It may be "super unhistorical" that the French attack you when you are trying to invade Poland,.But remember they declared war on Germany when the Germans invaded Poland,.They were just too scared to attack Germany,.But you probrably dont have the "threat" correct or the French spies found you were attackable,.could be a variety of reasons,.all which could have "historically" happened had the Germans not prepared properly at the beginning

I think that this game is made to be played with germany or URSS. I really enjoy it when I do.

Although I think that is impossible win the war with germany without cheats, so many strategic bombers in west and lack of supplies in the east, need to be in the caucasian earlys 44'th otehrwise war is lost because of petrol. Sea is owned by Royal navy and the army.

@McTitties1000 Playing as Nazi Germany is illiegal I think. That why most games that have play as Germany in WW2 remove the Nazi flag and use some other flag. Battlefield 1942, Codename panzers and Company of heroes all did the same.

in hoi2 you got a progress bar that showed you how the battles waged.

it shows how many % of the victory you already have - having 100 is of course the mission ;)

@draugtroll It's lagging because they don't want you to play past 42.. it is politically incorrect to make a game and let the players conquer the earth with axis.

You will always experience lag in the later parts of this game. But enjoy the lag-free beginning.

Allready bought it. And sad to say you're right. I downloaded the latest patch and it's running slow, but not as bad as i thought it would. However i'm still playing hoi 2 because it simply feels more complete. Although nuking barely has any effect and that kinda sucks:(

@ParadoxianLP There are supply lines, green and red, green indicating that u're sending out supply and red indicating that u are shipping resources back. The reason y there are no lines is cause u dont have any islands or units abroad that needs to be supplied by ship. And, just so u know, this game is awesome.

I think they had a good idea with this game, but it is really difficult to play.

The nail in the coffin for this game is the lack of a tutorial. This is compounded by the fact that the manual doesn't tell you how to DO anything. For example, the manual tells you WHAT strategic redeployment is, but doesn't tell you HOW to strategically redeploy a division.

The Swastika is an ancient symbol, I know...ironically it was a peace symbol.

The Nazi swastika is different in two ways...first of all it is backwards to the original one, the cross is "turning" to the right rather than the left.

Secondly, it is now a universal symbol of evil.

I understand that in Germany it is illegal...so have a German version of this game which excludes the symbol!! I personally believe that historical accuracy is more important than this kind of censorship!!

In comparison to HOI2, HOI3 is more realistic but also way more complicated. However it's not bad at all, and the latest patches and future mods are promising...

BTW, I never use the animated figures, to me they seem a bit cartoonish. I prefer the NATO icons.
