That was pretty good! I love french horn, and have only just got a reasonable sound. You were really great for your age, but just as my opinion as a fellow hornist, you could try to play expressivo (expressively) to improve the quality of your sound. Keep up the fantastic work! :)
pretty good for how young he is. tell him to go into marching band when he's in highschool. ill be a sophmore next year and marching band was honestly the best thing i did all year. i cant wait till it starts up again this summer. if this guy really likes music he'll love it. keep up with it.
Good good. Some breathing exercises will help with the lower notes and some weight training will help build the heart and lungs which will make better use of your Oxygen use. :)
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this. I'm sure this video is quite old now and you've learned how phrasing works, but if you're this good with an antsy sister in the background and a video camera in your face, I encourage you to stay with it. Great career opportunities involved with playing the horn. And even just for fun as beautiful as this instrument sounds. Best of luck to you my friend. Regards to your sis as well.
I can't believe people are commenting and saying critical things to this boy. He is excellent for his age, and that's what we all sounded like starting out. Who cares if he's flat? He's 10! Most 10-year-olds can't even make a sound come out of a french horn, much less play lord of the rings.
French horn is one the hardest instrument to keep in tune, and he's doing great considering his choice of instrument.
I know this is a late comment, but keep it up kid :)
i started palying when i was eight and by the age of 10 i was quite a bit better, sorry, i do practice quite a lot though, i am 12 and am taking grade 5/6 soon! wish me luck!
hey keep up the good work i started the end of last year and i got good but dont stick you hand to far in the bell or it will mess up the pitch trust me but the french horn is a good chose and if you keep up yyou might become one of the best in the world
hey good jog dont forget to shove that hand in the bell and dont forget to hear your pitch while you are playing it so you can hit the pitches with out fracking
very nice i dont know the song haha but i've been playing for three years and all i can tell you is to keep your tongue at the bottom of your mouth but reallly awesome
i do agree that you need to tune your instrament before you practicing otherwise you get the wrong pitches stuck in your head for your performance. also one thing my band director is also pushing into our heads is to hold a note full value. on quarter notes you need to hol them till where they end you cant change them into eighth notes. other than that nice job
Nice work...As a fellow fench hornest I would say that you need to tuned your instument before hand and clean it out.... and one last thing work on your tone,
Other then that you are realy good and should keep it up
Not bad kid! You have a good tone in there. I play trumpet, horn, baritone, and some tuba. Just keep it up! with alot of practice and the right tutor you can do great!
dude your pretty good! im 12 (around your age i think) and i can play that song too. Actually i think we have the same songbook. I'll try and post me playing soon. Btw the reason you are flat is that your you are sticking your hand to far in the bell. KEEP ON PLAYIN!
Very smooth and musical, especially for your age. A more consistant and warm tone will simply come with experience... Keep up the great work. The counting and rhythm really impressed me. :)
wow pretty bad but ok for your age. im twelve play for the Ga symphonic band go horn! work on your embouchure and blow enough air for the high notes. DONt puff those cheeks.
i am a freshmen french horn player, keep it up and try and get a less harsh sound play as if you were delecatley carresing the horn. don't put anypressure on your ambessure and let all the work come from you lip
ya thats some pretty good playing!! With your emboshure try not to puff out your cheeks. Emphasis the cresendos and decrsendos. If there any accents bring them out but it sounds like a legato peice all the way through so there probably aren't any.
keep it up cuz band is sooo worth it in high school soooo much fun and in high school the bands are always looking for french horn players with talent like you keep it up!!!!1
It's pretty good. work on your note accuracy the dynamics and play in tune
