Sooo if you see racist attitudes existing today it is because of the legacy that many of our ancestors have either experienced or inflicted on others. As a black woman, I have experienced the "Obama hatred" from other Blacks. While there is no denying that racism has just gone underground and is alive and well, it is nowhere near as bad as the 60's HOWEVER there is plenty to go around because it is not gone away by a long shot.

Many AA's simply don't realize I think what they do to themselves. I know in many states they have more opportunity and advantages than whites do, yet don't take advantage of them. As a white man I see it like this...Centuries of oppression have caused systemic poverty throughout the "black community". Now that the rights of the minority are protected, blacks have the freedom to excel. Unfortunately it takes time and a lot of thinking outside the box for future generations to reach beyond the limits of their parents even when the barriers are removed. I personally think it would take another 100 years for the effects of oppression to bottom out.

I think however the reason for separation from a white perspective has more to do with cultural differences than for any racially based differences. There is and will always be a difference in culture between black and white folks that's as much in contrast as their skin color is to one another.
