Arthas represents the culmination of so much of Warcraft lore... the destruction of the Sunwell, the exile of Orcs from Draenor (since Ner'zhul was turned into the Lich King right around that time), the awakening of Yogg Saron's wrath, the fall of Lordaeron and the old Alliance... so much was wrapped around the story of the Lich King, and Blizzard will be hard put to match what they've already created and destroyed.
@valiantvyse I wish I played through the whole xpac at end-game, unfortunately I only got to 80 when ICC came out... I loved WotLK so much, Cata has been fun at times, but nothing will compare to Lich King. D:

And, from how things are going, it seems to me like Sylvanas is going to be dethroned and killed soon too; kind of sad for me as my favorite RP character is enthralled(haha, get it?) with her.

Arthas eradicated the last shard of goodness killing matthias (but yes, for some reasons was unable of destroy it totally, just cut off his heart) and nothing of good remanied...the only thing remained was the darkest side of arthas, now freed by any kind of humanity...
It had been many years since I had met Arthas in WC3. I saw the tragedy unfold. I knew i would have to take him down. 7 years later we were at the gates and marching on his citadel. I just remember the night when we killed Arthas...I later laid in bed thinking...mission accomplished. =)
And then, just like that...WoW lost all meaning to me. Sure, I did the heroic mode for funsies, but that kill...wrapped up the part of Warcraft I was attached to. It was a good time to move on anyways.

Blizz is hinting at more Frostmourne mischiefs. If they do a thing with that blade it better be done in a way equal to if not better than what Arthas created for us all. He was my favorite lore character of all time.
I suggested that at the end seen where Arthas is lying their dying and his father comes to comfort him...instead he resurrects Arthas; and is transformed into Arthas the Grand Crusader and Frostmorne becomes The Liberator.

With arthus WE wanted to be the ones to kill him and free him of his curse. And the Emotion felt real in the end cutscene, Now blizzard is just getting rid of the dragon aspects. I really think they over did it this expansion and patch. I really hope MoP is a better Game.

Arthas was a very important person in the lore. BUT, you are all forgetting deathwings lore. He was once Neltharion The earth warder. he has come out of hiding to destroy azeroth for the old gods. I miss all those good times, back in Warcraft 3. I would spend my time playing the campaign all day and eager to follow up on the next adventure of Arthas, Jaina, and Thrall. Man I miss those days. Then I got into WoW and WotLK got me so hooked on the lore and everything. I was sad when Arthas died, and I think he was the best villain of the Warcraft franchise. Back then Warcraft and World of Warcraft still had a real story. A real enemy. Not just a single enemy but an army lead by a demi-god. That damn dragon is not nearly as epic and its story is not nearly as deep as Arthas Menethil's. In WotLK you felt like really fighting an almost immortal KING (even though the raids were easier than ever before). Catclysm has the better gameplay. But the atmosphere isnt nearly the same. At least not yet.
Everyone who hasn't played Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne really misses out on a great story. The concept of World of Warcraft was basically built around the Warcraft III and Arthas storyline, more or less.
I played Warcraft 2,from there,from the demons and orcs and the Silver Hand & Uther as later Arthases mentor.After countless hours of playing W3 I wached not only the development of the game,but the life of a young prince battling evil,giving hes soul and body,and then becomg what he hated the most.HE was the embodyment of all that I loved in this game.I hope he comes back as a frigin Angel...

Arthas Menethil was just a puppet manipulated by the Lich King and the relics that he possesed. It was his will to do good that clouded his judgement and twisted his mind. But even though the true Lich King survived, and the scourges' invasion probably will continue, Arthas' death was not in vein.

Idiotic. Arthas wasnt that much of an importance, just a pawn, to be honest.. Still: His character was awesome. Yet I prefer Deathwings more -alot-, I like how he thinks he can f*ck sh*t up, yet blindly follows as the Old Gods use him to piss around with Azeroth for the time being. Seen the cinematic? He is badass. Better than Illi or Arthas.. Its just that the WoW Game Engine limits his epicness in game rather than the cinematic. Herp.

Arthas was a very important person in the lore. BUT, you are all forgetting deathwings lore. He was once Neltharion The earth warder. he has come out of hiding to destroy azeroth for the old gods. He is not as much of a bad guy like arthas or illidan strictly because he is a prophet for the old gods. NOT a main leader as it may seem.

I miss all those good times, back in Warcraft 3. I would spend my time playing the campaign all day and eager to follow up on the next adventure of Arthas, Jaina, and Thrall. Man I miss those days. Then I got into WoW and WotLK got me so hooked on the lore and everything. I was sad when Arthas died, and I think he was the best villain of the Warcraft franchise. I'm also gonna miss Illidan, and Kael. This my friend, is where wow truly died. This was the last of a great franchise.

Last year everyone was saying that the Lich King was stupid and Illidan kicked ass, trust me, when we're fighting god knows what in god knows where in a few years everyone will LOVE Deathwing.

Back then Warcraft and World of Warcraft still had a real story. A real enemy. Not just a single enemy but an army lead by a demi-god. That damn dragon is not nearly as epic and its story is not nearly as deep as Arthas Menethil's. In WotLK you felt like really fighting an almost immortal KING (even though the raids were easier than ever before). Catclysm has the better gameplay. But the atmosphere isnt nearly the same. At least not yet.

Everyone who hasn't played Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne really misses out on a great story. The concept of World of Warcraft was basically built around the Warcraft III and Arthas storyline, more or less.

I played Warcraft 2,from there,from the demons and orcs and the Silver Hand & Uther as later Arthases mentor.After countless hours of playing W3 I wached not only the development of the game,but the life of a young prince battling evil,giving hes soul and body,and then becomg what he hated the most.HE was the embodyment of all that I loved in this game.I hope he comes back as a frigin Angel...

Arthas Menethil was just a puppet manipulated by the Lich King and the relics that he possesed. It was his will to do good that clouded his judgement and twisted his mind. But even though the true Lich King survived, and the scourges' invasion probably will continue, Arthas' death was not in vein.

@WateryIce54321 So true mate! ive been playing since release (still love the game) and ppl say EVERY single day: "wow is dead..." and yet it grows and grows. for every 1k it looses 2k new players sign up.
The game is GOOD, and blizzard does a hell of a job managing it.
