  • Awesome!

  • My top guitarist in no order: Becker for his neo-classical style that would give bach a run for his money, Friedman simply because i love megadeth and Hangar 18 has the best solo in metal ever, Govan because of his diversity And improv prowess , Jarzombek for his twelve tone tonal while atonal at the same time method and Paul Waggoner for his overall note choice while composing

  • 1:12 from what movement of 25th symph is this from? sounds really cool.

  • Always reminds me of "Amadeus", for obvious reasons.

  • @proteoid Anyway, let's agree that if you asked both of them about each other, they would probably say the other was better.

  • @proteoid I've came here again just to argue again about Shawn Lane. One of the things that made him my favorite guitarist is that he got flute, clarinet and even saxophone players' licks (such as John Coltrane). That made his tone different from any other guitarist. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the most different lick Becker ( and other guitarist) came from violin players. In THIS subject Shawn Lane is the most diverse of guitarists. Sorry, but I refuse to accept Lane isn't diverse.

  • @SonicBrunoth also japanese scales, which he learned from friedman and music that i have no idea where it cam from like in "electric prayer for peace"

  • @westjt17 Lane got influence on Indian music, that is Fusion naturally xD

  • @SonicBrunoth Becker was still really young man. also He said that he really liked shawn and wanted to take lessons form him

  • @proteoid Only to play fusion you have to be diverse already. Anyway, that's just my opinion, I believe in the guitar trinity: Lane - God, Holdsworth - Holy Ghost, Govan - Jesus. Again, that's just my opinion! Relax.

  • 2 akinek nem tetszik buzi köcsög

  • what symyphony is this.

  • To all the creepy fans of Shawn Lane GTFO! u come to compare your idol that´s lame

Shawn songs are like jingles and if you think something different you have all the technical crap in your head......pretentious piece of shit get the fuck out now damn trolls

Come with uncle and hear all proper! Hear angel trumpets and devil trombones. You are invited.

  • MY FUCKIN IDOL!!!!! LONG LIVE JASON BECKER!!

  • Honestly.. is there anyone on this planet that can reach his talent?

  • Comment removed

  • what's the second song he plays?

  • @lukehuels I think it's the same.

  • ''That's about all I know I guess,'' lol

  • At 0:58 when he looks up his clearly thinking "Hey God , i bet you can't play this!''

  • he's*************

  • Jason and Shawn are both very amazing and innovative guitarists but sound completely different

  • What's the second part he plays, cus it's not mozarts 25th

  • awesome, no distortion

  • Is there any tabs for this anywhere?

  • I have a powertab of this that I found online awhile back. Check 911tabs.

  • @EpiphoneSH4 dude i didnt find it..

  • @guitarhunter94 It's titled Mozart's 25th Symphony.

  • 0:35 is featured on the movie Amadeus, and there is another one of Mozart's pieces in that movie which sounds exactly as the end of Serrana's arpeggio section. But I don't know the name of those pieces :(

    Long live Becker.

  • Done. It's Mozart's symphony #25, the first movement.

  • No disrespect to Shawn Lane the guy was amazing, but this a Jason Becker video.

  • Awesome! I just learned how to play this, although the version I learned isn't nearly as hard as Jason's.

  • In my opinion it's stupid to compare two amazing guitarists.

  • both Shawn and Jason are guitar gods ,it's all personal preference, for example my favorite guitar player is Jason, but I have incredible amount of respect for Shawn and his music

  • You can still get a similar guitar from Carvin...don't think they will make the old pointy "Jackson"-style headstock anymore though or install Kahler bridges. Also- the scale-length on all newer Carvin neck-thru guitars is now 25 inches. Carvin makes great guitars.

  • hey i read his interview in GW the one with steve vie on the over and he says that in the near future they will make anouther guitar like his that u can buy

  • Steve Vai** not vie

  • wat did the carvin scale used to be?

  • @RootbeerInAFrostyMug

The scale Carvin guitars used to be 24.75 ("Gibson-scale") until 1993 when they changed to 25.00.

    Carvin makes great guitars.

  • oh ok. well that good then. 25 is better for me! =]

  • lmao did u see his face at 1:00 lol

  • Haha, that's the face of knowing that you're the best at the instrument xD

  • I love the little whammy dive he does at 0:16

  • I would love to have that guitar, Carvin is amazing.

  • i would love to have that skills, Jason was amazing

  • i'm not sure who has better technique shawn lane or jason becker

both are amazing thats for sure

  • probably becker

  • i dunno man

shawn lanes string skipping dimished shit is pretty damn intense

  • Becker is still more unique in many ways... He implemented so many techniques and tricks that guitarist still can't use correctly today.

Just think if he were still playing guitar today... He would be WAYY ahead of all other guitarists. And most likely be, by far, the best guitarist in the world.

  • and he would probably making "impossible to understand music"

    hahahahahahha

i love him, but with 18 years he was already playing the weirdest scales in the face of earth, if he would playing now, it would sound like an alien record, still amazinga, but alien iauhaiuahiuah

  • I would probably say Jason. Don't get me wrong Shawn Lane is very good but Jason is more diverse in my opinion.

  • That Jason rules not Shawn Lane..!!!!

    Jason is a genios guitarist..!!!!

  • @dannygmustaine, spot on!

  • @dannygmustaine Okay then lets compare these two and start and arguement. Great fuckin idea.

  • @bfctbone I was just stating an opinion, chill.

  • @dannygmustaine

In terms of composing I wouldn't hesitate to put Becker above Lane in almost every compositional sense, but in terms of guitar playing I wouldn't hesitate to say that Shawn Lane destroys Jason Becker in every way (minus arpeggios) when it comes to guitar playing. Jason Becker himself said that he would have liked to take lessons from Shawn Lane on one of his forums. Jason is the better composer, but Lane is the better guitarist. R.I.P. Shawn Lane. and long live Jason Becker!

  • @dannygmustaine ...What? I think you better read up, Shawn Lane did everything from Blues to Jazz to Fusion to Rock to Classical. If anything, Shawn was more diverse than Jason. Not to say Jason is bad, but he never was and he never will be better than the the most technically accomplished guitarist of all time, Shawn Lane.

  • @IxMAKExUxGOxLOL lol what the fuck are you talking about! get the perpetual burn album and then comeback to say the same bullshit is coming from your fingers he was in none way more diverse and im a great fan of shawn but you are underestimating jason's work btw Sawn is just one of the best but not the best......most technically accomplished.........i have so many names before him

  • @jovany69 I have heard Perpetual Burn and I've seen many videos of both Jason and Shawn, and I can easily say that Shawn Lane is the more diverse guitarist. Jason, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen and Shawn Lane are my biggest guitar inspirations, I would never ever say that any one of them is a shoddy guitar player, but from an objective point of view, Shawn is the more diverse guitarist.

Throw me a few names, and I'll tell you exactly in what way Shawn is superior to them.

  • @IxMAKExUxGOxLOL you are so confused man, diverse guitarist means diverse scales, diverse of feelings, diverse of everything and you're pretty much saying shawn lane used to have all of them..... you read what your saying??!.........you are not being objective and that's why nobody's listen what your saying sorry but that's the true

  • @jovany69 ...And you're saying that Shawn Lane did not use odd scales? I think you're the one up shit creek here. If you've seen any of Shawn Lane's lessons you'll see that very many of the runs he does are diminished, augmented and sometimes even exotic scales. And what the fuck do you mean by ''diverse feelings''? What feelings he portrays are subjective, every song is interpreted as every person sees fit.

Why do I care if nobody gives a shit about what I'm saying and how's that relevant?

  • @IxMAKExUxGOxLOL Shawn Lane was a great, great guitarist - but diverse ? Not too sure about that. He could certainly play different styles with bundles of feel and is in fact one of my favourite guitarists. However, for some really diverse guitarist, try Andy Timmons, Greg Howe and Guthrie Govan.

  • @proteoid *Facepalm* Have you ever heard any of Jonas Hellborgs albums? Or even Shawn Lane's own albums? Gray Pianos Flying? Get You Back? Esperanto? West Side Boogie? Piano Concertino? Sure, you could debate over whether was any good or not, but hey at least Shawn Lane was diverse, maybe not as much as Guthrie but still diverse.

My personal favorite is Paul Gilbert, but I have to realize that Shawn and Guthrie will forever be technically superior to him.

  • @IxMAKExUxGOxLOL Hi. 'Yes' to all your questions. And I have to stress - I'm a massive admirer of Lane, and I dont think anybody else will ever sound like Lane - he was totally unique, a guitar God. But in terms of actual diversity, listen to Andy Timmons, in particular the songs Carpe Diem, Farmer Sez, A Night to Remember. Regarding Greg Howe, he has records rock/jazz/fusion albums, but has also done a couple of neoclassical albums (which incidentally are amongst the best I've heard).

  • @proteoid I already know that Andy Timmons is a divirsified guitarist and is very underrated (hell, Danger Danger was probably one of the best Glam Metal bands of all time), but what the original point I was trying to make was that Shawn Lane was diverse, not the most diverse but still diverse, and you can't deny that he isn't (the man has experimented with Pakistan, Indian, Classical, Jazz, World and Fusion).

Introspection - The best Instrumental Jazz Rock album ever.

  • @proteoid

+1 for Greg Howe. Awesome guitarst and possibly the most underrated guitarist ever.

  • @IxMAKExUxGOxLOL Paul Gilbert, Greg Howe and of course Jason Becker don't get me wrong but does Shawn Lane composed with the eyes? i don't think so

Your impressed by him cause he were fat and de died, he is an amazing Shredder but you are making him god lol no point

  • @666BLOODANDIRON666

Oh, well in terms of technique you have to give that to Lane. I have seen people play Jason's pieces flawlessly, but there is still nobody in the world that can play everything that Lane did. Lanes crazy augmented stretches, mind-blowing alternate picking speed, ability to switch techniques so fast that you hardly even notice it, super tricky descending and ascending patterns, and the ability to pick at 18 nps with all of this is something no other guitarist has accomplished.

  • @Fluffypopcicle and yet most of his stuff is shit. this guy has it all.

  • @9CRonaldo8Kaka

Way to look like an idiot.

    watch?v=fDspKDEDVI0

    watch?v=ynj1pPCn28c

    watch?v=zhjNG-_1buM

You can't look musically intelligent while dissing on these pieces of music. Anybody that does is undeniably musically retarded.

  • @Fluffypopcicle Yeah, Shawn's great sorry I had seen different post lol, who do you like more btw.? Do you like Marty?

  • @9CRonaldo8Kaka

Between Shawn and Jason? That's tough, but I'm going with Jason. He uses a wider variety of instruments and has made more compositions and imo, better compositions as well. In terms of guitar work I would easily take Shawn over him though. I dig Marty, I don't see how you can like Shawn and Jason, but not like Marty. They're all absolutely phenomenal.

  • @9CRonaldo8Kaka

And for the record, thank you for not being a stuck up douche. Most people never admit "oh, I had just seen some bad posts, I was wrong about this guy." They usually just want to argue because they don't want to be wrong. But yeah I like Jason (as a composer) more than Shawn and I also really like Marty.

  • Damn, in seventh grade I had a 20 min project about Jason. I played the intro of this song (Wouldn't call it especially good because I was so nervous) and jewel + Paganini's 5th caprice.

Damn that was fun, talking about Jason and letting other people in my class see how good he was.

  • jason becker es mi idolo:D

  • wow!!! que hermosooooooo!!! amo esta sifonia.. suena genial!

  • which symphony is that?

  • 25th.

  • becker best guitar player in history..a real legend..nature has to take always the geniuoses...becker..hawkings

  • dude hendrix wishes he could do half the stuff jason can do blindfolded.

  • Jason is my favorite guitarist ever..... I have to do a report in health about a disease and i picked ALS so i could maybe bring in a Becker solo for the class to hear... but yea know teenagers these days like there rap.

  • @RockGuitarist8 So go in there and shred the fuck out of your guitar. They support horrible 'sounds' that somehow qualify as music, show them what it takes to actually dedicate yourself to an musical instrument

  • @RockGuitarist8 rap sucks huge painted clown dick.

  • @RockGuitarist8 Obviously you didn't pay attention in english class.

  • @RockGuitarist8 I did that same thing in college about music as an universal languaje, and the result was basically the same, people laughing at Paul Gilbert's Eudaimonia Overture and Jason's Rain :(

  • I think exactly the same thing Jimi and Jason are my favourite 2 guitarists ever

  • thats amazing. Jason Becker is god (2nd only to Jimi)
