Probably the best interpretation of this song I've seen on youtube. You have a very wonderful, even tone, rich vibrato and I like how you paid attention to the swells in the music and took care with the interpretation of the words. I hope you're still singing and improving your craft-- the opera world could use a soprano like you.

Excellent performance in my opinion...It just makes me sad that there aren't really any good performances of this piece on YouTube by male singers.....I'm getting ready to start work on this and was hoping to hear some examples, but I guess I'll have to listen to girls.....Although, with girls like this one it's not all that bad!!
....... ..such a beautiful element of 20th century composing and shouldn't ever get lost. Especially in such a breathtaking piece as this! Really good job though, you have a lovely
You sounded so lovely in this piece, lovely tones and great colour. Barber didn't actually give a time signature for this piece, which means you can do so much creatively with the tempo. I think it should be sung slower, especially when you are singing in dissonence with the piano, eg "the passing of day from night"...to sing the word night on top of the piano accompaniment......
I think you are lovely and isn't it a shame that some who jealous of your talent have to make comments that have nothing to do with your gift. Just cowardly and shameful.
@DivasraplentyIAMNOT wow, that's really rude. You have no idea what that does to people when you say stuff like that. And she isn't even close to being fat.
You have a really full, mature, even tone. The piano part sounded funky to me in the beginning. I would have liked more dynamics as well this all felt forte. I think in the second section you also did some of the rythums incorrectly. I also felt because you were pushing sometimes you're vibrato went a little wide and the pitch went a little off.
Lovely voice, but her diction leaves something to be desired. Vowels are rather flat and Midwestern, detracting from the dignity and poignance of this most moving song.
eh...it's a crappy quality video. hence, no plosive sounds are going to really carry. also, i'm not sure i follow your meaning by "midwestern". what words are you referring to?
@ania1026 people from the midwest have a very specific sound. some say its flat and nasely. Words are spoken in the back of your throat. Such as wisCANsin. I have been told this by many of my cousins when they come to visit
How does chosing a different dress help her audience hear her voice. Using her diaphram more and utilizing a higher pallet to increase resonance, might help. The dress, has nothing do do with it.
Hey! I'm singing this song tomorrow at solo/ensemble. I havn't had tons of time to practice w/ an accompianist so listening to your timing with the piano really helps. Good job by the way!
great job. your voice is very clear and your vowels are excellent. the crescendo into the F was very well done. :) I'm working on this piece myself right now.
thanks! i am from philly, but i currently attend penn state university as a music major. i have been singing classically for about..hmmm.....8 years(but only 3 have been with private voice study).
awesome job! I'm doing this song as well!

Beautiful voice....but if you want your audience to hear your voice choose a different dress. Lovely for a New Years bash but not to sing in.

I think what she means is that the dress is distracting.

beautifully done... but were you nervous, because you didn't hold all of the notes, particularly the last one, for their full values.
such a lovely voice!
