Whitney's simple, just catch a nidoran, male or a female (but females Rivarly-ability helps!) and level up it a lil bit. It learns Double Kick @ level 12 if I remember correctly. Or just bulk up some x-items when Whitney sends out Clefairy. Then you'll sweep Miltank. Not that hard Ash-bear ;))))

@That1GuyMC That's actually easier if you ask me. Since you have to catch the first encounter of each route, you're likely bound to get something able to resist Miltank's moves. I'm speaking from experience, too.

It just dawned on me while watching this battle that the TM you get upon exiting the Ilex Forest is probably for this gym. Taunt would have kept her from using Attract and spamming Milk Drink all throughout the match!

It seems like all the normal type gym leaders seem to be the hardest, for the level that your pkmn are at the time. Like in Sapphire, Norman's Vigoroth & Slaking were almost unstopable without Blaziken/Breloom. In White, the catchable pokemon are useless against the OVERPOWERED Herdier. I find that all lv25 help/ Arbok's glare and Charmeleon's dragon rage kick Miltanks bitchy freaking ass!!!

@klinsblue Problem is that there isn't too many options for a fighting type this early on in the game. If I remember right there's Machop which I believe you have to get in a trade, and Heracross from a headbutt tree being able to learn a fighting type move... and that's about it.
