  • Pointless?

  • The unit to store 10 bikes occupies 5.5 m2

  • See more and look for Vertical Bicycle Parking

  • I really appreciate having full fenders, but it appears this design would mash the fenders.

  • Wrong, see the photos on web site

  • I do see the chain now attached to the pedal. Even though the video is only a minute (and he dug in his pocket for a good bit) it is a rather cumbersome device. Looks like it takes up more space on the ground too. You wouldn't be able secure many bikes in a small area. Living in the city, there is already a shortage of racks and it's always first come.

  • @Budhisatta It might be first come first serve, but there are hundreds of other things you can affix your bike to. Trees, lamp posts, metal railing, poles, fences, and really any other metal loop will do. In a pinch, you can even lock the bike to itself. I must agree that this invention is useless.

  • Certainly can, but I prefer to keep paintwork on my bike

  • The unit to store 10 bikes occupies 5.5 m2

  • I honestly think that is one of the most stupid inventions for bike security i have ever seen. Looks like the wheels are the only thing securing the bike to the device and what use is that?

  • He added a chain.

  • Take a better look and think

  • Pros:

1 - Cheap to make (probably)

    2 - Easy to use

3 - More safe than a regular chained up bicycle.

    Cons:

    1 - Slow

    2 - Done manually

    3 - Requires strength

Personally I'd say that I'd use the classic way; bike chain. This method of bicycle storage takes too long and may be a pain while in a rush.

  • cons sound a lot like what it takes to ride the bike, as well.

But this seems so... useless... I see nothing wrong with the horizontal frame that is used now.

  • Except that cyclist call them wheel benders

  • 1. It takes only 10 to 12 seconds to fit the bike on this rack.

    2. Done manually? Bicycles are also powered manually!

    3. It does not require strength. Lifting weight is only 5 to 7 kilograms.

  • @29yuli1951

    1. As I said, slow. Those horizontal racks we use today are faster, and automated bicycle storages are faster.

    2. Exactly. We are in an advanced age. We may still use bicycles cos you can't get any simpler than that, and if something simple can be done faster, heck, why not use it instead of complicating things and make it much worse? If we wanna make something more complicated, at least make it much better.

    3. You say that like its as light as paper. We're not talking about bags.

  • Well it is probably true but you also can not park truck in lock up garage and nobody complains

  • @29yuli1951 Stop replying to comments posted months ago, omg. Also, parking trucks by the side of the road (if its for a few minutes) is a win-win situation for everybody. Plus, not every country has lock up garage, which is specifically the reason why there isn't a huge uproar over this.
