I graduated from Wellesley, MA High School with Chuck and went to Leland Powers School of Radio, TV, and Theatre with him. In high school he would give weekend weather reports for the last class of the day. He was a friend so very long ago.
wow...amazing....I wish Kentucky, Dixie Alley (Where I live), and Siginifigant Tornado Alley (Oklahoma, Northern Texas, Nebraska, Eastern Colorado, Iowa, South Dakota, Eastern Wyoming, and Southwestern Minnesota) had more New England and New York English Speaking People like Chuck Taylor and Archie Bunker rather than Southern Speaking people like Hank Hill, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Jr., and many others....
I remember when I was a kid my dad and I would listen to 84 WHAS for the weather forecast. I remember one of the first snows of the year once when he broke in saying "Snow Snow Snow." Just tonight I saw it snowing in Lexington and called my dad to say it. First snow every year, one of the memories of my childhood, I never met this gentleman, but he will always be remembered in our family.
Yes and the computer vice mis-pronounces half of the cities names. Ridiculous. Back then we had LIVE LOCAL people around here on WHAS 840AM radio and Channel 11 tv. Now you are on your own. Thanks so much for the posting of these clips. I have lived here all of my 38 years and these bring back many memories. I can actually remember where I was when these storms rolled though as I worked 3rd shift at the time.
Brings back good memories of growing up in Louisville. Chuck Taylor was one of the best in L'ville. Keep posting man, this is my number one bookmark right now.
I believe it was from cancer considering he lost a lot of weight and looked terrible on the last. He was off the air a lot to be for he died back 97 or 98. Whas did a tribute for him on the Whas-11 50th Anniversary special back in 2000
