  • i never put earphone when i run..but slow techno music is better, the loud rock music is not good at all for your brain while you are runing, your brain will over heat/disturbed

  • hi there!, i didn't understand about the feet but it doesnt seem like the proper way, may i suggest erasing this video and doin another

  • This is a very annoying video as he contradicts himself many times. Go to "Evolution running" for the correct technique. They also sell a 45 minute DVD which is exceptional.

  • heel striker! lol

  • @scarface2231 I suggest you go to see a sports doctor.

  • heelstrike gave me runners knee..

  • Just so you know man your feet around 2:11 are crossing over the center lime some which is the same waste of energy as cross over your arms. just saying

  • This would have been a good tutorial had you not messed up on the footing technique and listed crummy music. I wish you mentioned not looking down, which is another mistake many runners (especially beginners) make and fail to realize the potential strain and imbalance it puts on the entire body. Perhaps you may want to update your video...youseemingly have all of the proper credentials, but this video really isn't doing you any justice.

  • @yellams3 thanks for the feedback, and yes, that is a good point about runners looking down... i never thought of it :P (music is your opinion, but typically dance music is good to run to for obvious reasons). However im not sure if i will upload another video or not... im now at university and i dont have too much spare time (to edit the video). We will see :P thanks again for your constructive criticism rather than raging :)

  • @beatmachine123 No prob... I'm so glad that my tone wasn't misinterpreted, because I know some people on here can be real jerks! Good luck with your studies! Off to the gym for a run ;)

  • @yellams3 and the funny thing is that guy running next to you is landing on his heels to lol

  • he says heel first but he's clearly doing toe first

and he says "toe first' at 2:11

    Stop the hate guys lol

  • @lemondrop4545 why thank you kind sir :)

  • @lemondrop4545 youtube=hate

  • What are your credentials? None? I thought so.

I like how you land on your heels as you then display a balloon saying NO! Land on your toes! Really? Land on your toes? Why aren't you landing on your toes?

    Another quack.

People, if you are looking for help with your running form, try running barefoot on grass. Your body will show you how to move. Or, consider an actual expert in the field of running and biomechanics.

  • @thebbk credentials? i have a degree in running! what about you?

  • I am confused: is it touching mid-foot or heel? Pros say mid-foot ....

  • @raficsulejmanovic tbh, im confused myself.... it all depends on what YOU believe in... barefoot running (forefoot landing) or the more 'contemporary' running method (heel strike).... I have tried barefoot running and in my opinion.... i am no longer using that 'method'.

  • LOL next time make up your mind before making the video my friend. I land on my balls, yes on the balls of my feet lol.

  • @FourSeasonRunner i made the video with inexperienced runners in mind. Only after many people heavily criticizing my comments did i add the conflicting annotations :P

  • @beatmachine123 you should land on your toes first not your heels

  • nice editing!

  • heel strike is retarded - plus those runners that you and everyone else wears are bad for your running style. Before the invention of the runner in 1970 shin splints and injuries on your feet from running did not exist. Barefoot running all the way!

  • Try Acid 8000 by Fat Boy Slim also. It's an excellent motivational song.

  • Music is too much to focus

  • Great video, thank you.

I don't know why, but I tend to hold my ankles tense when I run, which soon leads to aching calf muscles. Any ideas on how to beat this nasty habit, please?

  • I like hardstyle a lot too

  • That music is really annoying. Us ADD people can't concentrate on both your voice and the screeching music, which is too loud. I'd love to hear what you have to say, though. We can hear music 929384029384 other places. Obviously, I'm the minority, as the comments right before mine are about the music.

  • This helped... Thanks mate.

  • Thank you friend, I found a remix

Ricki-lee - U Wanna Little Of This (Milk Inc. Remix)

  • @totalbest0 No probs! Glad I could help! :D

  • @beatmachine123

wow, you are instructing in old school, Nike style running. You might do well to get a book called "Born to Run" by Chris McDougall. "Heel strike first" guarantees hip, knee, shin and ankle disabilites. I've been a competitive distance runner my whole life, 1990 and 1991 cross country champion. I'm 52 and still competing. Save your student's legs and feet! Learn to run properly!

  • please say name artist first music

  • @totalbest0 A little of this - Rikki Lee (but it's some kind of remix, idk which one)

  • Thanks - found the guidance on arm and shoulders positioning helpful

  • @NoChikenStrips @KingTairun

:) I'm glad you like it

  • cool

  • this music makes me wanna run!

  • this is ridiculous. the only thing that he said that was worth listening to is that brooks is a good running shoe

  • Confusing regarding foot strike. you say heel first and also landing on toes. Some of that music is truly awful. The only way it would help me running is if i could run away from it.

  • lol, well, at least you now know what you want to stay away from. I love listening to hardstyle & tecktonik, but their just my preferences. Listen to whatever the hell you want to. I'm not stopping you. They were just "suggestions"!

  • I did! it's in the annotations. I'm too busy atm with studies & training to make another video. Sorry.

  • LoLlolololololol !!!

  • Comment removed

  • You probably need to update ur video :) About foot work.

  • 1:04 : "...aim to touch your heels touching the grounds first." WHAT!? Have you been paying attention on the latest running technique developments? Touching heel first is an inefficient technique and is the cause for a lot of injuries for a lot of people. Reason? Landing on the heel during running is unnatural: mankind has evolved running barefoot for millions of years. Try landing on your heel when running barefoot and you'll see (or rather feel) my point.

  • @freddijkstra Midfoot strike is the best technique...

  • i like this video, i agree with your tips and found it really usefull, thanx for post it, should post more!

  • great video! thanks for the music recommendations. those songs are very energetic, I'm going to put them on my running playlist.

  • no probs! I love listening to hardstyle fill stop, but it also pumps you up for running!

  • Well check out one of my latest races which I will be uploading shortly. In this video, I ran (& won) the 1500m (I also won the 800m), and the second race is my brothers 800m which he wins (he also ran and won the 1500m & the 3000m). I am the guy with the blonde hair, the black tights, and a red & blue singlet. Watch that and then tell me what you think of my style! (also compared to others in the race).

P.S. My brother is wearing the same top as me, & he has brown hair.

  • P.S.S. The comp in the video that I am uploading is the CHS, thats state level. All of NSW, Australia! Also, that was the third time in a row that I have won the 800m there, nobody else has done that!

  • That form looks like a good way to get injured. Don't listen to this crock.

  • @bustedbojangles , no need to insult, everybody is different, and everybody runs with different shoes, on different surfaces and distances, we based our trainings in all of that situations..

  • whats with the gay music? :P jk thanx alot

  • Ps. there is a shitload of propaganda about the virtues of ball striking (the POSE method) who blame heel striking for every problem in society...you should take it with a grain of salt..

  • I slightly underpronate when i run so should i run on the balls of my feet or heel strike? at the moment i run heel strike but i heard of the pose method and am interested in what it is

  • really useful, tnx!

  • My pleasure! :D

  • Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • No worries!

  • Actually proper running technique has you landing on the balls of your feet - never on your heels.

In fact all the best runners land on the balls of their feet. Most amateur runners land with a heel strike which is why aprox. 80% them sustain injuries.

    Read up on it.

  • This is exactly what I was going to say , landing on the heels is really wrong...

  • Wrong, that is a myth. They way you should strike depends mostly on your speed. Slower -> heel strike, faster -> ball strike. At slower speeds heel striking is infact more efficient and no more injury prone than ball striking. And yes the top endurance runners land on the balls of their feet..because they run really really fast! I would not recommend it to the average runner..

This was a good vid btw.

  • So man, that is so wrong and def not a myth. All you have to do to prove it is run barefoot "slower" as you say and watch how fast you get injured!

The human body was not built for running shoes and heel striking. Read the research.

  • Hmmm. I seem to have raised a bit of an argument here.

    Here's the story.....

I am a national level and state champion runner for 800m. I always run on my toes.

As I am still in High School, we have the school, zone, regional, etc, cross country (and athletics) competitions.

For the benefit of my fellow peers (anyone in the school - including teachers), I offered cross country training to the whole school at the weekly assembly.

  • I recruited up to about 20 - 30 students to train after school (in the park right next to the school). Most of them had never run before, most of them enjoyed the training, and one of them is extremely motivated and has now learnt to train himself, and has been doing so for 6 months.

This was intended to be an instructional video for them, so that they might be able to become more efficient and happy runners.

  • Also, as none of them had ever run before, they all ran on their heels any way, so the info in my video was trying to help them.

Sorry if I made anyone angry, or if I mislead some people, or if the info in the video was wrong.

    I appreciate the feedback! :)

  • Look, ive read a lot o research about this. Go and run a marathon with no shoes and see how well it goes. Most modern shoes (probably 98% of the ones you find in your average shop) are designed for heel striking (very good damping). Ball striking with them just isnt as efficient as heel striking at slower speeds. But hey if ball striking seems like the natural way for you to run then by all means go for it. Just dont say heel striking is wrong, because it isnt.

  • Try running a marathon barefoot and heel strike - see how well that goes for you. Humans aren't built for shoes we were built to run barefoot.

Ball striking uses the arch as it is intended - as a natural spring. Heel striking negates it completely. All the tribes that run long disntances on the plains do not heel strike.

    'nuff said.

  • [1] You say human somehow were "built" to run barefoot and not with shoes. I say so what? Running with shoes is way superior to running barefoot. They enhance the human running ability.

[2] The dampening in the shoes pretty much negates the negative aspects of heel striking.

[3] As I said earlier, heel striking is fine at slower speeds as long as you do it right. It has clear benefits over ball striking.

  • I agree!

Click on the "show" button to see what else he said.

Some retard marked it as spam.

  • Haile Gebrselassie heel strikes.

    'nuff said.

  • @joeyyowee no he doesnt

  • i think this is the most correct answer, that actually i apply for my running...

  • Yes, I agree with you.

    Thanks :D

  • Oh and one more thing. Heel striking is no way more injury prone than ball striking (unless youre reeeaally fat!!) . Ball striking just transfers the stress to other parts of the body and cause different types of injuries. Infact with todays shoes you could even say that heel striking is safer..
