My father was one of the original founders of The Pop Shoppe. After they sold the stores to VentureTech sales fell off. They lost the original idea of selling pop (soda) directly from the factory floor to reduce costs. Had they stuck to their original strengths, they might have survived. Recycling in 1970? I guess they were ahead of their time. After my dad sold his shares, he started 'Soda Pop City' in Atlanta but he quit when he thought he was having a coronary from trying to fight Coca Cola.
Okay, I think I've got this figured out. The Pop Shoppe was an export from Canada (where we call soft drinks "pop"). Here, they're trying to operate in a "soda" territory. So they call it "soda", and try to claim that "Pop" is the old man who runs the place.
Youtube is amazing, or more the good people that post this stuff. This looks and sounds like Buffalo. That woman in the blazor I think was on either one of the news casts or commercials for Tops Friendly Markets.
I miss this place...the beer store for kids!!!

I remember a 1979 radio jingle for the Pop Shoppe that went:
"Casey is my name, soft drinks is my game...
It's a better way to buy (The Pop Shoppe) soft drinks."
