@mjjcng8958 People just don't get it. They are glamorizing, drugs, prostitution, theft and murder by singing about the acts. I do not believe it is necessary to point out that money is the root of all evil. Jesus already said this when he threw down the money changers in the temple 2000 years ago.
@bej144 Have you read the lyrics? The song is not about socialism but about how some people can because so in love with money that they they do evil: rob, cheat, and prostitute themselves to get it. There's difference.
@zachmcfatridge His name is Kurtis Teel and he was their bass player on live shows, not on session recordings. Sadly, he passed away sometime in the '80's (he was from my hometown in VA and we dated briefly.....). He also played with Rita Coolidge, among others that I can't remember.....RIP, Kurtis! Miss you.....
@zachmcfatridge He lived in Basset/Martinsville area during high school years; can't remember if he was born there. I remember he went to Berklee College of Music. He also played bass on "The Three Degrees" song "When Will I See You Again"..... He played with The Reggie Knighton Band, which I'm not familiar with...And I think he was with Rita Coolidge's band right before he died at age 32. Where in VA are you from? I left Martinsville in '76 and moved to Norfolk to attend college.
The Mighty O'Jays. Eddie, Walter, and William. RIP, William.
