I once inadvertently stood on General Burgoyne's grave. He can be found in front of the snack bar at Westminster Cathedral. No mention of his rank or who he was on the flagstone floor. Just his first and last name, plus his date of birth and death. I realize he surrendered an entire British Army at Saratoga to a bunch of farmers, but did they have to bury him in the snack bar? The coffee that is accidently spilled on him may be hot, but that is cold.
I read the play after failing to get the old movie from our local library. It's a fun read & beautifully written ... and very unbiased. Swindon is the one hanging people, Burgoyne hates creating martyrs & is against the hangings. What's interesting is that Burgoyne knows he's surrounded by the rebels yet keeps quite composed. Olivier was great in the movie. Oh yes, and that's not Mr Anderson ...

Ian Richardson (Burgoyne) is one of my favorite actors, but Lawrence Olivia nailed it better in the first movie.
