I always get good sized plastic containers like this one and I'm glad to know that it's okay! I always give $10 for shipping instead of $7, just in case.
I love this video, it is so sweet. I did a shoe box and mine was about as big as yours. I was worried that it would be too big, but I didn't want to add only cheap little stuff. I wanted to give some nice things to the child.

You can never make a box too big :)
Some kid in Nicaragua got a box almost twice the size as mine!
I just love the looks on the children's faces when they go through their boxes :)
