  • You're God.

  • Big up from The Netherlands,

Very good tutorial, have been doing him quite some time now.

Just got my Bycicle deck delivered, a rider back and a master edition,

does anyone know wich one use use for cuts and/or flourishes ?

Better said, what is the difference between the cushion finish and the UV500 air flow finish ?

  • jus need a a better deck of cards for this one

  • Just thought i would let you know that you are the one that inspired me to start trying to flourish. As of now any of it is proving quite difficult.

  • i'm having some problems with this =/

  • can u do the eye cut?

  • I've actually never tried - kind of always left that sort of thing in Bone's domain. I probably should, though.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • thnx bro .. btw .. the virts only have 4 members right ?? or 3 ?

  • 3 members now, actually - just Huron, Daren and I.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • @kevhonline Where's Bone Ho? Is Bone Ho in thevirts now?

  • @TheMovingBones Bone is in Vietnam right now. As for being a member of the Virts, as of right now it's just Daren, Huron, and I, and it seems like it'll be staying that way for a long, long, time :)

  • @kevhonline Do you know Bone's real name? I want to know it :D

  • @TheMovingBones It's Ho Thanh Dung.

  • @kevhonline Thanksssss

  • @kevhonline btw, Hồ Thành Dũng? Hồ Thanh Dũng? Hồ Thanh Dung? Hồ Thành Dung? I don't know which is correct =)) sorry. Do you know?

  • @TheMovingBones Not by romanization, but I do know how to pronounce it out loud.

  • @TheMovingBones Whatttt ?? I wish I can hear you now T.T

  • Lol I wish I could follow along with that beautiful flourish. I swear to myself I will be able to master it someday. Nice work !

  • hey kevin ho .. what song you use for this vid ?

  • The track is 'Superman' by Five for Fighting.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • that was just AWESOME! tomorrow i dont think i have anything special to do.. so i will practise this and your other florish tutorials the whole day (:

  • hahas i would totally love to see you around singapore. XD ill try to spot you in magic gatherings (:

  • Sorry to say, that won't happen for a while - I'm actually in the US right now, will be there for the next 8 months actually :P

    -Kev, The Virts

  • @kevhonline LOL BASTARD COME BACK LA!!! we singaporeans want some inspiration la! :D

    nikh

ps i know jeremy he thinks bone's voice is funny haha

  • u think bicycle cards are good to use for this?

  • Because of the dynamics of this cut, it helps to have cards that are stiffer in stock so that they don't bend easily or fall apart when executing some of the splitting sequences.

So as long as your Bicycle cards aren't too soft, they should be decent enough to perform it if you haven't got anything else around.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Thanks! I've been doing this for about 6 years, and my current favorite flourish would have to be a Bad Habit / Fan / Aerial combo that I enjoy doing... perhaps you'll see it in a future video :)

    -Kev, The Virts

  • i watched the old version of ragnarok on vimeo .. just wondering where is ragnarok1? thanks :D

    -gabriel

  • Hey Gabriel,

Simply put, I lost the original file for the original Ragnarok 1, but it's no biggie. It pretty much starts the same way as |2agnarok, except it doesn't have the cool middle extension part... weak :P

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Comment removed

  • weee...

    ITS VIRTOUSO

    ^___^

  • this is a great tutorial...

  • lol my full speed is as fast as your slo mo

  • Whats that song

  • the song is superman..

the band is five for fighting

  • 0:35 - 0:43 impossible:(

  • its not impossible its the easyest part of the trck

  • yah it is :D I kept practicing and i got it:P

  • My Cards always break up and fall to the ground

  • Yeah, tends to happen when you first start with a new and unfamilar flourish. Give it some time & dedicated practice, and eventually you'll reach the point where the cards will stay in your hand throughout the flourish :D

    -Kev, The Virts

  • its hard to keep up for me because im lefty

  • Same! But I'll always do the opposite

  • nice tut man took me a while to get the cards on my finger but i learned it eventually 5/5 from me man.......... what song is that man?

  • superman-

    by five for fighting

  • Do you use Aladdin Smooth Finish cards, or the Air Cushion Finish?

  • Smooth Finish duh. XD the AC Aladdins are like really BAD bikes. Stay away, and use the old ones :)

  • Nice cut. It reminds me of Lethal by Daniel Madison because of the packet splitting.

  • I love the song reminds me of .......

  • Very magnificent flourish indeed, but takes time to learn. Nice one.

  • too fast.... the complicated part where the middle and the pinky grabs a card and thereafter creating 2 revolutions is too fast....

  • ...thereby proving that the hand is, in fact, quicker than the eye!

Just kidding. But yeah, play the video a few times over and you'll get it eventually - it's an unorthodox grip, so it does take some time to get used to it!

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Your over to shoulder view makes it easy for us to learn. Thanks

  • Not if your left handed

  • cant do it with small fingers =(

  • what cards are those

  • alladins

  • Man, I hate having small hands ='(

  • great tutorial with the volume off

  • For another great video with the volume off, check out "Virtuoso" on our channel, thevirts ;)

    -Kev, The Virts

  • yur the best kev :)

  • Hmmm...how much practise is behind this flourish? Looks to good to be easy, haha :)

    Cheers

  • At the time of this filming I've been doing the move for at least a year. Hard to get down, but once you do it's mostly just muscle memory.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • thats awesome im goin to get my cards now i hope i can learn it

    ps

thanks fr puttin the tut on!!!

    :)

  • No problem, dude - wish you all the best with the move.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • sweet u commented back!!!

    lol

  • brilliant! it looks great and is a LOT easier than it looks. (the ppl on the streets dont no that tho) =) thx kev!

ps how did u com up wit the name?

  • The name is based on a move by Strider Hiryu in Marvel vs. Capcom, where he had a whole bunch of things spinning around him.

Since this move gave off pretty much the same visual effect, I decided to give it that name.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • what is this song name.... cool?

  • The song is 'Superman' by the band Five for Fighting.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • r u the guy who revealed the asher twist?

    just asking.

  • Wait, what?

    -Kev, The Virts

  • cool style and great cut, gj Kev

  • if this is ragnarok 2, them were the hell is the original ragnarok?

  • Deep within the depths of internet hell, I'm hoping.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Yes, I saw the R1 and that's without the last jump xD

  • Actually, what you saw was just an early version of Ragnarok 2. The first Ragnarok is a lot... dumber.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Aps, sorry xD I saw only Ragnarok on the description of the video on ***eo.

  • Actually, both of them on Vimeo say Ragnarok 2 - the first is the conventional "|2agnarok", and the other is "Ragnarok 2 (old version)".

    -Kev, The Virts

  • How the hell do you pronounce that? lol.

    excellent move kev.

    J-H

  • 'Ragnarok 2'. The '|2' is 1337 spelling for R :P

    -Kev, The Virts

  • !!INCREIBLE!!

  • Amazing...

  • what cards do you use man?

  • this is Rummy Queen card deck..

    the cheapest deck ever!!

    lol only RM 1.50 » USD 0.375

  • It's actually a non air-cushioned Aladdin 1001 deck. The 'Rummy Queens' you're talking about are cheap rip-offs, hence their utter craptasticness.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • looks like you owned him :D ^o^

  • Rummy Queens suks!

  • yeah!!

    -Kev, The Virts

  • ic can u teach me which flourishes is the basic ones ?

  • ur reli good man wat country are u from ?

  • I was born in the US, but from 1995-2007 I lived in Singapore.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • 1995 is my birth year!!! (having something in common with any one of the virts is an accomplishment for me. :D

  • One of the greatest flourish I've ever seen!!

    5 stars!!!

  • ive gotten all of your tuts except corkscrew closer and this one XD

  • That's cool. I have some other tutorials available asides from the ones on my Youtube account. You can check them out here:

    vimeo[dot]com/album/10232

    -Kev, The Virts

  • thanks man!

    ill definitely check those out!

  • difficult! you're my idol man!Im still a noob at cardistry thought how long it take you to learn?

  • I've been flourishing since July of 2003, so come next month I'll have been doing this for five years alredy. Scary.

    -Kev, The Virts

  • Beautifuly performed, nice song, and great name for the trick...had a little trouble learning it, but very nice...5/5

  • really sweet cut.. not that hard and well tut.

  • got it and 5*

  • beautiful cut, great tutorial and song, 5/5!

Just one question: When you broke the 3rd packet, why don't you replace the thumb with the pinky, you would not have to drop the packet and leading the 2nd packet onto the 3rd looks smoother imo.

  • That's an interesting observation. This is just the way I do it, but feel free to play around and come up with your own variations for it - in your case especially, you'll probably come across some pretty neat additions and modifications :D

    -Kev, The Virts

  • thanks this tutorial =) great cut

  • i just cant get this

  • Me either I can't get,it.:(

  • I also can't get it. But Well Done!

  • You are not human.

  • that's freaking awesome. great song too..

  • im not gud enuff for this so yea

  • i'm confused -_______-

now i have somthing to learn for the weekend

  • you are good guy! =D

  • youre a good guy too!

youre a good guy too, kev! =)

  • too fast

  • Well, I know what im doing for the rest of the night

  • My vid have a bit of speed up for the pinnacle x_x

  • im dedicating my time to learn this....

    agghhhh!!! >=]

  • took me 1h 15mins learning and about 4 hours of practice to get it up to a decent speed.. really nice flourish

    thanks kev

  • For something so much more complicated than the normal Youtube tutorial, it is quite fast for certain amatuer flourishers.

    Like me.

  • Haha... don't worry about it bro, just keep practicing and eventually you'll get it. I had the added burden of having to create it :P

By the way, I saw that you live in California - which part? I'm currently in Singapore right now, but at the end of January I resume my studies in Orange County.

    -Kev

  • The part at around 0:45 is really confusing.

True, you did have to make it.

California...near the bay, I live in Berkeley.

I'm currently in Hong Kong for Winter Break.

  • Yes, this part is impossible...

  • This is one of those awesome, awesome moves that is completely underused and underrated.

Everyone, show some love for this move of Kevin's and learn it well!

    I love this flourish.

    - harapan. magic!

  • the move of the sec 0,45 is impossible..

  • wow, it took me about half an hour of watching this video but I love the cut... because of this, now I subscribed... this is an awesome cut 6/5

  • wow that was a great tutorial.... btw what kind of cards are those? bees? lol j/k with you.

  • Actually, we in the trade like to refer to these cards as "Xtreme Bees" - gives it an extra air of unneeded importance, you see.

The cards are non Air-cushioned Aladdin 1001 playing cards. Some people hate em, some people love em. I belong to group #2 :D

    -Kev

  • Kev, are Aladdin 1002 the same thing as the 1001's? do they fan well too?

  • Aladdin 1002's are gilded-edged, and aren't as good as the 1001's. They don't fan as well as the 1001's. In fact, they don't fan well at all... period.

    -Kev

  • jeeeej i master it:D:D:D

  • whoooooooow :D:D:D this cut is horny :D

  • very =D

  • whoa!

  • Dude that's too fast !

  • hey man, you gotta sell your technigues on penguin magic or somthing

please make a dvd or somthing

i would buy it and i think many people would

    too

  • I'm working on something, that's for sure. Although I doubt I'll be releasing it on PenguinMagic...

    -Kev

  • Put it on decknique. Jk, you'll prob release on theory11 right?

  • Don't think it'll be either, to tell the truth.

    -Kev

  • maybe just on your own website?

  • release on huron's site, just kidding.

  • wats the tittle of the song.. i 4gotten

  • "Superman" by Five for Fighting.

    -Kev

  • thx alot and the tutorial is great! And very cool! Thx 4 the tutorial too...

  • WOW KEV!!!! i can not stop watchin' this. i <3 it. Just know that i believe you're 50x better than the buck twins. ur style is amazing and your tutorials are always detailed and never rushed. UR THE BEST!!!

  • you obviously have the skills. I just wish you would put a little more time in your tuts. Maybe it's because I am lefthanded that it is hard to follow. Thank god the music is good because I have to watch your tuts like ten or fiftheen times. anyway, still a job well done. thx.

  • Haha... maybe I'll use some Linkin Park next time just to mess with y'all. Yeah, I admit that the tutorials can be a little rushed because at the time I was under the assumption that the people watching my videos would have at least some background knowledge of card handling. I'll keep your advice in mine for my next teaching projects - thanks for the feedback.

    -Kev

  • No this cut is awesome, and the tut is not rushed it's actually one of your best, corkscrew's tut is rushed (no offense, it's just you have to put the pieces together), this tutorial is pretty good, the cut is beautiful, and the song is very nice and soothing I am probably even going to download it, I like this cut as much as I like Bucks' cuts, to tell you the truth I would pay for this cut

  • 5 starts performance, cut, song, tut. I really enjoied the show keep it up :)

  • hey do you order your aladins off ebay?

  • No, the Aladdins I own are the ones I bought from shops in Singapore. You could probably do so, though :P

    -Kev

  • r they aladdin?

  • Yup, non air-cushioned Aladdin 1001's. You know, the REAL Aladdins.

    -Kev

  • Sick they only sell this in singapore ha!

i would love to have one deck i wanna buy one

  • dude i loved your first ragnarok but this one kills that one!!! very nice!!

  • Ya kev i Just got a deck and was wondering; do you powder them? Because I find them quite hard to handle.

  • I don't powder my cards, reason being that although it's a great aid to have if you want your cards to handle more smoothly, the downside is that it makes you dependent on the powder and then when you don't have it you're at a disadvantage.

I use non-powdered cards, so that way it makes me practice a little harder. As a result I suck a lot less, so that's cool :P

    -Kev

  • this song is usually put in a card turoial 5/5 liked it

  • easy... ¬¬

  • Same here... ¬¬

    -Kev

  • Were did you buy the cards?Good job keep it up i still dont understand how you do this with such ease i still cant do it.Keep it up

  • Thanks for the kind words dude, I really appreciate it.

The cards (Aladdin 1001's) are hard to find outside of Singapore, so a good way to get them is through one of the country's websites like Magicboutique[dot]sg

    Hope that helps,

    -Kev

  • thank you kev.

  • Wow. Great Cut dude. Thanx for the tut.

  • isn't ragnarok a terrible rpg game thats like 500mb?=P nice job =D

  • your terrible >.>

  • Lol sorry I dont own a extra 5gb space for Ragnarok =P

  • omg!!!

    you are very GOOD!!!

    Thanks for share...

  • may i know what song is it pls? btw.. u did a great job..

  • Thanks for the compliment, appreciate it :D

The song is 'Superman (It's Not Easy)' by the artist Five for Fighting, off of his album 'American Town'.

    Hope that helps.

    -Kev

  • wow i look up to you man...amazing handling...

  • beautiful cut!

  • i lov this move u got it down nice if u wanna c a move lik this wit variations chack out jigsaw on ma faves

  • i love how the viewing is reversed for easy learning. But for a lefty like me it's actually harder :P

  • never mind i found some on ebay got a red deck and a blue one

  • i love those cards where can i get some i cant find them any where

  • u have mad skilz, but i think im gonna stick to ur other tutorials, but maybe some day!!!! howd u come up withthese

id like an answer, is there like a position u always start with?

  • sweet move an tut dude :P ty

  • ughh, i always drop the cards where u take out the cards with your middle and pinky and when ur grasping the card under your ring finger and (if i get to it) the rotation of the 2 cards, it always falls out of my hands. any tips?

  • Excellent cut! Great tutorial! Tough to do...Thanks!!!

  • This isnt a false cut right? Cuz if it is im not doing something right lol

  • Small hands, and got most of this down, thanks

Btw where's the original ragnarok, cause i wanna see that

  • do u need big hands for this one?

  • You might have problems with it if your hands are VERY tiny, but other than that it's nothing that some good practice and pre-stretching can't handle ;)

    -Kev

  • very hard!
