  • i was close to times square in some ally way back when this happen pucking my ass off and some homless man in a wheel chair playing the NEW YEARS SONG on a trumpet good memories for Jan 1st 2008

  • I think that it's funny that this was Toshiba's first year, but it was called the Pontiac G8 Countdown, not the Toshiba Countdown. I keep playing the raw SFX file for the Times Square countdowns for this special edition countdown over and over again and I love the pontiac startup, rev, and drive away SFX, sounds much better if you have the actual file because you don't have echo or reverb.

  • i remember this one. i love the ticking lol

  • i love that ticking sound its awesome!

  • @elmexicanochilango The tickin' gonna be heard when we countdown into 2012.

  • December 31, 2007-January 1, 2008 Times square ball drop marks the 100th Anniversary celebration. It also marks the 7th year of playing Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" and the 3rd year of playing John Lennon's "Imagine".

  • For "Times Square on New Year's Eve 2008", the Monday, December 31, 2007 New Year's Eve leading into Tuesday, January 1, 2008, Georgina Bloomberg was introduced to Times square with the mayor. This was the third year they played "Imagine" in Times square after Dick Clark's stroke. This was the 100th anniversary of the ball drop in Times square. After "Imagine" song ended, the Pontiac sounded as the mayor pushed the button. After Ray charles' America, Louis Armstrong was played in New York.

  • Sad year for me because my dad passed away on 30th March 2008 :(

  • @SpeedyXtreme1 I'm sorry about that.

  • I find out various ways of getting to Times Square on New Year's Eve: Recording Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve in Grandpa's TV, bringing the marriott key to the marriott, wearing Earmuffs, getting the souveneir, wearing a suit and a tie, and so on.

  • I was in the Marriott Marquis hotel and ushered in 2010. Stay safe, I'm back to the marriott in 2011 to welcome it in.

  • they show the same people kissing each year

  • goodluck everyone who is gona be there in 2009-2010 and watch the ball going down and salabrate i wish i could be there but 2011 i will be there for sure

  • Sa doit être le bordel total! Il faut être motivé pour se rendre là, parce-que à la quantité de personnes, sortir de là doit prendre au moins 2 heures!

  • I will be there in December 31, 2009. I am going to the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times square to ring in 2010. I will be there for the 2009-2010 Times square ball drop!

  • Same here, where ya from? Nova Scotia, Canada here. I know...what's a Canadian doing in NYC on New Year's eve instead of drinking loads of beer and making snow angels, right? Lmao, joking...Doesn't snow until Easter where I live. But i'm going to this shit, see what it's all about..

  • That was very sweet. But what the 2002-2003 version of the ball drop?

  • this was my baby sisters first new year!

  • Can you post the Extended clean 2005-2006 Times square ball drop please?

  • That year was Georgina Bloomberg's first New Years Eve in Times square!

  • Georgina Bloomberg loves Mayor Bloomberg at 1:38

  • the start of the song, right at the very end, at around 9.40, is over the rainbow, by a guy called Israel Kamakawiwoʻole. his version was used in the 100th episode of scrubs once.

  • yep! Thank you so much. You know how it it when you think of a name and don't get it. Thanks a lot.
