And the Germans stole the idea for airplanes from the Wright Brothers and stole the idea for solid fueled rockets from the ancient Chinese. By the way...the so called German Engineers who supposedly worked on the atomic bomb were actually refugees who escaped from Nazi terrorism. Oh..and don't forget how the Germans stole the liquid fueled rocket technology from Robert Goddard. Stupid twits!
@ccryder1149 Don't forget, that german physicists like Heisenberg and so on in Germany sabotaged the atomic bomb while german physicists abroad developed the bomb.. by the way: The German didn´t steal the plans. The principles were freely published. The American took many scientists and much more material.
German Engineers worked in the USA on the atomic bomb with the condition they do not use them against germany.
And IF they used the bomb against germany, a lot of european countrys AND allied soldiers would have gotten much radiation, and probably hole Europe would hate the usa.
@Tarten46 LOL Fucking moron! You dirty yanks are the ones who stole our patents and kidnapped thousands of german scientists after WWII! 70 years ago Germany was the most advanced country in the world and you are fucking thieves!
@adfhaf No the ruskies kidnapped german scientist. that just convinced the others to come to america and put us on the moon. sure von braun abused jews and fags but he's really a nice guy in real life. germany most advanced? evidentally not enough. thanks for running off einstien and the other scientist b4 the war. they came in real handy you racist kraut. you fucks like to start shit but you allways get your ass handed to you. thats why my granddad left your shithole country for the colonys.
@rebellis13 but the first american flying wing plane was the XB-35. that program startet in 1938!!!! Andit had its first flight 1942. After that the XB-49 flew in the late 1940s.
is is a bad collection made of bad examples..you cant compare a v1 with a modern cruise missle...if it would work i could say becasue of the wright brothers first motorized flight that everything that is now flying int hte air was copied from their idea...
@Nebukadnezarthe2nd The enemies of Germany stole documents counting only tonnes and the engineer, too. So it is not far-fetched to call the Soviet and US technology copies of German technology.
Wow, that puts the Skunkworks in a whole new light as less than innovative. Whenever they needed fresh ideas, they just went to the file cabinets of captured German ideas.
@cobrachoppergirl - it might if it were true. Why would northrop "steal" the concept of a failed fighter program to build a bomber with when they had a previously successful bomber already?
And the B2 started out as a computor generated design, it wasn't designed by a person
They lost the dam war (which they started). Of course the Allies are going to take the war spoils. What the hell do you think the point of war is? For thousands of years wars have ended with the winner taking stuff from the loser. If Germany didn't want to lose their patents they shouldn't have gone to war in the first place.
Your nuclear weapons and most other important military technologies including the saturn V rocket (flight to the moon) are based on German scientifical achievements and stolen german patents based on german science and inventions. Without these USA and Russia would never have become superpowers, simple as that.
Of course your governments try downplay these facts and you never learn this at school.
@Lintflas No, "downplay" is the wrong word. Atomic weapons came into existence in the 1940's because of the efforts of a great many scientists from a dozen different countries, The German scientists who came to America had the benefit of US and UK research and most importantly billions in funding. People try to claim it as "German" technology, when there was no technology at all until an American program started it. Yes, of course, some of the early hypothesis were from German citizens...
@OPE08 - then you say "most other important military technologies", I assume you cannot name a single one? And the Saturn V was not a military technology, but lets look at it shall we?
Von Braun claimed that he would have never been successful if not for the successes and help he received from the American Goddard. And it was Goddards gimboled engines that powered the V2 and the Saturn V.
It took von braun 12 years of American-backed research to repeat the V2, how german was that?
@OPE08 - Now if you were smart you would have talked about german, nazi-era submarine technologies, which America most certainly did benefit from, but thast really about it.
As far as becoming a superpower, you'll not get any credit for that either, it was industrial and financial might that did that, not the geman tanks we never copied, or the planes we never copied, or the rifles, or the cannon. And that started in the 1930's and 40's, while Germany was too busy destroying itself to help.
You're talking complete rubbish and actually your comments are downplay at its finest. Without a German von Braun and his german scientists who convinced Kennedy that it's possible to fly to the moon, you would NEVER have flown there, that's a fact.
Goddard was a great man and pioneer but von Brauns rockets were technologically lightyears away from his work.
By the way, rocket propulsion is a german invention as well, so Goddards work is based on German scientifical basics.
@Lintflas - Congreve and Hale would be amazed to hear that their rockets were invented by someone else, so would the Chinese...
And you continue to reference the Saturn projects which were years after the Mercury project, and as I said, it took more than a decades work to find success in Mercury. So the fact that Von Braun, using somebody elses engine designs, and taking over a decades work in america with a mostly american institution, makes it a "German" success?
In all seriousness, you really compare those little chinese sylvester rockets with a saturn V rocket?
Come on ... lol
Congreve and Hale did NOT invent rockets or rocket propulsion. There are many different types of rockets and just because it looks like a rocket doesn't mean it flys more than 100 feet straightforward, not to mention into space.
It were the Germans who shot the first rocket into space, and this was based on German scientifical work, as has been proven.
@Lintflas - again, you continue to mention the saturn V, a rocket completed nearly 20 YEARS after the end of WWII. And fail to address how a project begun and finalized in america by a man who had left Germany nearly 2 decades before was somehow "German"?
And the first successful flight of a liquid fueled rocket was Goddards, again, and American, who inspired the beginning of the German rocket clubs AFTER his success.
Its like saying the first car was the 55 T-bird...
Did I deny that Goddard inspired von Braun? No, I didn't, but as I already mentioned before, there's a BIG difference between Goddards first rockets and von Brauns rockets with different propulsion. Von Braun wasn't the only German scientist working at NASA, there were countless other ex-nazi scienstists as well.
Their work delivered the basics for the saturn V rocket, whether you like it or not.
@Lintflas - Here's some areas where you just mis-spoke. First off, Von Brauns rockets did not have "different propulsion", they had Goddards gimboled engines. Where they improved upon? Yes. Where they much bigger? Yes. But they were Goddards. Second, there were not "countless other ex-nazi's", there was a small cadre of von brauns men from Germany working with thousands of Americans for 20 years to build the Saturn. The saturn was as different from the V2 as the V2 was from Goddards
@Lintflas - As well, your problem is that you are stuck on "like it or not", it has nothing to do with what I like, it is simple facts and a comparison with how people and the world works.
Think of it this way, your whole premise is that America "stole" nazi-era patents and technology in order to succeed, so to "prove" it you claim all the credit for a huge list of "other" technologies without actually proving a single one. Your groundless theft of fair credit is okay because it "feels" right?
Of course it took lots of resources and money to finish the work, but there's absolutely NO doubt, it was all based on German scientifical knowledge. Germans were the first to know that it's possible to build a nuclear weapon and nuclear fission is a german invention (Otto Hahn).
Without German scientists no nuclear facilities or nuclear weapons, also many other advanced military technologies basic work and most of all no superpower status for Russia and USA, simple as that.
Patents lasted 15 - 18 years until an international agreement several years ago. They now last 20, IF the fees are paid. Once a patent runs out or the fees are not longer paid, it is freely available for anyone to use. That is what the patent system is about. All nations sieze the patents of enemy nations in time of war.
Further, very few inventions are very original, they are nearly always based on "prior art". After 20 years in the business, I know this.
This film is one of many examples of how the German nation has been robbed after the war I wonder if such a power as the U.S. or England, there were to have robbed today were it not for the German after the war not to mention Russia, who is even on the German aircraft, she painted her a star. You should now settle this state of all this

@CapitanoGUC Yes, death camps were just the next horrible step, and I still don't find the right words to explain what I felt when I visited Auschwitz and seen what happened in the name of my nation.
346.000 patents were stolen(number includes only patents), nothing pathetic in that. Nobody denies how important geman scientists ever were for the progress of people, those did in a few years as much, if not more, then the rest. It was only the german mind, that was able to go on fighting for YEARS, after we lost the war already the 3.23ptember 1939 hopelessly if it goes after statistic. Nobody talks about influence or inspiration, science is an intercultural dialogue, we are talking about law.
Its not anout that the scientist didnt complain. Its about that they where all nazi party members. Funny that when it comes to US intrests, politics doesnt seem to matter anymore...
Hardly "all", but yes, definately, some did have their personnel and war records altered or expunged in order to make then eligible for Paperclip. VonBraun was one of them, but I've yet to see any evidence that he was some evil Nazi, he joined the Party because you had to if you wanted to succeed. Paperclip wasn't bringing over death camp guards, it was recruiting little bald men who worked with slide rules and drafting boards.
I would wish that answer would come more frequently when it comes to germans in that era. No matter if scientists, soldiers, civilians and even some waffen ss members.
You cant say that we always get judge that nicely like you did in your comment...
@OPE08 von Braun personally commanded a Death Camp on Pennemünde. Development and production of german rockets killed far more people, than their actual use, nearly all of them forced labors. I wonder what more evidence you need to see that he was some evil Nazi. He joined the Party to secure his part of the spoils.
@BusterXXXL I won't defend the Nazi's for a second, but your comment is misleading. Von Braun was the head scientist, but he did not "personally command a death camp", there are specific reasons why we are careful about labelling concentration, work, and death camps specifically.
VonBraun was not the military Commander. As i said, some DID have their records altered or expunged. He was, as many have been in the past, fortunate in his usefulness post-war.
@BusterXXXL Your obviously an unintelligent troll throwing out gross distortions of truth and outright lies laden with emotion, in the hope that some-one "bites". Your not worthy of an intelligent debate. If Braun "personally commanded a death camp" as you suggest, why was he only a major (nominal SS rank) by the wars end????? In your eyes, ALL germans are likely to be big bad evil Nazi's including Hansel and Gretal in the dreaded Black forest. Your an imbecile.
@greenbananas1 I do and did spend a lot of times with vastly different germans, that are born 1927 an earlier. Hardly any of them had much quarrels about killing others or see them die, until the Wehrmacht ascended to its final nose-dive. ALL germans at the time were responsible for letting it drag on. Its still a big problem for those about to die. Once dementia sets in, they get panicked about jewish revenge.
@BusterXXXL I understand VERY well. Indeed, there is a huge difference between being anti-german and anti-nazi. You however don't make the distinction as evidence by your own statement "ALL Germans at the time were responsible". And then you roll that into a another stupid statement about dementia and "jewish revenge". Born 1927 or earlier? So the entire young modern Germany are enlightened innocents while the old are all guilty nazi's? Arschgeige!
@greenbananas1 Not enlightened, but obviously innocent for crimes, that happened before they grew up. And the older ones were responsible for their nation, and most of them dodged that reponsibility or partook in abusing it. Fick dich selber.
@BusterXXXL No, definitely not enlightened. And anyone like you is also IGNORANT through your willingness to sacrifice the entire german population born 1927 or before as nazis and adopt a holiier than thou "innocent" tag for anyone born after. How guilty were the german children born from 1910 through to 1927 of the implications of the treaty of versailles imposed upon them? Yet they suffered too the consequences. Indeed, I repeat for your ignorant benefit......Arschgeige!
@BusterXXXL A#seholes like you are in no position to judge those you don't know, or those who experience something you will never know. That you consign the entire German population born prior to 1927 to the "All guilty as Nazi's" generalisation demonstrates your lack of intellect as well as your complete ignorance of history. Why do you continue your pretence of being German? Why don't you just "come out of the closet" and admit to being an anti-german foreigner pretending? Arschgeige!
@BusterXXXL and ignorant cunts like you sure as hell won't be judging my parents and grandparents as Nazi's. Your a worse piece of shit than the "I hate all Gemans because their nazis" foreigners. Your the sort of shit who would have rolled over for the Russians in the late 1920's, and would have been fighting on the streets in your red shirt. German? Your a piece of shit who has no self respect for your family or your forfathers. Did your parents disown you or something? A hateful orphan? :)
@BusterXXXL and the irony of it (assuming you are German) is that similarly ignorant foreigners look at you as a German and still think your a nazi. :) Ignorant people like you, are unintelligent and like to generalise as it makes understanding easier. YOU are just as much a nazi today as your supposed for-fathers, in the eyes of ignorant, unintelligent foreign simpletons. They see you being German as a Nazi. :) How does it feel to be labeled a nazi my friend? A Nazi Arschgeige! :)
@greenbananas1 Its only ignorant foreigners who look at me and THINK I am a Nazi. Everyone who listens to your rants and insults knows for sure, that you ARE a Nazi. And with people like you around, all other germans have double the task, to prove that suckheads like you gladfully have no place any more in german society.
@BusterXXXL You typify the worst sort of Nazi. Gutless unprincipaled people like you would have rolled over when the Nazi's come to power. You would have hidden in society, and overcompensated in self fear by committing the very acts the nazi's wanted. Your fear and self interest would have made you an ideal Nazi though in your own deluded mind, you would have convinced yourself otherwise. And like a true coward, you would kick the defenceless when you have no fear of accountability. NAZI
@greenbananas1 would have, would have, would have. It did not even took an authoritarian regime to turn you into a Nazi, your own efforts to overcompensate for your lack of self-esteem were enough to turn your coat.
@BusterXXXL Then by your own admission, you would have simply turned over and become a Nazi. Indeed you have no principles and are a coward. You damn all Germans as Nazi's of that time, making out that you are some sort of holier than thou person, and yet you admit you would have been a nazi yourself? Fortunately, there were MANY germans who lived back then who WERE NOT nazis (including men in the Wehrmacht besides women, and children). Those non-nazi Germans are and will always be your better.
@BusterXXXL I won't waste any more time on you coward. Many foreigners look at you as a German and see another potential Nazi, one who has inherited his forbearers guilt and should pay for it. To escape, you are willing to turn on your own people, your own forefathers and say "But not me, it was them that were the nasty Nazis. But not me. I'm the modern good guy. Please leave me alone and blame those old Nazis". BusterXXXL, YOUR ARE SPINELESS CONTEMPTABLE COWARD. Look in a mirror and puke.
@greenbananas1 Maybe those foreigners who look at germans as potential nazis don't have a brain, or maybe they are still brainwashed by post war propaganda against germany? The truth is, that todays germany is a thousand times more open minded, cosmopolitain and peacekeeping than your broken homeland called USA. Germans work hard to make this world a better and safer place because we know our historical responsibility while you americans behave like a loose cannon. Welcome to the year 2010.
@Lintflas I agree with you tenfold. And indeed, it is the Americans who are behaving like loose cannons. I was being sarcastic in my previous posts. Stay well.
@BusterXXXL your probably just a young universtiy punk living in Leipzig who regularly goes on anti-nazi streetmarches and hates skinheads. You think your intelligent when you hang around other punks, talking rubbish and drinking beer while you watch gutlessly at skinheads likewise eyeballing you while they also talk rubbish and drink beer. And then, along comes a group of goths and both you punks and the skinheads look at the Goths and keep talking rubbish and drinking beer. Your a hero!
@BusterXXXL And I why don't you put down your correct country instead of "claiming to be German" when your obviously anti-german. A German speaking American most likely.
@greenbananas1 Its not yours to decide who is "true german" and who is not. I am anti-nazi and you dont seem to understand, that that is a different thing, than anti-german.
To compare any vaguely similar objects and claim one is "stolen" from the other, just foolish.
For instance, the cruise missle got its start with WWI-era British Scientists, but I don't see any videos claiming German scientists were "patent" thieves? Von Braun got his gimboled engines from Goddards patent, the Hortens were years behind Northrop, science and engineering isn't like art, with every artist hiding his work, its organic, inter-dependent...
You are pathetic and ignorant! USA continous to be dependent from tecnologies of another countries! This International Space Station would be made with tecnology of russians. The mond space projet would be organazed by Werner von Braun and his german scientists.
The schools in USA are very bad and the american don't learn to think!
@OPE08 ahh mh northtrop were faster than the hortens - damn u are stupid - any one wing the americans build between the 30s and 60s were crap, the pilots explained that they were totaly unstabl. the horten hoX was years ahead - why do u think does any american stealth bomber look like this jet? so just stfu if u have no idea of what u are talking
@Wolf9656 Thats the HoIX, there never was an "X" model, kinda funny your claiming I dont know anything when you dont even know the name of the prototype ( failed ) in question. Actually ALL flying wings built before computor stabilization were failures just as the HoIXv3 was.
The B2's resemblance to the YB49 is pure co-incidence, the original designs were all computor generated based on certain parameters, in fact the first design was diamond-shaped.
@OPE08 i said ho X - it was a prototype and it existed - but ok if u think all of the one wings were crap, why did all the american flyinig aces say that the ho 229 was excellent to fly? - i mean americans never invented something special - all ur "big" inventions were build by germans, frenchs, russians, and british guys. u never did something important for this planet - u just stole everything and than used it to look good!
@Wolf9656 - No, there never was an "HoX", it was a concept aircraft for the last ditch programs.
American "Flying Aces" never said that the "Ho229 was excellent to fly" because none of them ever flew one, none of the HoIXV3 prototypes were completed, and the one test flight killed the pilot. The one German pilot who had the most hours in on the V2 glider said it wasnt as good as the Komet.
And I never claimed america was the greatest, your bigotry doesnt excuse your absolute lack of facts
@Wolf9656 There were three V3 prototypes built, none flew after the crash.
Please name any of the Pilots that flew the V3 ever...
Now the old GLIDERS may have been flown, tiny scale models of the propsed final version that was never built. The Hortens were good with gliders, tho they never had a successful powered aircraft in production, ever, in their entire careers...
@Wolf9656 There were three V3 prototypes built, none flew after the crash.

The V3 that is in storage here in the US was damaged and was never flown
@Wolf9656 - wiki says: "... A Horten H.IV flying wing glider is in the Planes of Fame museum in Chino, California. The only surviving Ho 229 airframe, the V3, is at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Paul E. Garber Restoration Facility in Suitland, Maryland..."
And I add: The V3 mentioned was never completed and was damaged in a bombing raid, and was never flown, have you seen how torn up it looks in the pictures?
@OPE08 i meant this part : The H.IX V1 was followed in December 1944 by the Junkers Jumo 004-powered second prototype H.IX V2;[....] Göring believed in the design and ordered a[..] under jet power. The first flight of the H.IX V2 was made in Oranienburg on 2 February 1945. All subsequent test flights and development were done by Gothaer Waggonfabrik. [].. The test pilot was Leutnant Erwin Ziller. Two further test flights were made between 2 and 18 February 1945.
@Wolf9656 - Yes, Ziller put in a total of about 10 hours in the V2 prototype before he crashed, and I think around 50 hours in the V1 glider. There was another pilot who flew the glider a great deal more, and like I said he claimed the Me163 was superior.
So, it appears nobody ever flew a V3, and I've never heard of a functioning V2 being flown by anyone post war, the V1 gliders probably were, tho there again I've never heard of it. The line died with the plant they were built in.
The H.IX V2 reportedly displayed very good handling qualities, with only moderate lateral instability. While the second flight was equally successful, the undercarriage was damaged by a heavy landing caused by Ziller deploying the brake parachute too early during his landing approach. There are reports that during one of these test flights, the H.IX V2 undertook a simulated "dog-fight" with a Messerschmitt Me 262, the first operational jet fighter and that the H.IX V2 outperformed the Me 262.
@Wolf9656 - the V2 was a scale model prototype which mounted full-sized engines, "moderate" lateral instability is debatable, but the fact is that the flying wing concept is inherently unstable and yaw control has to be maintained thru less than desireable means. Ziller was later killed by this "moderate instability" when he suffered a flame-out and the lack of yaw control slewed the aircraft sideways and crashed.
The Me262 story is like saying a mini out manuvered a truck...
@Wolf9656 - LOL... it wasnt THAT tiny... remember the Northrop N1M and N9M were both scale models too, the N9M was the prototype for the proposed XB35 Bomber. I dont know the scale off-hand but the V3 was the final prototype, or production model, and it was slightly larger than the V2 was, altho most fan-sites list them as identical. So, I dont believe any of the V3's ever flew, just the V2 for a short time, and ALOT of hours on the V1 glider...
The Horten were ahead of mr. Northrop, Northrop didn't have a true flying wing until 1940 with the N1M jeep, the hortens had already been producing flying wings in either glider or powered form.
And mr. Northrop didn't get to work back on his flying wing concept until the New York times published an article and picture of a Horten II and showing the Horten record breaking flying wings.
To claim that the Horten were years behind Northrop is just beeing dumb, they were ahead.
@Dreachon See, you have to say "true" flying wing because its the only way you can try to minimize what Northrop was doing. Northrop started the Avion Corp in 1927 SPECIFICALLY to work on wings, and the 1929 prototype was a wing. Being that Northrop was already a successful aircraft designer, something the Hortens never were, he already understood the prototyping and testbed process. THIS is why the prototype had a temporary tail fitted, because testing was more important.
I am not minimising anything because I don't have too, I'm just telling what it the truth, the Horten beats Norhtrop into designing, building and flying with a flying wing.
It never was a wing as it still had a tail with external vetical control surfaces.
Many other sites will also link to the N1M as mr. Northrop dream of having a flying wing become a reaility.
@Dreachon - The N1M by the way was the fighter mockup and was not picked up by the Gov't, it was the N9M ( which continues to fly today ) that was picked up for the bomber program.
It should be pointed out that Northrop used the info gathered during 1929 as a basis for both planes, and they were able to go from a standstill in 39 to three fully functional, full-scale production model bombers by 46, and a jet version by 48. While the Hortens failed to complete their one project in a decade.
Failed 1 project in a decade, have you lost all common sense, are you talking too much with Lottolooser999, the Horten had build an entire series of wflying wing even before the N1m took off, they had 5 series of flying wings.
Northrop didn't get contracts for flying wings until after the NY times published an article about the record breaking Ho-II.
If it weren't for the Hortens the US would not have been interested.
The Ho-IX didn't get a contract for until we reach 1943
@Dreachon No, I just dont think of each of their different models as a unique series. Each one was another step towards the same goal, and at first that goal was something similar to Northrops 1929 prototype, a twin prop driven fighter aircraft. In 1943 there was a call for a bomber, so they altered their plans for a fighter and submitted the "HoIX" as a jet bomber ( so they could get in on the 3x1000 projects ) And ended up with a fighter/bomber that weighed as much as a medium bomber.
Do you think mr. Northrop could have done so if he had to work only with 2 or 3 people at max, making most of the flying wings in his own barn or living room with almost no funding and having his countries industry pounded 24/7.
The Ho-IX glider version actually displayed excellent handling capabilities and stability.
@Dreachon that may have been the Hortens issue for the first few years, like I said I believe the Hortens did amazing work, the title of this video is the "patent theft" however, and I think its pretty obvious that in the case of the flying wing there was no theft.
And we should remember that for the final 5 years of the Hortens work they were well funded, had a proper design facility, and a large work-force, it was only materials that eluded them.
@Dreachon - Fine, for the final 3 years then, on a project they had been working on for a decade by that point.
PERHAPS, if they had stuck to a prop-driven fighter they would have actually finished, but just like Northrop their government as well was not interested in a prop-driven fighter at that point.
None of this changes the basic point. There was no patent theft in this area, and that Northrops efforts were advanced compared to the Hortens, for various reasons.
@OPE08 - And your hinting that they were working on a shoestring budget from their livingroom or barn may have been true for a year or so, but they started working with Dynamit AG in Troisdorf in 35/36, so while no, they weren't rich, successful aircraft designers running their own company as Northrop was, they weren't the Wright Brothers either...
@Dreachon Sorry, I missed something, the HOIXv1 glider may have been easy to fly, ( altho its test pilot said the Me163 was better ) but the issue is with manuvering and landing. And there is no reason to believe that the V1 was any different than any other wing, it was inherently instable as all wings are. The smaller craft were easier to wrestle with the yaw issues but that didn't stop the test pilot of the V2 from getting killed when a flameout cause him to slew sideways and crash.
@Dreachon Don't get me wrong, the Hortens did amazingly well considering they had zero formal training or education in aeronautics or design, and while they were financed by the Nazi Regime they did have to deal with lack of availability of materials. But in the end their final prototype was still not ready, and like all wings prior to FBW it was deathly unstable.
Northrop actually started work on the N1M and N9M in 39 when the US Army asked for new aircraft submissions.
A lot of the german future aircrafts shown here were only projects just drawn on the table, even without prorotype. It's normal that after a war the victorious party takes over the inventions and patents of the looser.
"A lot of" - Just the Junkers EF 132 and the Me 263 + A9 rocket are drawings and they started workiing on the prototypes. So, i dont see the "lot of planes" you talked about.
Is it normal too, that the took the Scientists with them? ;) All Nazi party members. But hey theres a truth and theres another one. You choose..
Hello, the video response to this is unavailable in my country I would appreciate if you could please contact me so I could have access to it somehow.
Einstein lived in the USA for decades before he died. He founded the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton. The United States never passed any laws stripping him of his citizenship or planned his murder. I don't recall ever giving any thought to Einstein being German or American when I was a student in the USA; Einstein was the world's first true global celebrity. He was the most famous person in the world.
Also the origins of the German rocket program begin with Goddard

The U.S. developed and used their own guided missiles DURING WWII. They mostly became operational later in the war and don't get any of the fame like the V-1. The U.S. navy had one in the pacific campaign called the "bat", look it up.
Yes, this video is wonderful (ist Wunderbar). America robbed Germany blind and then acted like it was the one who invented all of these things. The Americans are vicious, imperialist liars.

seit froh über unsere demokratie. auch wenn ein konstitionelle monarche wohl noch besser für deutschland wäre, sollten wir doch nicht vergessen, warum wir in einem der schönsten, freiheitlichsten und sichersten ländern der welt leben;

Germany is lucky that the USA didn't put together an atomic bomb sooner, or else Germany would be one big radioactive hole

German Engineers worked in the USA on the atomic bomb with the condition they do not use them against germany.
And IF they used the bomb against germany, a lot of european countrys AND allied soldiers would have gotten much radiation, and probably hole Europe would hate the usa.

They lost the dam war (which they started). Of course the Allies are going to take the war spoils. What the hell do you think the point of war is? For thousands of years wars have ended with the winner taking stuff from the loser. If Germany didn't want to lose their patents they shouldn't have gone to war in the first place.

Lintflas 1 year ago
@Lintflas - "major" impact? Where was that impact exactly?
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08
Lintflas 10 months ago
@Lintflas No, "downplay" is the wrong word. Atomic weapons came into existence in the 1940's because of the efforts of a great many scientists from a dozen different countries, The German scientists who came to America had the benefit of US and UK research and most importantly billions in funding. People try to claim it as "German" technology, when there was no technology at all until an American program started it. Yes, of course, some of the early hypothesis were from German citizens...
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08 - then you say "most other important military technologies", I assume you cannot name a single one? And the Saturn V was not a military technology, but lets look at it shall we?
Von Braun claimed that he would have never been successful if not for the successes and help he received from the American Goddard. And it was Goddards gimboled engines that powered the V2 and the Saturn V.
It took von braun 12 years of American-backed research to repeat the V2, how german was that?
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08 - Now if you were smart you would have talked about german, nazi-era submarine technologies, which America most certainly did benefit from, but thast really about it.
As far as becoming a superpower, you'll not get any credit for that either, it was industrial and financial might that did that, not the geman tanks we never copied, or the planes we never copied, or the rifles, or the cannon. And that started in the 1930's and 40's, while Germany was too busy destroying itself to help.
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08
Lintflas 10 months ago
@Lintflas - Congreve and Hale would be amazed to hear that their rockets were invented by someone else, so would the Chinese...
And you continue to reference the Saturn projects which were years after the Mercury project, and as I said, it took more than a decades work to find success in Mercury. So the fact that Von Braun, using somebody elses engine designs, and taking over a decades work in america with a mostly american institution, makes it a "German" success?
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08
Lintflas 10 months ago
@Lintflas - again, you continue to mention the saturn V, a rocket completed nearly 20 YEARS after the end of WWII. And fail to address how a project begun and finalized in america by a man who had left Germany nearly 2 decades before was somehow "German"?
And the first successful flight of a liquid fueled rocket was Goddards, again, and American, who inspired the beginning of the German rocket clubs AFTER his success.
Its like saying the first car was the 55 T-bird...
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08
Lintflas 10 months ago
@Lintflas - Here's some areas where you just mis-spoke. First off, Von Brauns rockets did not have "different propulsion", they had Goddards gimboled engines. Where they improved upon? Yes. Where they much bigger? Yes. But they were Goddards. Second, there were not "countless other ex-nazi's", there was a small cadre of von brauns men from Germany working with thousands of Americans for 20 years to build the Saturn. The saturn was as different from the V2 as the V2 was from Goddards
OPE08 10 months ago
@Lintflas - As well, your problem is that you are stuck on "like it or not", it has nothing to do with what I like, it is simple facts and a comparison with how people and the world works.
Think of it this way, your whole premise is that America "stole" nazi-era patents and technology in order to succeed, so to "prove" it you claim all the credit for a huge list of "other" technologies without actually proving a single one. Your groundless theft of fair credit is okay because it "feels" right?
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08

Funny how the only people complaining about "Poor Germany" are 13 year old boys and Holocaust deniers.
Not one of any of these scientists complained, they moved on, they got back to work, shared their findings, peer-reviewed others work.
All except the Hortens, who suddenly claimed to be "stealth" pioneers 40 years later, and 10 years after the US was already doing it.
OF COURSE aircraft built roughly in the same era to do the same jobs are going to look similar, form follows function...

OPE08 2 years ago
I would wish that answer would come more frequently when it comes to germans in that era. No matter if scientists, soldiers, civilians and even some waffen ss members.

wotanderwilde 2 years ago
@wotanderwilde the answer comes so infrequently, because it contradicts the facts. VonBraun WAS a war criminal.
BusterXXXL 1 year ago
@OPE08 von Braun personally commanded a Death Camp on Pennemünde. Development and production of german rockets killed far more people, than their actual use, nearly all of them forced labors. I wonder what more evidence you need to see that he was some evil Nazi. He joined the Party to secure his part of the spoils.
BusterXXXL 1 year ago
@BusterXXXL I won't defend the Nazi's for a second, but your comment is misleading. Von Braun was the head scientist, but he did not "personally command a death camp", there are specific reasons why we are careful about labelling concentration, work, and death camps specifically.
VonBraun was not the military Commander. As i said, some DID have their records altered or expunged. He was, as many have been in the past, fortunate in his usefulness post-war.
OPE08 1 year ago
@BusterXXXL Your obviously an unintelligent troll throwing out gross distortions of truth and outright lies laden with emotion, in the hope that some-one "bites". Your not worthy of an intelligent debate. If Braun "personally commanded a death camp" as you suggest, why was he only a major (nominal SS rank) by the wars end????? In your eyes, ALL germans are likely to be big bad evil Nazi's including Hansel and Gretal in the dreaded Black forest. Your an imbecile.
greenbananas1 1 year ago
@greenbananas1 I do and did spend a lot of times with vastly different germans, that are born 1927 an earlier. Hardly any of them had much quarrels about killing others or see them die, until the Wehrmacht ascended to its final nose-dive. ALL germans at the time were responsible for letting it drag on. Its still a big problem for those about to die. Once dementia sets in, they get panicked about jewish revenge.
BusterXXXL 1 year ago
@BusterXXXL I understand VERY well. Indeed, there is a huge difference between being anti-german and anti-nazi. You however don't make the distinction as evidence by your own statement "ALL Germans at the time were responsible". And then you roll that into a another stupid statement about dementia and "jewish revenge". Born 1927 or earlier? So the entire young modern Germany are enlightened innocents while the old are all guilty nazi's? Arschgeige!
greenbananas1 1 year ago
@greenbananas1 Not enlightened, but obviously innocent for crimes, that happened before they grew up. And the older ones were responsible for their nation, and most of them dodged that reponsibility or partook in abusing it. Fick dich selber.
BusterXXXL 1 year ago
@BusterXXXL No, definitely not enlightened. And anyone like you is also IGNORANT through your willingness to sacrifice the entire german population born 1927 or before as nazis and adopt a holiier than thou "innocent" tag for anyone born after. How guilty were the german children born from 1910 through to 1927 of the implications of the treaty of versailles imposed upon them? Yet they suffered too the consequences. Indeed, I repeat for your ignorant benefit......Arschgeige!
greenbananas1 1 year ago

BusterXXXL 1 year ago
@BusterXXXL A#seholes like you are in no position to judge those you don't know, or those who experience something you will never know. That you consign the entire German population born prior to 1927 to the "All guilty as Nazi's" generalisation demonstrates your lack of intellect as well as your complete ignorance of history. Why do you continue your pretence of being German? Why don't you just "come out of the closet" and admit to being an anti-german foreigner pretending? Arschgeige!
greenbananas1 1 year ago

greenbananas1 1 year ago
@BusterXXXL and the irony of it (assuming you are German) is that similarly ignorant foreigners look at you as a German and still think your a nazi. :) Ignorant people like you, are unintelligent and like to generalise as it makes understanding easier. They see you being German as a Nazi. :) How does it feel to be labeled a nazi my friend? A Nazi Arschgeige! :)
greenbananas1 1 year ago
@greenbananas1 Its only ignorant foreigners who look at me and THINK I am a Nazi. Everyone who listens to your rants and insults knows for sure, that you ARE a Nazi. And with people like you around, all other germans have double the task, to prove that suckheads like you gladfully have no place any more in german society.
BusterXXXL 1 year ago
@BusterXXXL You typify the worst sort of Nazi. Gutless unprincipaled people like you would have rolled over when the Nazi's come to power. You would have hidden in society, and overcompensated in self fear by committing the very acts the nazi's wanted. Your fear and self interest would have made you an ideal Nazi though in your own deluded mind, you would have convinced yourself otherwise. And like a true coward, you would kick the defenceless when you have no fear of accountability. NAZI
greenbananas1 1 year ago
@greenbananas1 would have, would have, would have. It did not even took an authoritarian regime to turn you into a Nazi, your own efforts to overcompensate for your lack of self-esteem were enough to turn your coat.
BusterXXXL 1 year ago
@BusterXXXL Then by your own admission, you would have simply turned over and become a Nazi. Indeed you have no principles and are a coward. You damn all Germans as Nazi's of that time, making out that you are some sort of holier than thou person, and yet you admit you would have been a nazi yourself? Fortunately, there were MANY germans who lived back then who WERE NOT nazis (including men in the Wehrmacht besides women, and children). Those non-nazi Germans are and will always be your better.
greenbananas1 1 year ago
@greenbananas1 You are dreaming. I did not admit anything. I just told you to stop making things up. I did not live then, so "would have" is void.
And all of the germans, who lived then, were responsible for their nations actions and hardly a handful lived up to that responsibility.
BusterXXXL 1 year ago
@BusterXXXL I won't waste any more time on you coward. Many foreigners look at you as a German and see another potential Nazi, one who has inherited his forbearers guilt and should pay for it. Pathetic.

Wolf9656 10 months ago
@Wolf9656 Thats the HoIX, there never was an "X" model, kinda funny your claiming I dont know anything when you dont even know the name of the prototype ( failed ) in question. Actually ALL flying wings built before computor stabilization were failures just as the HoIXv3 was.
The B2's resemblance to the YB49 is pure co-incidence, the original designs were all computor generated based on certain parameters, in fact the first design was diamond-shaped.
This chat takes more than you have
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08 i said ho X - it was a prototype and it existed - but ok if u think all of the one wings were crap, why did all the american flyinig aces say that the ho 229 was excellent to fly? - i mean americans never invented something special - all ur "big" inventions were build by germans, frenchs, russians, and british guys. u never did something important for this planet - u just stole everything and than used it to look good!
Wolf9656 10 months ago
@Wolf9656 - No, there never was an "HoX", it was a concept aircraft for the last ditch programs.
American "Flying Aces" never said that the "Ho229 was excellent to fly" because none of them ever flew one, none of the HoIXV3 prototypes were completed, and the one test flight killed the pilot. The one German pilot who had the most hours in on the V2 glider said it wasnt as good as the Komet.
And I never claimed america was the greatest, your bigotry doesnt excuse your absolute lack of facts
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08 there were more ho 229 than the one. i mean u have 2 in the usa - and yeah some flying aces of the americans and the britains flew it.

Wolf9656 10 months ago
@Wolf9656 - wiki says: "... A Horten H.IV flying wing glider is in the Planes of Fame museum in Chino, California. The only surviving Ho 229 airframe, the V3, is at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Paul E. Garber Restoration Facility in Suitland, Maryland..."
And I add: The V3 mentioned was never completed and was damaged in a bombing raid, and was never flown, have you seen how torn up it looks in the pictures?
What do you mean "they" arent fake?
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08 i meant this part : The H.IX V1 was followed in December 1944 by the Junkers Jumo 004-powered second prototype H.IX V2;[....] Göring believed in the design and ordered a[..] under jet power. The first flight of the H.IX V2 was made in Oranienburg on 2 February 1945. All subsequent test flights and development were done by Gothaer Waggonfabrik. [].. The test pilot was Leutnant Erwin Ziller. Two further test flights were made between 2 and 18 February 1945.
Wolf9656 10 months ago
@Wolf9656 - Yes, Ziller put in a total of about 10 hours in the V2 prototype before he crashed, and I think around 50 hours in the V1 glider. There was another pilot who flew the glider a great deal more, and like I said he claimed the Me163 was superior.
So, it appears nobody ever flew a V3, and I've never heard of a functioning V2 being flown by anyone post war, the V1 gliders probably were, tho there again I've never heard of it. The line died with the plant they were built in.
OPE08 10 months ago
The H.IX V2 reportedly displayed very good handling qualities, with only moderate lateral instability. While the second flight was equally successful, the undercarriage was damaged by a heavy landing caused by Ziller deploying the brake parachute too early during his landing approach. There are reports that during one of these test flights, the H.IX V2 undertook a simulated "dog-fight" with a Messerschmitt Me 262, the first operational jet fighter and that the H.IX V2 outperformed the Me 262.
Wolf9656 10 months ago
@Wolf9656 - the V2 was a scale model prototype which mounted full-sized engines, "moderate" lateral instability is debatable, but the fact is that the flying wing concept is inherently unstable and yaw control has to be maintained thru less than desireable means. Ziller was later killed by this "moderate instability" when he suffered a flame-out and the lack of yaw control slewed the aircraft sideways and crashed.
The Me262 story is like saying a mini out manuvered a truck...
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08 how the fuck should a real pilot fit into a scale model?
Wolf9656 10 months ago
@Wolf9656 - LOL... it wasnt THAT tiny... remember the Northrop N1M and N9M were both scale models too, the N9M was the prototype for the proposed XB35 Bomber. I dont know the scale off-hand but the V3 was the final prototype, or production model, and it was slightly larger than the V2 was, altho most fan-sites list them as identical. So, I dont believe any of the V3's ever flew, just the V2 for a short time, and ALOT of hours on the V1 glider...
OPE08 10 months ago
@OPE08
Dreachon 9 months ago
@Dreachon See, you have to say "true" flying wing because its the only way you can try to minimize what Northrop was doing. Northrop started the Avion Corp in 1927 SPECIFICALLY to work on wings, and the 1929 prototype was a wing. Being that Northrop was already a successful aircraft designer, something the Hortens never were, he already understood the prototyping and testbed process. THIS is why the prototype had a temporary tail fitted, because testing was more important.
OPE08 9 months ago
@OPE08
Dreachon 9 months ago
@Dreachon - The N1M by the way was the fighter mockup and was not picked up by the Gov't, it was the N9M ( which continues to fly today ) that was picked up for the bomber program.
It should be pointed out that Northrop used the info gathered during 1929 as a basis for both planes, and they were able to go from a standstill in 39 to three fully functional, full-scale production model bombers by 46, and a jet version by 48. While the Hortens failed to complete their one project in a decade.
OPE08 9 months ago
@OPE08
Dreachon 9 months ago
@Dreachon No, I just dont think of each of their different models as a unique series. Each one was another step towards the same goal, and at first that goal was something similar to Northrops 1929 prototype, a twin prop driven fighter aircraft. In 1943 there was a call for a bomber, so they altered their plans for a fighter and submitted the "HoIX" as a jet bomber ( so they could get in on the 3x1000 projects ) And ended up with a fighter/bomber that weighed as much as a medium bomber.
OPE08 9 months ago
@OPE08
Do you think mr. Northrop could have done so if he had to work only with 2 or 3 people at max, making most of the flying wings in his own barn or living room with almost no funding and having his countries industry pounded 24/7.
The Ho-IX glider version actually displayed excellent handling capabilities and stability.
Dreachon 9 months ago
@Dreachon that may have been the Hortens issue for the first few years, like I said I believe the Hortens did amazing work, the title of this video is the "patent theft" however, and I think its pretty obvious that in the case of the flying wing there was no theft.
And we should remember that for the final 5 years of the Hortens work they were well funded, had a proper design facility, and a large work-force, it was only materials that eluded them.
OPE08 9 months ago
@OPE08
They didn't get any of that until they got the project in 1943 with Goerings call for the triple 1000 project.
Dreachon 9 months ago
@Dreachon - Fine, for the final 3 years then, on a project they had been working on for a decade by that point.
PERHAPS, if they had stuck to a prop-driven fighter they would have actually finished, but just like Northrop their government as well was not interested in a prop-driven fighter at that point.
None of this changes the basic point. There was no patent theft in this area, and that Northrops efforts were advanced compared to the Hortens, for various reasons.
OPE08 9 months ago
@OPE08 - And your hinting that they were working on a shoestring budget from their livingroom or barn may have been true for a year or so, but they started working with Dynamit AG in Troisdorf in 35/36, so while no, they weren't rich, successful aircraft designers running their own company as Northrop was, they weren't the Wright Brothers either...
OPE08 9 months ago
@Dreachon Sorry, I missed something, the HOIXv1 glider may have been easy to fly, ( altho its test pilot said the Me163 was better ) but the issue is with manuvering and landing. And there is no reason to believe that the V1 was any different than any other wing, it was inherently instable as all wings are. The smaller craft were easier to wrestle with the yaw issues but that didn't stop the test pilot of the V2 from getting killed when a flameout cause him to slew sideways and crash.
OPE08 9 months ago
@Dreachon Don't get me wrong, the Hortens did amazingly well considering they had zero formal training or education in aeronautics or design, and while they were financed by the Nazi Regime they did have to deal with lack of availability of materials. But in the end their final prototype was still not ready, and like all wings prior to FBW it was deathly unstable.
Northrop actually started work on the N1M and N9M in 39 when the US Army asked for new aircraft submissions.
cheers

A lot of the german future aircrafts shown here were only projects just drawn on the table, even without prorotype. It's normal that after a war the victorious party takes over the inventions and patents of the looser.
