As someone who is on neither side of the situation. I can safely say that the "Fighting Game" community is strictly Capcom-based.
Everyone says MK9 is casual. I doubt Persona 4 Ultimate will be as high acclaim. It's always the Capcom games. I enjoy EVO and other Tournys and wish I could play like them. But saying you're gonna "Fuck 'em up" (Gootecks) or fighting another competitor (Noel Brown vs Smooth Viper) shows how mature this scene is.
