this is a lot different then the copy I had ??? I remember Matt Hensley skating to Shoot to thrill by AC/DC with a lot more picnic table scenes... and none of the stuff at the end ...
These were the days when you didnt have to do everything with a 360 flip or switch thrown in. Kids you dont need to go to skate camp or crap like that just get stoked and go skate. Helmet pads etc not needed, you dont get any good if you dont hurt some times.
@Sleepingplanet1 We were lucky to be a part of this era when skateboarding was still evolving. There's nowhere it can really go now, everything's been done already.
.. a part in a couple of days and call it done, no not these days, videos have to take a minimum of 2 to 3 years to come out bc every trick has to be precise and clean or else little tight pants Dakota wont buy his or hers pro board..fuck that shit, like i said money and technology and "skate fame" came at the ultimate price and thats something we will never get back, those times and just pure fun...unless that is a company comes along and just breaks all the rules...trust me, im on it.
@mokuni hmm yeah sure fella.Skating in this film was done in a run in both Street and Vert.Best runs clean or not so clean made it into the video.I never have seen precise RUNS.Every skater now is a sellout anyway!!!Even the oldskool skaters soldout!!!
@01mogwai well thats what i mean, everything has to be "bolts" or it cant make it onto the final edit, ive seen clips here on youtube, just random skateboarding, pros and ams alike, and they do the most awesome trick, and the first thing comes out of their mouths," god that was ugly, we cant use that" im like WTF!!!!!!!!!
this video, along with the other highly influential late 80's and early 90's street videos prove how fucking shitty skateboarding is now, yeah there are more skateboarder own companies now and there is good money and of course the skateboarding is cleaner and has been taken to new levels but it came with a hefty fucking price tag....fun. aaalllot of pros are just not having now these days, and its because where skateboarding has gone, the freedom is gone, the freedom to go out and just film
my youth....never could do the front foot impossible..tricks on here that people still don't do...shackle me not. hokus pokus.soldiers story. speed freaks. streets on fire blinds video days.. i am british but these vids fuelled my dreams and i still skate like i live in the 90's...
I remember that 1 footed cab 360 Matt Hensley did over the picnic bench like it was yesterday - it changed my perception not only of skating but of whats possible in life if you push yourself... Matt H is still my hero and that was 20 years ago!
I wore this VHS out TWICE! Matt Hensley Was my GOD all through the 90's. H-Street was the only deck I would even consider riding in those days. Sure I had my share of Santa Cruz decks, but H-Street fit my feet better!
Man I wish the Hensley Kingsize deck would get remade again...
Mike T left to start Plan B and brought everyone that was a name to the World Industries family tree. Sheffey, Carroll, Way to Plan B. Koston to 101, Brian Lotti to Blind etc.
Yep- that was about the year when skating really started getting super tech. Board styles changing and the year of the 360 kick flip. U were the man if u could stick one! lol
I think 1990/91 would be the most interesting years for skateboarding. Boards were just on the horizon of changing, it was just before the tiny wheel era. You had skaters hitting rails and flipping but the old school vibe was still there. There's a certain mystique about this era that makes me love these videos.
this is how skating shud be. the looks surfy and instantaneous.....today skating is cool but looks to mechanical and on point...which is how it had to turn out like that really...i wish it was 1990 living the dream !!!!
this video is gold ,i almost start crying, is like going to the strip club ,you can watch but you can't touch(skateboard like that). That was the good old days.
oldschool hard to belive that was 20 years ago almost.seemed like yesterday i miss skateboarding,to bad my knees and ankles cant hack it no more.and my balance sucks.
Indeed it does - and back then H-street videos were always worth the wait.

ahhhh, THE GOOD OLD DAYS, How much would you give to beable to go back to those days. I would give EVERYTHING i have and ever will have to go live those days again, Man were those the times or what, i was living in Sarasota FLorida at the time, all that mattered was were the trucks nice and lose and it was not wet out.
@homeimports sarasota fl?!! who is this?? that's where i'm from too and those good old days were the sheeeet!! i'd definitely go back and relive those times. nothing like a nice loong lipslide! brett
Hell yeah. Sub Society, Op Ivy, and H-Street. It didn't get any better back then. Everyone had their influences but everyone loved Hensley, wallet chains, cut off cargos, give me those days forever.
OMG someone finally put this up thank you!!!!!! I love this vid watched it everyday. Matt Hensley was a god to me back then.I think I was in 11th grade. Ollie over a picknick table to nose manual(not his best feat by any means but still insane).Oh and it introduced me to OP Ivy!!!
yeah i guess it has hahaha guess i always searched matt hensley instead of ....... well no when i bought this video it was known as h street bootleg and i think that was what i always searched for so yeah i'm retarded
The tricks they did back then were so much more creative (the Almost team nowadays is an exception to the rest of the skateboard scene) and they had so much more board control (360° followed by a powerslide, wheelie, then a wallride, right after that a boardslide to 50/50...).
Word to that. Skating used to be about the complexity of the run as a whole. It wasn't so much about the height of the trick or the location. It was about making it look good, ya know?
For real. This is right before the onslaught of the new shape. At the end of '91, the new shape was coming like an avalanche, gaining popularity like crazy n shit. I remember the transition came outta nowhere. Next thing I knew, wheels were tiny as f**k and decks looked like popsicles.
question-who's the first tune by? this video makes me feel very old, but i've never been more stoked than the first time i watched this, and seeing it now brings back a host of top memories(from a long, long time ago!!)
Anyone who didn't skate should say nothing... If you didn't flip 6 stairs you haven't a clue.

That bench Matt did the 360 ollie over was awesome. I used to skate there. I got there a little late to see it live.

When decks still had shape and rail guards, damn...I'm old
blacksunrise 4 years ago 7
For real. This is right before the onslaught of the new shape. At the end of '91, the new shape was coming like an avalanche, gaining popularity like crazy n shit. I remember the transition came outta nowhere. Next thing I knew, wheels were tiny as f**k and decks looked like popsicles.
