sold in a one month time frame, not annual profit.

  • maybe if starbucks really wants to do something productive they can sell exclusively fair trade coffee instead of exploitng the hell out of poor coffee bean farmers.

  • LIES!

They're going to take that money they SHOULD be giving to Africa and all go out for an expensive dinner and laugh about how stupid we all are for believing them.

  • Say, I've got an idea! Why not donate the whole $3.00 from your latte and go without ONE?

This way, the donation is worth 60 times what Starbucks wanted to give Seems reasonable to me.

  • luchiloo, it's a nice thought, but you should never donate blindly. How do you know for certain where your money's going? Your better off helping a friend or relative truely in need.

  • Don't blindly give these corporations trust. Hold on to your money and use for what YOU KNOW is good. Help a friend or relative thats truely in need. Thats not greedy on your behalf, that's using your head.

  • Hollywood's all ready trying to save the world.Why-not help here first.

  • this is really goo i luv it!!!!!!!!!

  • What about helping people here first.Hollywoods already trying to save the rest of the world.

  • Yeah, better they should give nothing - you ungrateful non-contributing zeros!

  • Really, 5 cents?......That's ridiculous!!! How about the profits from those "Exclusive" beverages........Oh and don't get me started on the water they sell..........

  • for those of you idiots that are complainign that Starbucks isn't doing enough...what the heck are you doing to save lives in Africa. Most of you have probably never donated 5 cents to anything in your life...stop your whining....

at least Starbucks is doing something, more than you can say for yourself....

  • it a cool commercial

with the red and white turning and flipping and zooming

    whats the song?

  • too bad they dont care about the troops fighting over seas thery wont give them ne of thier product the truth needs to be heard ITS OUT THERE JUST LOOK AND FIND IT

  • so, Starbucks didn't want to sell drinks to the troops, but are helping people in Africa for free? Since when did Starbucks care about the world?

  • O_O... how about saving some lives HERE in the USA ... keep the money HERE for once !!! or at the LEAST... give it to people that WANT OUR HELP to begin with!!! Not Goverments that continually TAKE and TAKE and TAKE and do nothing at all for themselves or for the PEOPLE!!! This sickens me...I'll never step into a starbucks again!!!

  • what a great way starbucks to save YOUR OWN SKIN by jipping people into think that your intention are good but are actually a selfish intention.

ps. 5 cents wow thats alot to save people.

  • awesome

  • starbucks sux i hang out there and eat taco bell and NEVER order anything.

  • Tim Hortons is way better, less burnt tasting and smoother.

  • see the funny part is now they're not just messing with alzheimers patients (walks out of a starbucks and sees one across the street, "oh look a starbucks") but these people make shitty coffee raise the prices and on top of that make loads of starbucks instead of donating the money for people in third world country they build a starbucks across the street from two neighboring starbucks

  • Tim Hortons is way better, less burnt tasting and smoother.

  • It's cause-advertising. They make a larger profit when they advertise giving to a cause and give a small portion of proceeds to a charity. Gap Inc did (does) it and many others. It's capitalism disguised as altruism.

  • their coffee is too damn expensive as it is, if I'd be buying their coffee (and sometimes snacks) instead of tim hortons I'd be spending 30-40$ more a month.

  • i seriously feel sorry for those kids who go through a lot in africa! god bless them

  • 109nobles, you probably only know what you've been told and shown second hand.

  • Good initiative.

  • isnt starbucks going out of business?

  • Personaly i cant aford starbucks but i commend you for your efforts to end world hunger.

  • Will some of those nickels go to nurture and uplift Somali pirates?

  • RAGE RAGE RAGE!!1111

Starbucks buys its coffe from Athiopia, the Athiopian people do everything with their hands and it is the best coffe in the world.

ANYWAYS STARBUCKS PAYS ALMOST NOTHING TO THE POOR PEOPLE IN ATHIOPIA FOR THE GREAT WORK THEY DO AND NOW THEY DO ADS FOR HELPING AFRICA??!!

RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE

  • Click my username to come to my channel. Then look in my videos, there are lots of diffrent videos to choose from. We hope you enjoy selecting!!!

    Good vid by the way.

  • its funny because they actually raised the price of every drink by 5 cents...When im late to class i get a venti coffee it used to be 1.90 now its 1.95 cheap ass bitches, at least donate 25 cents
