I have a t maxx 3.3 but I wanna try out a savage or savage xl but brand new there like 500-600$ that's a good dent. (I got my true t maxx 3.3 for 200$ new from craigslist)
i let my brother take my savage 25 with a k4.6 engine 3 speed, his first time ever playing with a rc he was jumping it and having fun we had plenty of crashes but nothing happened. i have a titanium custom roll cage and every once in a while 2 joints snap but nothing a little jb weldcoudlnt fix
savage x is THE best, i have one, only thing i changed on it was the spur gear, only because the plastic stock one was warn away by the brutal powerful engine :D
Large BL electrics are just gettin off the ground, really, and although the Flux and E-RevoBL are both brilliant performers with the MMM/2200kv, and there are other motor systems that can be used just as effectively, the ESCs still face some power-handling issues, and the larger trucks are still very hard on batteries. As time goes on, all that will improve.
Nitro isn't going to go away, period. There's too many people out there that enjoy wrenching for nitro to die.
All these arguments about whether electric or nitro is better, or faster, or w/e, are just stupid. It's purely a matter of preference. Brushless electric has more off-the-line power, yes. Large nitros usually have a higher top speed because of gearing. Both are almost impossible to use for crawling because they simply aren't suitable. Brushed electrics are better for that because they don't "cog" at zero RPM like brushless, and they don't need to build RPMs for power like nitro.
tmaxx may be faster and dose wheelies but after a few wheelies the rear diff breaks my friend had a tmaxx and his diff broke and my savage was still going lol also his tranny fell apart lmao
Compared to the Revo or Maxx, absolutely. HPI uses much stronger plastics, and the Twin Vertical Plate design of the chassis means that the chassis is strongest along the direction where the most stress is placed on the truck during hard landings. It's pretty simple, the chassis and bulkheads on the Savage make a box shape. Put two chairs close together and prop a cardboard box and a cardboard sheet so that only the ends are supported. Now, place a book on both. Which folds up and drops?
Actually, DuraTraxx did a couple of pretty durable RCs with a TVP-like chassis, and Redcats and a few others copied the design. None of them measure up to the Savage, but that's mainly because of the cheap composition anddesign of the plastic parts, rather than a weakness in the TVP design.
Also, FB has a big 1/5 scaler that uses a TVP design that is pretty tough.

well ur right about the braking part but the gas shifting forward doesn't make the nose go down...the tires act as gyros just like it does in a motocross bike when you push the brake, bike/car goes dives forward and when you give it gas, bike/car tips back
ok i have never had a gas/nitro rc car before i have always wanted one. im saving up for one. but i was just wondering, when u go off jumps and stuff like that, how does it always, or almost always land on its wheels? just because of the weight? or do u have to some how control to make it land on the wheels?

kids and adults stopped to watch..noone was watching the e-maxx, they didnt even realize it was driving, they were all awe inspired by the pure sound and brutality of a nitro engine.

I own a Savage X SS, for fuelie, but in a couple of weeks the e-Revo comes out and I will have one of those to go, with a side of driving in the rain, snow, mud puddles and every other time I won't risk my fuelie Savage.

x 4.6, it has good power to weight ratio. the x is not as powerful. In my opinion the xl is too bulky.

lol well ive got a conclusion.....me and my mates took our rc`s out one a hpi trophy with nitro engine and one an e-maxx..
kids and adults stopped to watch..noone was watching the e-maxx, they didnt even realize it was driving, they were all awe inspired by the pure sound and brutality of a nitro engine.
For bashers, if you dont have a nitro rc, im afraid you will lose bragging rights at the car park of open field.

nitro is great once you rip the engine out and install a electric motor and esc , i think they call it a conversion , not long now before they stop selling these relics . thank god .:-)

electric racing is pretty cool 4 begginers wanting too learn to get a grip on the racing experience..nitro is just a way for people to get a faster more hands on experience of raceing and now that they have brushless motors for electric they can go just as fast but yes i do agree nitro is cooler and more realistic

part of the reason the electric rock crawlers are more popular is because the nitro has to much power and just spins on the rock face and the weight of the fuel,heat shrink and ect ect ect

The e-Maxx is water proofed.
I own a Savage X SS, for fuelie, but in a couple of weeks the e-Revo comes out and I will have one of those to go, with a side of driving in the rain, snow, mud puddles and every other time I won't risk my fuelie Savage.

it may suprise you but i own 3 nitro models rush evo , hpi savage , and a giga crusher ,so i think i know what iam talking about unlike you . all of these models are slow high maintainance ,compaird to my brushles electric models .nitro is old school now and it is only a matter of time before they are obsolete. the new developments in electric such as lipo batteries and brushles motors .are years ahead ,of nitro . sorry but sell those nitro relics before its to late .

matty iam sorry but i love large scale i custom build my own models they are 1/6 but are electric brushles .nitro was ok in its time ,it no longer rules the roost . i did love nitro at one time hence why i have 3 nitro models .but they are hard work tuneing and parts starting problems ,none of that with these new electric models ,take it from me you will be running electric because you will have no choice if you whant to compete

i run my brushless mini t at my track,there is a lot of eletric cars there but nitro is still going,there is no reason for it not to,a new offroad track has been built at my local track for mainly nitro powered large scale cars,honestly i dont know why you think nitro is dying cos it isnt,have you ever thought that eletric is just growing

el engine is ofcorse better but and use them my self but for ppl like me that have petrol running though there blood there is nothing that can replace the sound og a SCREAMING nito engine or 2stroke. same as hearing a hemmi v8 on a car. the sound can be half of the funn of it.

I have thought about it, that's why I only purchase Nitro cars. There's a difference between a drill and a car... a BIG difference, so dont use them as an example. Electric cars are fast, but most people dont like fast, they want power, most nitro cars have 2 + horse power. HORSE POWER!
And fixing, is the fun of it, it also gives you excuse to upgrade.
And no, quiet isnt better, makes the car sound week.

no you havent thought about it otherwise you would not purchase those out of date relics ,the only difference between the drill and the car is the gearbox they boath run on the same princeple ..i have nitro so you could not give me a reason to upgrade .r/c is supose to be fun i dont see any fun in stripping down nitro cars every week and tuneing every other day .hores power is tourqe same thing in a electric motor and a electric motor has far more tourqe than a nitro car

tie a small rope on the back bumper of an electric monster truck with a fairly good motor (e-maxx), tie the other side of the rope on the back bumper of a nitro truck with a .18 or a little lower size engine (t-maxx) if you pull the throttle of both of the trucks at the same time guess which one is going to pull the other around while it's wheels are spinning and slipping helplessly (the t-maxx) its all because of horspower my friend!!!!!! electric doesnt stand a chance!
