So what's the smallest tank you could keep 1 adult in comfortably? And what percentage of the tank should be water? How about 6 inches of water with floating plants and little logs?
@CherubHorse I can't tell you the size of tank exactly becuase I honestly don't remember, but we tended to do the tank up half way and have a Turtle Dock attached to one side for land, with plants etc in there too.
@jack26707 No they like going onto land sometimes, but then again ours hardly went onto land. They definitely need it though. Just has to be moist so it doesn't dry out their skin.
@jack26707 I would say no as the bigger the better but I'm sure they would be fine in there. I'm not an expert either so I would still research it yourself too online.
Hey i just got 2 fire belly newts and the pet shop recommended the tadpole/frog pellets but they don't seem to be eating it, what can i feed them? a quick answer would help so i can feed them today lol thanks
@AirsoftSniper727 Sorry for the late reply, we just feed them frozen blood worms, put them in warmish water and then drain them and put them into their tank, they love them lol
@TremorLady666 The alpine one (greyish one) in this video did that, we found him in the morning and he was all dried up and covered in fluff. So sad. There was a small hole that he escaped from. It's so sad when stuff like that happens. :(
This is a weird question, but can I put cardboard in my newts tank? Anyway 5 stars, really cool! And if you have some time please come check out my vids, I'm new and need some views...
@dirtrider233 I would if it wasn't illegal, the newts I'm raising are smooth newts but when my fire belly's get old enough to breed i'l inform you :D ( but if you interested in smooth newts i can give you them for free which isn't illegal ) :)
@Newtzrus wow I never knew it was illegal, interesting but why is this? And i might just take you up on that offer with the smooth newts, ill have to have a think and get some tanks sorted if its goes to plan. I'm really interested in fire belly's though, there awsome little guys and I wanted them in my room so I can watch them swim about. I'm trying to find breeders instead of getting wild caught ones from pet shops. but i know theres a lot of work in raising them so not many people bother.
@dirtrider233 Lol I mean its illegal to sell the smooth newts but not fire bellies so yeah :)
it's a weird law you can give em away but not sell which is fair enough I suppose, but yeah when my fire bellies are old enough to start breeding I'l inform you :)
What are you feeding them? I am going to get 4-6 of these after I save up a little bit.

Could I get 1-3 adult firebelly newts in a 10-15 gallon aquarium with 3-5 gold barbs?

i just got two of them one like 3 days ago and 1 today and i was wondering is it normal for them not to eat or get in the water at first
adrinkinproblm 2 months ago
@adrinkinproblm Yeah they get used to it after a while and then will start eating again hopefully. Don't worry about it.
