Tatar is a name created for this republic by the soviets. Tatarstan n Chuvashia should combine into one republic and call it by its rightful name, Volga Bulgaria, becaus that is THE SOCIETY that birthed their nation, culture n religion. The tatar-mongol invaders destroyed volga bulgarian state, they are invaders, and you should NEVER EVER name yourself after those who caused you harm. That would be like jews starting calling Israel for Germany instead...

- Dude, Bulgars were Proto-Turks and older than these you mention. Besides, they were not Muslims and Ottoman opressors. Ottomans were not real TÜrks, who also killed many ¨real Türks in Anatolia. - I don´t remember saying this. I was probably refering to somebody else. What I mean in this case is that I knew that Volga Bulgars became Muslims in the 9th century. Tatars came later (more than 300 years) with the Golden Horde to Volga Bolgary and converted to Islam. I just pointed out that Bulgars were Shamans - they were not initially Muslims.
