Got this disc when it came out. Had a roomate who at the time was in his late 50's. He'd been through a lot. When this song came on, he was clearly affected by it. He was anticipating the lyrics in chorus, and was singing along with it by "bury me in the sand". By the second verse, he was crying his eyes out.
One of their worst? This album is head and shoulders batter than any pre Jordan Rudess album, and is one of DT's overall strongest albums cover to cover. While it may not be as heavy as Train of Thought, the pacing and track order make it one of DT's best albums. It also has, in my opinion, the best closing track on any DT album.
Better than Images and Words? Better than Awake? What?? Really have you heard those albums? I'd even consider their first album better than this one. Falling into infinity to me is one big "Meh"
And no I stopped liking dream theater after Scenes from a Memory so don't accuse me of not liking their slower songs.
Falling into Infinity is much more sophisticated than Day and Dream, Images, and Awake. Those three albums were general Prog Metal, whereas Falling is more in the realm of prog rock. The songs have more depth on Falling and the experience as an album is a much stronger one. And why would you stop at Metropolis Part 2 that's when DT got really good. The whole structure of Octavarium and it's concept are better than Awake and anything before it.
@shadowseal22 I know that's just your opinion, no problem and all, but anybody who'd say the new albums are better than "Awake", "Images & Words" and "Scenes", I must consider mentally insane -sorry :D
@wurstgitarre if you like DT's slower stuff, then everything before scenes from a memory pt2 is the best. i love everything about dream theater, but this song, Space Dye Vest and Change of Seasons are probably my top favorites, then SDOIT ofcourse
definetly the most underrated album of DT...
