The overall worth of the company will drop as well & the stock in that company, so it will be a 2 fold loss to the investor. McCain wants to keep it at %15 & hopes to lower it to %7. The lower the Capital Gains Tax the more capital, which in turn will actually bring more to the Government Coffers.

Your missing the entire point of his plan. He wants to 'close the loopholes and end the tax breaks' for people making the big bucks. They won't be paying more, only their fair share. The middle class is out of it. 1st cooking the books is tax evasion, punishable by fines and prison time, 2nd no profitable company is going to lay off workers, if they arent profitable they can declare a loss and pay no tax. The gov is working now on punishing US companies that outsource and escape paying tax.
I've seen politicians close loopholes before. They always open new ones in the process. The only way to close all the tax loopholes is a fixed tax rate for everyone. Companies that currently outsource do so for a few reasons. Three big reasons come to mind: 1. The cost of labor is cheaper overseas 2. There are few environmental regulations overseas. 3. There are tax breaks for going overseas (property tax break for one). In order to bring back jobs, Obama will have to consider these things.

4. Most importantly it would ELIMINATE special interest loopholes and tax breaks and crack down on international tax havens.

I've lrady told you that the tax paid is not proportional due to tax cuts and tax rebates. I make a good living and have no problem losing out on some deductions if that indeed helps out those who have less and are deservant of that help through appropriate social programs, etc. Me or someone wealthier than I are NOT going to stop spending if we lose on our special tax cuts. Fannie and freddie were already GSE and not totally private to begin with. Those companies allow everyone in this country to buy homes and better themselves and therefore are necessary.
What IS 'socialistic' is when that company takes that 85 billion and leverages it to purchase securities backed by bad mortgages, the company fails and is bailed out by public dollars.
Bear Sterns and AIG are the main example, but Fannie and Freddie were publically traded, for profit entities. Not much differnt than your ordinary private corporation.

Obamas INCREASE of the Capital Gains Tax from %15 to %20 will affect many Americans who have invested in the Stock Market for their retirement. The overall worth of the company will drop as well & the stock in that company, so it will be a 2 fold loss to the investor. McCain wants to keep it at %15 & hopes to lower it to %7. The lower the Capital Gains Tax the more capital, which in turn will actually bring more to the Government Coffers.

Funny thing is, McCain used to rail against the pandering to the religious right, and hated Jerry Falwell in particular. During this campaign he gave a seminar at Falwell's university. Doesn't that figure? I used to kind of like 2000 and prior McCain, still wouldn't vote him over Obama, but I'd be less nervous about him getting the presidency if he were the same man. In case you haven't heard, the world supply of oil is dwindling and we don't have a whole lot ourselves. So, the plan is to either come up with alternative sources or continue to try and take over other countries for their oil supplies. Keep in mind that war takes oil. War takes human lives and burning oil products causes pollution.

#2 Oil companies don't currently have the equipment needed to drill anymore than now.
#3 we don't have the refining capability to increase production, even IF we could produce enough oil out of the ground.

Your missing the entire point of his plan. He wants to 'close the loopholes and end the tax breaks' for people making the big bucks. They won't be paying more, only their fair share. The middle class is out of it. 1st cooking the books is tax evasion, punishable by fines and prison time, 2nd no profitable company is going to lay off workers, if they arent profitable they can declare a loss and pay no tax. The gov is working now on punishing US companies that outsource and escape paying tax.

I've seen politicians close loopholes before. They always open new ones in the process. The only way to close all the tax loopholes is a fixed tax rate for everyone. Companies that currently outsource do so for a few reasons. Three big reasons come to mind: 1. The cost of labor is cheaper overseas 2. There are few environmental regulations overseas. 3. There are tax breaks for going overseas (property tax break for one). In order to bring back jobs, Obama will have to consider these things.

They aren't 'higher taxes'. It is a removal of TAX BREAKS for those making over $250k a year. Anyone under this amount will not only pay no more taxes than they do now, but they will see a rebate, as Obama has in mind for working families. How do you fiure the Dems got us into this situation? It was already in place when they recovered some portion of Majority. Remember, the Dems don't have a FULL majority yet in Congress. But they will! :)

Top 1% may earn 500,00/year (low end) The same amount of gas and oil for them is less than 1% of their income. WHO NEEDS THE TAX BREAK MORE? Be honest McCain! Gwally31 is right on. When you take in to account that it's those who make the least that are the most affected by cost of living increases. Personally, my wife and wouldn't be challenged if we were paying a 10% 20% increase on food or gas. But, for those that make under $50k a year and have families, that increase is unbearable, they need help. When you live in a 1st world country, you expect that nobody should be without. Bottom line is, Obama cares, McCain doesn't.

Actually I know a great deal about economics. I also know that at the end of the month a person who has zero dollars because all they make is expended on necessities is a lot worse off and needs a tax break more than someone that makes a lot more per month. The 2600 (approx) Fed tax hurt them more than a person making 500K. But hey they might not be able to have a House in the Outer Banks if they pay more. Some just worry about what they will eat. Sorry burden is different!

I see, so let's just continue to allow loopholes that Corporations use to pay unfairly low taxes and in some instances NO TAXES. Very wealthy folks have tax lawyers that utilize these same types of loopholes to hide their money and again, pay ridiculously LOW taxes.

3.Honor Americas seniors by eliminating income taxes for those making less than $50,000 per year.
4. Most importantly it would ELIMINATE special interest loopholes and tax breaks and crack down on international tax havens.

I've lrady told you that the tax paid is not proportional due to tax cuts and tax rebates. I make a good living and have no problem losing out on some deductions if that indeed helps out those who have less and are deservant of that help through appropriate social programs, etc. Me or someone wealthier than I are NOT going to stop spending if we lose on our special tax cuts.
